Unfortunately I would not recommend anyone to take their pet to this place. 7 nights @ $1,200 for two dogs...... Paid for the upgraded package which included daily pictures sent. These were not received for the first two days until I called to enquirer - somehow I opted out of text messages but paid for this upgrade????? Once I finally got the pictures, one showed my dog with large amounts of drool and fluid/foam coming out of her mouth - which has never happened before. Called asap the next morning to be assured everything was OK...... Finally picked them up only to have the one dog have severe dehydration and diarrhea of which required an emergency vet visit on a Sunday morning (less then 24 hours from bringing them home). $400 later with fluids and meds the dog is getting back to normal. Additionally I paid for baths for the dog, which were never done however still charged... Their initial response to this was a "future credit for a bath". They also claim to have a $500 pet care promise of which I am still unclear what this covers as they had no intention to cover my pets emergency vet visit. They did end up refunding the bath they never performed, however I would give this place NO recommendation and will never be back again. read more

I had to give them one star. The do NOT deserve that. I just picked up my little dog, who had wet diahreah all over him . They offered me not nearly enough wet wipes to try to clean him up for transport home. His bed and blanket had been laundered, but had new stains on one them. His bottom was so red and sore I could barely clean him up. I gave him a bathe a really saw how red he was. Our veterinarian clinic got him in this morning. So over $288 dollars and 3 medications later. If id brought a dog into a vet clinic like this, they would have referred animal control on neglect case. I will never go back, and I've already started to let people I know how badly my dog was cared for. read more

Best place around! My pup comes home tired and happy every day after daycare! When he sees me for pick up he is happy but doesn't want to stop playing with the other dogs. He's a bit of a handful and very energetic but Bittersweet has been wonderful in making sure he is well exercised. They are always happy to see him when he comes in and they make sure to ask what we are working on with his behaviors so they can continue to work with him. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, but the execution of the work was bad and disappointing. I've taken my dog to the groomers before in Texas. I always ask for the same thing- really short and even everywhere. I know it's possible because it's been done before, despite her fragile and bony figure. It cost me $40, but I honestly think it wasn't worth it. It just looks terrible. Her face looks dirty. The cut is uneven. I hate to think that they didn't care about her at all. I was very hopeful for this new location, but I'll be going somewhere else in the future. read more

We absolutely love our son's riding lessons at Bittersweet with Ella. Our 5 year old is very timid and has some trauma in his life, but his time with Ella always encourages him to relax, open up and experience a very therapeutic connection with whatever horse he is on- and of course with Ella. Don't board your dog here. I don't know about daycare but boarding sucks. They accept too many dogs at once and there is not enough space or workers. Not all dogs (especially ones that need individual playtime) get their playtime the owner paid for. A lot of the dogs in the standard kennels do not have any bedding. They don't put in beds even if the owner brought it for their dog. And they lie and say the bed wasn't in because it was getting washed, which isn't true. Most of the dogs also have no blankets either, even though they say they are provided. read more

Our 13 month old GSD has been going to Bittersweet pet resort since he was 6 months old and we both love it! They treat him very well and he gets a lot of exercise daily. The staff is always friendly and courteous. We've not boarded our dog before, but would have no issue choosing Bittersweet pet resort to take care of our pup. They post pics on their facebook page often, so you can see your pup at play. we love it! read more

It's just ok. My pups have been going to a camp for many years. We switched to here after a move. After about 15 visits, the staff still didn't know my pups names, my pups tried to follow me out when I left (they would run inside to counselors calling their names at the previous place), and were not tired after spending 8 hours there. They keep your dogs in runs and rotate playtimes. My guess is they probably get 2-4 hours of actual yard time. They forgot to move our regularly scheduled time from April to May, so I couldn't bring them in as planned. I had to scramble take them somewhere else so I could keep my plans. I asked for a refund for my remaining days and they refused. It's a pretty first impression, but very disappointing experience overall. I switched back to Camp K9 where counselors greet them with enthusiasm, my pups can't wait to go play, and they play all day! It's worth the drive. read more

Horrible boarding experience that left one of my dogs injured. I left both my dogs at bittersweet over the holiday for one week. During pick up they give you a report which basically said both dogs did good at the resort. No where on report that injuries happened which suggests they didn't pay attention to the dog or notice them. I notice the injuries once I got home and was wiping my dog's paw and face. There was an eye injury and half a claw is missing with the red part exposed. I called and spoke to 2 people who said they were sorry but didn't offer anything to help with injuries or at least return boarding costs for the injured dog. I sent an email including photos of the injuries and still have not heard back. Poor poor service. The people who work there might seem nice but the care for your dog is not there. read more

