My Portuguese Water My Portuguese Water Dog, Laker, was attacked by a Pit Bull while at Bunk and Biscuit for training and boarding. I was out of town on my way to Florida when the incident occurred on November 19, 2024, which was the first morning of my trip. My sister was called and quickly rushed Laker to Kryder Vet in Granger, IN. The vet decided not to traumatize him that day, so the following day, they had to put him under anesthesia to clean his wounds. I changed my flights and returned home immediately. Laker is not just a pet; he is part of the family and an AKC show dog who has won many awards. Will Short, the owner of Bunk and Biscuit, stated that the medical bills would be covered by the owner of the Pit Bull. Laker has had to visit a groomer multiple times to remove mats, and he has been seeing Dr. Block weekly, as recommended by Kryder, to help him recover from the trauma. This was the first time something like this had ever happened to him. It took four staff members to get the Pit Bull off Laker. Bunk and Biscuit has live cameras throughout the facility, allowing owners to watch their dogs. When I requested the footage the next day, I was informed it was no longer available. Will then began contacting my vet to alter the details of what actually occurred and downplayed the incident. I had to instruct my vet not to communicate with him further. Since Laker was a puppy, he has been coming to Bunk twice a week, sometimes more, totaling thousands of dollars over the course of just over a year. Multiple staff members have confided in me about what happened and that Will is attempting to cover it up. However, he is now refusing to pay the vet bills, the groomer's fees, and the expenses incurred with Dr. Block. Will has become very confrontational. Laker also picked up Kennel Cough from there and Will never covered those costs and refused to tell other clients about it. read more

They used to have 2 young guys there that were super personable and would answer any questions you had, whereas now it's a heavily tattooed women who is honestly quite rude and a tall guy with black hair who has an excuse for just about everything, also they don't give refunds so don't even try read more

We previously used B&B in 2023 for two dogs. They stayed in the main building and the cameras caught them quite often having the best time ever. In April of 2024 we boarded 3 dogs in the back building. Problem 1: The cameras were down the majority of the week. The cameras were the largest selling point for using B&B. Problem 2: Because of the location of the kennel, our dogs could see the other dogs at daycare, and one was quite distressed at the kennel door each time we were able to see her. She came home with multiple anxiety induced hotspots and had essentially lost her voice/bark. While I understand being full for things like spring breaks, there needs to be a better system in place so make sure cameras are functional and pets are comfortable. Even a portable divider wall would have helped her anxiety. read more

I have a dog who isn't friendly with other dogs and takes some time to warm up to new people. Everyone at Bunk treated her so well and she now absolutely loves visiting! I always have a good experience with every department and you can tell that the staff truly have a passion for the dogs. Could not recommend this place enough. read more

I don't like giving businesses bad reviews, but I am extremely disappointed with the grooming at Bunk & Biscuit. My miniature schnauzer was nervous and stressed so much during her grooming appointment she broke a blood vessel in her left eye. I understand that this isn't the groomers fault. What I am upset with is that she cut my dogs eyebrows completely off. Schnauzers are known for their beards and eyebrows. I know her eyebrows will grow back, but I can't understand why they were cut completely off. I asked to cut her hair low but still keep her looking like a schnauzer. I will never take her there again for grooming. I read really good things in the site about the experienced groomers, but WHY would any groomer cut a schnauzer's eyebrows off. They do some amazing stuff, very confident anytime I leave my little ones there that they will be treated amazing.

