Due to some unforeseen medical issue, he lost use of his left leg and was in a lot of pain when trying to get up and move around. Prior to his next day doctor's appointment, contacting insurance or going out and purchasing one... I called up Chippewa Place and asked if they had a Walker we could use. Spoke to some very nice young ladies that told me they had an extra one and he could have it. How lovely, generous, kind and caring! Picked it up shortly after and it was in remarkable condition. More than what I had in mind and it made a world of difference. They wanted nothing in return other than helping out and being wonderful people. Thank You So Very Much!

Much thought has been given to creating a pleasant experience for visitors and residents alike. Garden areas are wonderful during spring, summer and fall for walks, bird watching, gardening. There are plenty of events, celebrations to meet various interests/abilities. They have just built a new addition which was handled in such a creative, thoughtful way -- residents' lives remained normal and calm despite construction. Plus, it is beautiful! Most important, I am thrilled with the level of care, concern and genuine affection/compassion the staff provides and exhibits toward my mother, as well as the other residents. Patience, understanding, creativity and sense of family are very evident whether a resident's family member is present or not. Nurses and caregivers have gone out of their way to meet my mother's needs and mine as well -- so I'd don't need to guess how she is doing. They share anecdotes of what she's said or done during the day; if she's happy, sad; ate well/or not so well; was up all night or slept well -- without my asking. This is very important to me as her primary caregiver. They are truly extensions of me and do it better than I ever could at this point in her journey. We are both blessed to have found such a wonderful place for her to live.

So many smiles and cheer they bring to the residents. The activities are varied enough that there is something for everyone. The location is wonderful with so much within walking distance. My father passed a year ago and our entire family including my Mom were treated so kindly. My mother has had to move up through the care levels and it always feels like they customize her care to best fit her specific needs. I used to work at the restaurant called radius and sometimes in the bistro. As a waitress. At first it was great money and the hardest part was remembering the members names and preferences. But, there are many cons to working there and for me they eventually outweighed the pros. The schedule you are given isn't really up for debate. There are so few servers that they absolutely need you and no one can cover when you are sick really. Which sucks for the rest of the servers left there because then things get hectic. Also, you pretty much can expect to be forced to work Sunday mornings, Christmas, Easter and thanksgiving. Even if I absolutely had to call off they really didn't take no for an answer. My biggest problem is corporate. They have no idea how a restaurant runs and how many employees you need or how to pay them. Many times my check was messed up and they ended up blaming it on us saying we didn't keep track of our tips right so we owed them money. I was forced to give them $900 at one point. They also ended up taking away tips because we were making too much money. So now it's hourly. My thought process was, if they expect me to work holidays (which are the busiest ever. So hectic.) I'd like to be tipped. I got very unmotivated because I used to make so much money on holidays and now that they pay hourly i was doing 20 times more work for the same pay. I also noticed my pay check never seemed to add up to the hourly they said they were paying me. I swear it was minimum wage. They ended up messing up my check 3 times and I said I would quit after the 3rd time. And that's what I did. Besides that the food there is great lol

I was struck by the warmth of the place, just a welcoming homey and dynamic environment. Staff seems caring and accommodating. Some of the residents who were in the lobby were smiling and joking around. Others, in the dining room, were keeping busy, playing cards and bingo. One big family. This seems to be the place one would trust to help care for the loved one.

They NEVER gave her her medication the way she was supposed to get it. While living there, she constantly had glucose readings near 500, and they let the medication run out instead of reordering it on time. And when I complained, they always had an excuse. And the Director never listened to me and my complaints, all she did was cover up for the nursing director. My mom was there from June 30th through the end of November. Since she has been living with me, all of her numbers for her doctors are heading in the right direction, and all of her doctors have told me that. And her food was never hot when she ate any of her meals. It was either tepid or cool. I would never recommend that facility to anyone.

My father was recently a patient here and spent his final days in peace and comfort, thanks to the…read morehard-working and compassionate staff at Holy Family. The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.
