We didn't want to have the kitchen open back up for us if they were already wrapping up. They assured us the kitchen wouldn't be closed for another 15 minutes so to come on in. We ordered the pizza, and the pizza guy had a meltdown. Apparently he had already started cleaning up for the night. The first course, a Milanese risotto, was absolutely bursting with rich saffron deliciousness. For our second course, we ended up getting a whole sea bash, cooked with just a little bit of olive oil and salt for flavor; the fish was tender and juicy, cooked just right. And part of what also made the dish so attractive is that risotto Milanese is a classic Milanese dish. Unfortunately, the dish didn't live up to the hype. Osso Bucco, done right is so tender that it falls off the bone. It's a slow cook type of meal and you can taste the results of that. Here, the meat was harder than it should have been, which indicates to me that they probably cut some corners. The risotto, on the other hand, was solid. As was the portion size. I was just expecting better with the osso bucco. My friends got the veal (elephant ears). Talk about a portion size. Three huge veal cutlets and fries. You can see why they call them elephant ears! This place is known for its risotto and boy it was amazing.