This place has cameras with live feeds so people can check in or watch their dogs play at daycare and boarding. Just a couple of days ago, my two fur- nieces were there for daycare. I logged in like I usually do to check on them. I enjoy watching them play and interact with other dogs. I noticed my older niece, Gracie, not acting normal. She was licking her chops like something was wrong with her mouth, licking the floor, and constantly trying to get the attention of the "handler". I also noticed on camera that the small water bowl they had was empty (I have screenshot of it as well) for the entire time I watched (well over an hour). Knowing my niece as well as I do, I knew something was wrong. I called them and asked to have her checked on. Nobody ever did (issue #1). About 15 minutes later (timestamped video) Gracie threw up a huge pile. When the lady went to clean it up, a husky tried to get to her. SHE LITERALLY KICKED THE HUSKY IN THE SIDE (issue 2)! Moments later, my other niece Maggie approached to see was she was cleaning (Maggie is barely over a year old and Gracie is 4). THE LADY PROCEEDED TO SMACK MAGGIE RIGHT IN THE FACE (issue 3)! A bit later, Gracie (still not checked on) went back up to the lady while she was doing something else. DAMNED IF SHE DIDNT SMACK GRACIE IN THE FACE TO MOVE HER (issue 4)! I called the place and not very kindly told them what I had just witness on camera for the past about half hour. When she went out to confront the "handler" (after playing the video back), the "handler turned to the camera and FLIPPED ME OFF knowing I was still watching (issue 5)! My nieces neighbor rushed to the place and took the girls home. When the manager called the girls owner, they told her that the girls were no longer welcome there because I threatened them. Their only concern was that "their employee quit and they lost and employee now". No apologies! No explanations! Even though cameras dont lie, they still defended this horrible lady (issue 6). Gracie ended up in emergency surgery. She had some kind of string or something literally tied around her tongue, which explained her licking her chops constantly. She had major intestinal obstructions, which explains the puking. Had someone checked her when I asked them to, she may have been able to get help sooner. I took screenshots of Gracie after she got smacked in the face. She was devastated, on top of having something wrong with her (she is super sensitive). The GM/Owner still has failed to contact the girls owners with apology or explanations. 6 very major issues within 45 minutes time! My niece is very expensive surgery! Not to mention the stress the girls endured from this woman. Daycares, boarding, groomers, vets, trainers...they are entrusted with the care and safety of our dogs. What occurred here was the result of an untrained employee getting mad because she had to clean up puke. She has NO business being around dogs, there or anywhere. Gracie and Maggie are the sweetest girls and mean the world to me! We will find a new place for them to enjoy themselves. I highly recommend the same for everyone else. Id be willing to bet this was not an isolated incident(s). Someone who would do that has likely done it before and will again! Pay attention to your dogs when they come home. And if your dog goes here, please be cautious and check the cameras when you can. This place always has staffing issues which leads to bigger dog groups. The lady was on her phone quite a bit too. Not paying attention to the dogs and engaging them is wrong. Good luck with this place if you go! Definitely not worth the money or your dogs safety and well-being. read more

We have used Bunk and Biscuit a couple times for our Husky. Never had any problems. We used them in June for about 10 days for our 3 dogs. The Husky who has been there, our Lab, and Chihuahua. When we picked them up our Chihuahua had dark circles under his eyes and our Lab became very sick. Then one by one they all got sick 1 week after being there. They all got better except our Lab. Exactly one month later she passed away. I don't know what happened but I will NEVER take my animals there again!!! read more

The facility is incredible and absolutely affordable!! Brought my Great Dane here for boarding for the weekend and added on a walk. Each night is about $45 for boarding. A downside is you get charged for Sunday night even if you pick them on Sunday. And you can only pick them up between 4-6pm on Sunday. They take your dog outside every 2 hours during the day to potty AND you get 3 play sessions each day! The front desk area is incredibly nice, although I was terrified my pup was gonna mark his territory on the rug or chairs in the waiting area - luckily he didn't! My dogs room was in the aquatic facility and had a futon and chair for him to chill. The facility is huge with a ton of buildings and plenty of outdoor play areas with high fences. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the slightly odd interactions I had with the staff. I called a few times to check on my pup and they seemed surprised that I did and just told me he was doing good. And the behavior sheet I got at the end was pretty bare compared to ones I've gotten at other places, especially with him being there for 2 days. Overall my pup seemed to enjoy his time here and was well cared for! read more

Customer service? What customer service?? I purchased a 5-visit package of doggie daycare over a year ago and was told today that the package expires after 6 months. The staff certainly does not go out of their way to let customers know that is the policy and I acknowledge that I must have signed a sheet that apparently stated the terms of the package. Today I was turned away - WITH 3 SESSIONS REMAINING - and when I asked to speak with a manager (who had overheard the entire conversation) the response was as cold as ice. Just a mechanical explanation with no compassion for my misunderstanding. Even just offering one complimentary visit would have been a nice overture but the office staff knows the rules and that's how it goes. SO.....I'm glad my money has gone to all your improvements...you'll certainly have plenty of other customers. read more