Just set up board and train regarding my sister's dog, so we'll see how the pup does. But, this review isn't as to their substantive training effectiveness, but purely as to customer service, particularly regarding billing. Their billing is extremely confusing and they have "add-ons" or pricing that fluctuates depending on many not-so-clear conditions. They make it OVERLY complicated. Setting up the package for my sister's dog was frustrating and it was like pulling nails to get a clear answer of what was being paid for. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as to improving, as hopefully their training is far better. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Left my 7 month old baby for an overnight stay. I was transparent with the staff that I was nervous to leave her and they assured me everything would be fine. I accepted all of the upgrades that were offered in hopes this would allow more time and attention for my puppy. The first day went great or so I thought, I received photo updates that she was adjusting well and getting cuddles from the staff. By the second day, the update was not as positive but I didn't worry right away. When I arrived to pick her up, they let me know that she "didn't want to go outside to potty so she had a few accidents, but it was cleaned up right away". I went back to the suites to retrieve her and she was huddled and cowering in a corner. She was wet (with urine) and she smelled like pee. One of the upgrades I paid for was for a bath and nail treatment which was clearly not done. I also left her bed, blanket, and some toys when I dropped her off and they were not even in the room with her but sitting outside. I also left a full bag of food which I didn't receive back but hopefully it will at least feed someone's pet. Since I paid before picking her up and didn't receive a print out of the charges I'm not even really sure what all I paid for. I'm giving two stars: 1 because at least she's still alive which it seems is about all I could expect and 1 because I truly don't feel like this is the staff's fault. Everyone I met prior to dropping her off (went in on a separate day for a tour), at drop-off, and even at pick-up seemed nice overall. I think this place needs an over all culture change to really succeed as I believe the staff is just following standard procedure or perhaps they are understaffed to provide the care and attention they promise. read more

Very unprofessional staff of teenagers. Billing is rarely handled correctly. Both my dogs have gotten BITTEN by other dogs, KENNEL COUGH, and other various injuries. The number of dogs to staff is very high. I have been to the "playroom" which is a garage with many pens in it. I will not be returning. read more

I'm so thankful Bittersweet was recommended to us from a fellow animal lover. We've been taking our cat to Bittersweet for the past three years after he decided to make one of our plants his litter box while we were gone for Thanksgiving. Having been a rescue from a shelter, I wasn't sure how he'd react. What happened, you ask? We picked him up and he was his sweet purring self. He's been a fairly regular guest over the last three years and he has YET to do anything naughty when he returns from Bittersweet and loves his time with the other kitties, Lynna and spending time in the cat tree. Our puppy was a recent guest at Bittersweet as well. Having some anxiety for his first time away from home, I was comforted knowing the quality of care he would receive. We picked him up - happy as ever - and tired after a full weekend of playing with the other guests. The staff takes care of their guests - both our cat and puppy have returned clean and happy. Blankets or beds get washed in case something happens, such as your cat throwing up on his blanket or your puppy dragging his bed from the indoor run to his outdoor run. If you look at the images posted to their Facebook page, you can see the guests are well taken care of and are part of the Bittersweet family. You can even have daily emails with updates and images sent to you to keep your mind at ease. I highly recommend Bittersweet. read more

Obi runs to the door and waits for me to open it when we get to Bittersweet. They love and care for the animals there as if they're family. I never have a care or concern leaving him for a day or a week. When I pick him up, he's happy, well nourished and reluctant to leave. read more

My dog has stayed here multiple times and he absolutely LOVES it! The luxury suites are really nice and homey. The staff are super friendly and always tell me how much they love taking care of George (even though he's kind of a pain in the butt, haha). He always leaves very happy and excited and then sleeps for the rest of the day because he's so tired from all the extra playtime. I wouldn't take him anywhere else! Highly recommend. read more

We moved to South Bend, Indiana one year ago and needed to find a place to board our dog Sonny. Bittersweet Pet Resort & Stables was a recommendation to us. After boarding Sonny there once, we have no desire to find another boarding facility. This place is incredible! The kennels are clean and fresh, the staff knowledgeable and friendly. The whole facility is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. They offer so many services to care for and pamper your pet that you never have to worry about them while you are away. A big plus for us. This is a first class operation that I would recommend to anyone! read more
