DO NOT USE THE KENNEL SERVICES AT THIS BUSINESS. THIS BUSINESS IS NOT SAFE FOR YOUR PET…read more An elderly family member of mine boarded 4 small dogs with Concord Custom Clips during the 2012 Thanksgiving week while out of town on a holiday trip to the East Coast. The business owner had taken in a large stray dog and allowed the stray to cross paths with the boarding dogs, information that my out-of-town family member did not know. On Thanksgiving Day 2012, one of the 4 dogs being boarded there by my family member was attacked by the stray and severely injured, but survived the attack. The injured dog was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital in Fort Wayne. The injured dog's owner was not called immediately after the attack; however, she was notified of the attack approximately 4 hours afterward. The business owner allowed the stray to remain on the premises without the knowledge of the injured dog's owner, and allowed the stray to continue to mix with the other dogs boarding at the kennel. The following day, Friday, November 23, 2012, another of the 3 family dogs still remaining at the kennel located at Concord Custom Clips was attacked and killed by the same stray. Again, the dog's owner was not notified immediately of the dog's attack and subsequent death by the owner of Concord Custom Clips. The dogs' owner called Concord Custom Clips the next morning, Saturday, November 24th and was told of the death then. She cut her holiday trip short and headed home to be with her pets. Another family member was sent that very day to Concord Custom Clips to remove the living family dogs and collect the body of the dog killed the day before. That family member noticed approximately 8-10 other dogs on site and also noticed that all of the boarding animals were allowed to mix with each other. This family member asked the business owner where the stray was, and was told by the business owner that the stray had been taken to the Humane Society immediately after the attack of Friday. She further asked the business owner if the Humane Society had been informed that the stray that Concord Custom Clips had left with them was dangerous and had attacked and killed other dogs. The business owner told the family member that she did tell the Humane Society that the stray was dangerous. In spite of medical attention, the dog that was attacked on Thanksgiving Day died of his injuries on Sunday, November 25, 2012. The owner of the dogs that were attacked and killed is devastated by the loss of two her beloved pets. Family and friends surround her in support and love. She has expressed that her hope that no other family suffers the same experience at the incompetent hands of Concord Custom Clips. Her wish that no other family or pet suffer as she and hers have at Concord Custom Clips is my wish as well, and why I, in support and love for my family at this time of grief and loss, chose to write this review. This incident is a total outrage of dangerous and foolish kennel practices, and should be put out of operation.

My 6 year old border collie had always been a nervous dog and did not like strangers around her…read more She would nip at people without warning, so we did not take her anywhere. Even though our family was pretty social, she was never part of our social life. When people came over, we put her in a locked room. She rarely went in the car anyplace, and going to the vet was a nightmare. Last summer, I turned Aubrey's world upside down. I got married and moved into a new house. This household included another dog and a special needs 26 year old. The first few weeks were stressful. Aubrey was very anxious and my stepson did not read her cues. There were a few bite incidents and nobody could relax. I didn't know what to do and thought I would have to surrender my dog. I looked online and saw Kasten's Dog Training, which I knew to be close to my new house in Elkhart. I truly doubted that anyone could help my six year old dog. I called and scheduled an online interview. I remember feeling very optimistic after that first phone call. Right away, I felt like there was someone who understood what we were going through, and was going to help me keep my dog. I had nothing much to lose, so I signed her up! Aubrey participated in Program 5- Behavioral Modification for Aggressive Dogs and Dogs with a Bite History. She spent 21 days at Kasten's split into two sessions. After the first 9 days, I came to pick her up and immediately noticed a difference in her demeanor. She completed the second half of her training right before Christmas. When my son came home college, he was shocked to see how much better she was behaving. She had a new confidence and was no longer so anxious. She was a treat to take on walks and we didn't have to worry about her darting out the door anytime it opened. We have taken Aubrey to Kasten's for boarding several times in the past year. Being able to board her, and know she is safe, has been such a blessing. The fact that she was receiving refreshers as she stayed there was an added bonus. Before coming to Kasten's, I never would have even thought that I could board her anywhere. The trainers at Kasten's were so helpful and did such a great job with Aubrey. They worked tirelessly with her, and I could see the extra effort that they put in to get her to feel more comfortable, and eventually enjoy training sessions. Kasten's Dog Training has improved our family's life. We can now enjoy our active social lives and include Aubrey. She jumps happily into her kennel when told, walks on a leash like a show dog and even goes on trips to the hardware store several times a month. She and my stepson have a mutual understanding, and both of them feel much safer around each other. Making that phone call to Kasten's was truly one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Thank you to everyone at Kasten's - you have made such a difference in our lives!

Highly recommend! Lovingly took our rambunctious dogs and taught us how to be better puppy parents.read more