Great place! Super nice people. We were driving from Northern Michigan back to Southern California with a stop in South Bend for our son to visit Notre Dame Football program. Needed daycare for our 6 yo 85 lb Golden Doodle for a few hours while we met with coaches. Had our shot records with us. They were up to date but staff was prepared to contact our vet in CA if we did t have them. Our dog had so much fun doing all the activities they have, which are more than I've ever seen. We thought it would be 2-3 hours, ended up being 5+ hours. It's a flat fee for daycare which made our time flexible and relieved us of worry so we could stay at Notre Dame longer. Made for a great experience all around. I'd highly recommend for any dog. Out of towners..., go here! read more

My dogs went here for daycare today. They were warn out when they got home. They met so many new friends and got to go swimming in an indoor heated pool. This place is so amazing after touring the resort yesterday I wanted to come here myself. The pent houses I mean suites are huge. First and second levels with log cabin style bed complete with linens, pillow, and flat screen tv. They are glass and over look the swimming area. They have someone come in everyday and change the linens like a hotel. The day care area has a limit of 15 dogs per play area. I like the lower number aloud in each area. They do training classes, grooming, exercise and weight management. They have horse stables. They really have it all. As someone who boards and uses daycare often I have to say this is the nicest and most reasonably priced facility we've been to. The suites are nice size. The play areas are huge with lots of room to run. Lots of inside and outside areas to run and play. Two agility training rooms. You can even come here and rent the pool for half an hour and play with your pup. This is definitely home away from home! I have nothing but praises for Bunk n Biscuit. The staff are rock stars and very nice! I HIGHLY recommend!!! read more

The last two times we have brought our dog to daycare here (Oct. 2019 & Sept 2020) she became so sick that we had to take her to the emergency vet. This is the same daycare that recommended a private trainer for our dog - we met with the trainer for one session and they bragged about how their dog had killed 13 cats over its lifetime (we also have two cats in addition to our dog). As of Sept. 2020, this daycare flies a "Trump 2020" flag on their property. Do not go here. read more

GREED runs this place! Not sure how well our dog was cared for since he was so traumatized and depressed when it was over. The huge rate increase that we were in no way aware of was extremely disappointing. Almost 100$ more than agreed on. They are so focused on money that they do not have quality customer care at all. We were basically lied to even by the "manager" who of course was completely unable to work with us. Very DISAPPOINTED and do NOT recommend. read more

We came across this boarding facility while at a Home Show at the Century Center and I was immediately excited. It looked like a great place for our Yorkie-Poodle to stay when he wasn't with us! We've boarded him twice in 6 months, once for a week during our wedding/honeymoon and once for a wedding in northern Michigan. Not only was it comforting to know he wouldn't be in a cage the entire time, the staff was so nice when I called to check in on him (like a worried mom). People seem to complain about the price when I suggest this facility and honestly, we would love if it was cheaper - who wouldn't? But the price is totally worth it each time and we're reminded of that when we get our pup back and he's obviously had a great time and been well taken care of. read more

I am VERY disappointed in the customer service of this establishment. Our dog was there for two nights and we thought it was going to be our "go to" place until they lost our $30 leash. They didn't offer to pay for it or even give us a credit towards anything and also told me that they never had proof it was even there, which is was. Now we are out $30 for a leash that we really need. I am not impressed and will not be back. We will be going back to Pet Palace. read more

