What was once a compassionate office that cared about animals, seems to now only care about the bottom dollar. We were first turned away when we voiced concerns about our cat who had a stomach procedure done started to drop weight fast and drool from her mouth shortly after. We were told they didn't have time and to go to Williamston. Upon arriving there they discovered her mouth full of cancer and were shocked she had just been at dvh so recently.. She was put to sleep the same day due to her pain. We made the decision to go back against our better judgement, but because I'd been going there for as long as I've been in DeWitt. Which brings us to today. Our 3 year old cat has been being checked regularly for what they deemed ibs through multiple blood test, one of which they encouraged us to send out to a specialist for over $300. No problem, I'll spend that to make sure my animal is ok. His face swelled today and he is acting lethargic. I called to see if we could be seen and after explaining symptoms the on site doctor determined there was no time to get him in and encouraged Williamston again. I asked when first appointment was available and was told not until mid December. My animal is suffering and you suggest waiting until then? No thank you. I am done and will never come back. I am so sad that a once amazing office has now decided with their massive building and multiple doctors that long time patients are not important enough for even 5 minutes of a conversation. I'll take the small old office with Dr. Wendy. That was the last time it felt like the priority was animals.

They really need to get educated about the symptoms of Fip. An adopter went there with their sick…read morekitty and they did several tests, xrays, antibiotics, etc. Charged them $800 , told them it definitely wasn't Fip and suggested either euthanasia or a specialist. Well, since this couple loved their kitty so much they took her to an ER vet (MedVet in Commerce). They are highly qualified and competent veterinarians and specialists. MedVet also ran all kinds of tests and racked up $3400. Come to find out, the original test that were done at Cross Veterinary Clinic showed ALL symptoms of Fip. If they would have been told that the kitty could have started getting treated for Fip right away and they wouldn't have a $3400 bill on top of the $800. If they don't know the symptoms of Fip they should refer them to someone who does and by no means say it isn't when it absolutely was.

Her practice in Flushing is based on her wonderful view of life. I have taken my two Golden Retrievers there for several years now. She and her staff, take the time to answer questions and accommodate our needs. Staff are friendly and always patient. They know us by name and are willing to manage prescriptions and services with patience and flexibility. I trust them implicitly. One of touching parts is how the Dr Koan and staff see the dogs personality. The 'patient' is not just a dog. She has a soul and personality that is respected. Before Riverside, I only had to drive 15 minutes for my dog's care. I willingly drive 45 minutes to be with these wonderful caring professionals. I highly recommend Riverside clinic, Dr Koan, Support staff and newly added DVM's.
