Now, there appears to only be one vet working there and he does things without making sure I know what is happening and what it is going to cost. I feel like my questions are a nuisance. I took my dog in multiple times because he couldn't walk, and the vet kept him (without calling me) for days. Eventually, he called me saying he was going to keep my dog for a week to give him acupuncture treatments, and when I got him back, he was no better whatsoever, and they wanted me to pay $1500 upfront and berated me for not having the money. I had NO IDEA how much this was going to cost, and I had no say in the matter, and we did not have the means to pay it. Two weeks later, we had no choice but to put our dog down because the vet's treatments wouldn't work, and they wouldn't let us come back because we owed them money.

Every effort is taken to ensure that people wanting to adopt are ready and get matched with just the right companion. My wife and I adopted our now 15 week old Phoebe (formerly Chloe) about a month and half ago. The entire process start to finish took about a week and a half. We filled out an application online and interviewed that weekend. The staff worked with our schedule to make the interview possible and let us meet with several of the puppies in the litter to get to know them a little. The facilities themselves were clean and well-maintained. The animals weren't crowded, and we were able to play with one puppy from the litter at a time in a small, private room. We were interviewed by two staff members while we played with the puppies. We were called the following Thursday saying we had been selected to adopt our Phoebe. Pet Refuge even facilitated a time for Phoebe to meet our older dog that Saturday when I came to pick her up. On top of the terrific service and thorough process, the value of adopting a pet from Pet Refuge is tremendous. The adoption fee for our Phoebe was $200--this included her first three rounds of shots, spaying, microchipping, a voucher for her rabies immunization (to use when she was old enough), and a goodie bag with some food, toys, coupons, etc. Overall we were very impressed from start to finish!

They brought out a different dog and tried to get me to adopt it. They said the dog I was interested in wasnt "good with people". Which makes no sense because why would you say she was up for adoption?! They refused to even let me set up a time because "she's not friendly ". How would the dog ever get used to others if she is not allowed to even meet with possible adoptees? The ladies there, obviously volunteers that dont care; were dismissive since I dont want the dog THEY wanted me to take. Pet Refuge sucks and you need staff in there that actually WANT to be there and actually care for the animals. There were kittens running all over the place. I feel sorry for those animals.

I picked up my sons dog last week on Tuesday, she had to stay for 10 days, they gave her vaccines…read moreso she would be up to date (thats a good thing). I was told when I picked her up that they had given her the "kennel cough" vaccine and the rest of them, I said "okay good now she is up to date on everything". I was handed all the papers and the man that brought her out said "she is good to go". After getting home, I noticed she had a dry hack, didnt think too much about it (I have never had one of my dogs get Kennel cough, so I didnt know) Next day I notice she is really warm., I figured it was because she was vaccinated. Next day, still hot coughing more. I looked through the papers and found that they were giving her 3 meds, and she was supposed to continue taking them. I called them in the morning and they didnt call back until the end of the day. They never told me she got kennel cough, didnt offer me any medication, ask if I had other pets or anything else. I had to take her elsewhere to get her medication, They could have at the very least said "hey your dog needs to see a vet to get medication", I have other dogs. somebody there needs to.......