I used this facility when we first moved to the South Bend area in January. The exercise room is very large and has lots of cool equipment. However, the staff nor the setup seems to understand dog behavior. *full disclosure* I have one dog who is fence and leash aggressive to strange dogs, but calms down once inside and loose. I know this because he went to day care at least once a week in Texas with no major issues. The only comment I ever received is that he can be very loud, which happens when a dog is part houndish--a bark becomes a baying base drum. You have to walk all the way past the front fence inside the building to get to the insertion point. This means that there are dogs staring at and possibly barking at all newcomers. The previously mentioned dog is very attention shy of strange dogs due to the first 6 months of his life being lived on the street. It was a very stressful introduction to a new facility to say the least. When I come to pick up my dogs, I am told that the not crazy dog got in a fight with another dog over a bowl of food that was sitting directly next to the fence. I'm not even sure where to begin. I feel panic and ask if both dogs are ok. Oh sure, the lady shrugs, they're fine. I guess we have different definitions of the word "fight." I then ask, "do you mean the dog with the blue collar (crazy)?" No, she points to the dog with the red collar (not crazy). The chances of the dog with the red collar starting a fight over food are about the same as a newborn stealing candy from an adult. These people couldn't tell my dogs apart. They are a similar color and a similar size but that is all. Any pet sitter with a decent amount of experience would be able to tell them apart. Even still, I purposely put differently colored collars on them in case someone is inexperienced. At this point I just want to leave and am trying to wrangle my dogs as the pickup process is not orderly at all when one of the workers calls over the fence to ask if my dogs are strays. I say one used to be a while back. She then proceeds to give me the most condescending look and informs me that my dogs are too skinny. Yeah, tell me something new. At that time, we had just moved from a place where they ran around in a cow field and swam in a pond almost every day. You try keeping weight on two younger dogs who never stop moving. (They're now on the verge of being overweight due to city living and calming down.) If all this wasn't enough, I called the manager when I arrived home to ask some pertinent questions such as "Can you confirm which dog it was?" and "Why was there a bowl of dog food sitting next to the fence?" and "Would you please clarify what was meant by 'fight'?" and "Why wasn't I called immediately if the dogs were in a dangerous situation?" The manager tells me she hasn't heard anything about this and would call me back. This was in January. It is now July. Long story short, the facility is nice enough, but the workers have little to no clue about dog behavior. Management is disorganized and unreliable. I do not recommend. read more

Their daycare and boarding was awesome and saved us as we were selling our house. The staff was so kind and friendly to both the humans and the dogs. We recently moved to Indiana from Tennessee and were very sad to leave our great doggie daycare and boarding facility. We looked and visited a few sites on the internet and in person once we arrived and are So Very Thankful that we found Bunk and Biscuit! Our Samantha starts whining as we round the bend on the road and is just beside herself till we get inside and she sees all her new human and doggie friends! We also used the boarding facility on our last trip out of town and were very pleased! The facility is just top rate, and beautifully maintained. My dog was boarded for six days and healthy as can be going in. I picked him up from them and he didn't move off his bed for over 15 hours and developed a cough. I was literally bringing him food and water to his bed. I'm not talking about a 10 year old dog either I'm talking about a 2 year old lab. He is now on 20 days of antibiotics. I informed the kennel of the situation and all they had to say was I'm sorry. I wanted to inform them because they could have a severely infectious viral or bacterial infection and they said I signed a waiver when he was boarded. I understand that things happen but they had no sympathy for my dog or our situation. After a week of antibiotics he's starting to come around and back to his normal self. Also, my dog is my child so I was on the webcams multiple times a day and I wasn't happy watching. I tried to catch a video of my dog outside during his "kennel" days and not the days I signed him up for daycare. I literally did not see him outside once and I checked throughout the day. Watching the webcams I watched the other kennel dogs and felt horrible watching them pace the rooms. Not only did he end up on 20 days of antibiotics, he also had sores on his paws. I'm very disappointed in the facility overall. read more

The first time I boarded my dog he came home sick. I thought it was just a fluke so I boarded him again just about a year later. The second time he came home totally filthy. When I asked about giving him the treats and food I provided they assured me that he was given them according to my instructions. It was rather strange to hear that since all of his treats and his wet food were in his bag when I brought him home. They flat out lied!!! Then my poor pup ended up sick - again. $500 to board for 8 days and another $300 for the vet. Never again. Definitely not premium care for a premium price. read more

I chose this kennel after reading their ad in the Full Moon Paper. I picked up my 2 labs after a 10 day stay and when brought into the lobby one was coughing/gagging which the girl said was the first time she had heard him do this. Both dogs were coughing & throwing up flem the next day. During a $125.00 visit to the vet for antibiotic & steriod shots and cough drops I was also informed that one dog had lost 5 lbs and the other dog had lost 13 lbs, had diarrhea and a fever. I had paid $770.00 for this stay. I contacted Bunk & Biscuit and they said this was very unfortunate. I feel I should have been told that the kennel cough virus was present in their kennel. You may want to rethink using this kennel as my dogs have had a miserable week and are still not well. read more

I believe they took very good care of my dog but unfortunately I was very disappointed in the way I was treated at pickup. We have never left our dog for this long and he was a rescue from a puppy mill and I didn t want him put In a cage. The facility was beautiful and had glass rooms. When I called to make a reservation I was quoted $30 a night and could pick him up on Sunday between 4-6pm. He was there for 10 days. When we went to pick him up the following Sunday the door was locked and was told since Monday was Memorial day they decided to close Sunday for the holiday and that I can pick him up on Monday. I explained to the lady that I was never informed of this change and since we were already there can they please give us our dog. She had to call management and ask permission if we can have our dog. They finally let us have him. About 20 min later I get a call from someone named Mary. KooShe was very rude to me and continued to inform me that they were closed on Sunday and that we should of picked him up on Monday before noon. I tried to explain to her that I was sorry and that no one ever told us. She was so snotty and told me that they called all the boarders the week before to inform them. I told her we were in Florida and that no one ever called me. Then she told me I still have to pay for Monday since they were officially closed Sunday. Told me my balance was $429. I told her that seemed high for $30 a day and she told me it is $39 a day.. I told her I was quoted $30 a day and she told me no one there would of ever quoted me that. I had also made a reservation for my dog in June. I told her I was very unhappy on how I was treated and how much I was miss informed and to just cancel my reservation for June. All she said was OK. Never said she was sorry for the mass confusion. Acted like she didn't even care. I will never take my pet there again. I can only hope they treated my dog better then they treated me. read more

One of our dogs has health issues and they took the time to ensure her medications would be given in at specified time. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable leaving them at Bunk'N Biscuit. When our dogs had been boarded elsewhere, they would come home smelly and needed bathing. When we picked up our dogs from Bunk'N Biscuit they were clean and happy. read more

Absolutely incredible care! This was the first time we we going to have to board our dogs Max and Molly. We enjoy visiting the casino in New Buffalo MI, and this is just 30 minutes from there. We did some research before choosing the Bunk and Biscuit and it was the best decision we could have made. The room they stayed in was nice and didn't feel like a "jail cell". We walked into the room and closed the sliding glass door to get a feel for the noise level and even though the other rooms were full of barking dogs, it was quiet with the door closed and the tv on low. Plenty of room for our 66lb lab and 26lb terrier to share. The webcams are wonderful! I read another review where they said they never saw their dogs. We were gone for 2 nights and I probably saw my dogs on the webcam at least 4 times. They are let out to play every 2 hours. So if you didn't see them at 1 o'clock, it's a good chance you will see them at 2 if you check back. Not only were we able to watch them on the webcam, but we were emailed 3 pictures of them telling us what a great time they were having! LOVED getting that email. The staff was wonderful and listened to all of our parent worries. We will ABSOLUTELY be using them again and I would recommend them to anyone visiting the area. read more

My new puppy is my baby. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bunk and biscuit. First of all its a lovely, state of the art facility. They keep it clean, they are knowledgeable and well managed. I started bringing my 6-month-old doberman to the daycare for a few hours for play time and socializing just a couple of weeks ago. She was very very nervous of other dogs. She would run away and cry if any dog even tried to sniff her or approach her. They helped to introduce her slowly to the pack of dogs, giving her just one or two to play with at first. They had so much patience. I just picked my doberman up from boarding there for five days while I was in Mexico. She was such a happy, playful dog. You could tell the way she interacted with the employee and the other dogs that she had had a fantastic time. All of her nervous stress was completely gone! I am bursting with pride and happiness at the attitude she had when I picked her up. I would absolutely recommend them and I will be back. I trust them completely to love and care for my baby while I'm away! read more
