The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.

She has gone above and beyond any expectations we had. Not only was she there to help, advise, inform and care for my MIL, but after we moved her back to Michigan, Kara become OUR advocate. She not only helped us with medical transport but she went along to make sure my MIL arrived safely and comfortably! She has continued to help us with so many different things, including the sale of my MIL's home (and removing ALL the things she had and setting up charities to receive the stuff) and finding an advocate for us in Michigan. She is hardworking, HONEST, helpful, caring, compassionate and just a wonderful person. I don't know how my husband found her, but I thank GOD that he did. When her work is finally done I will still be honored to be a friend to Kara because she has been more than a friend to our family. We can never thank her enough for everything she has done for us..

They refused to treat my pancreatitis, and the head nurse instead called me a "drug addict". I am retired career law-enforcement, having been a police officer in Ohio, as well as a federal agent, end in the military before that. So I had been drug tested my entire career. This hospital failed to give me my blood pressure meds for three days, as well as the rest of my meds, which made my blood pressure dangerously high. I laid there for three days in extreme pain from acute pancreatitis, and they did nothing. I got myself together enough to go into the hall and ask for help from any nurse passing by, because they stopped coming to my room to even check on me. Their answer was not to help me or take a second look at everything, but rather to try to confine me to the hospital bed as the head nurse attempted to "pink slip" me for asking for care after being abandoned in my room and not checked on. Do not make the mistake of going to this hospital. They are ignorant, incompetent, and lack any standard of care whatsoever. I got transferred there because of their affiliation, in name, with Cleveland Clinic. Do not allow this to happen to you. Make no mistake, the hospital is no Cleveland Clinic. Ignorant, incompetent, lacking any standard of care. Do not go there.

The last time was the worst. They wanted to release my 90 year old aunt with less than a days notice on a freezing cold winter day when no one was at her home to care for her and hospice could not get there to set up for her for 2 days! That us only one example of their total incompetence and lack of compassion with the exception of one doctor who was in charge of my 90 year old aunt's care. Never ever use this hospital.

If I could rate this "nursing facility" any lower it would be -5 stars! Contrary to my previous…read moreposting I AM NOT in San Francisco, I am near the Mayfield Hts., Oh facility. Which is why I am reposting my previous review. Please do not send anyone you love or care about to this facility. And their website states they haven't had any issues or fines, that's a lie! I made a formal complaint last year to the Ohio Dept of Health, who ruled that my compliant was substantiated, they were sited and fined. THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT TRAINED ADEQUATELY TO ADMINISTER HOSPICE CARE. I too, have given this establishment 1 star because there has to be some kind of rating to write this review. My dad received "care" here for less than 30 days. He was admitted for hospice care, which at Manor Care of Mayfield Hts., was anything but! My dad had dementia and a recent partial hip replacement because of an unmonitored fall at another physical therapy facility. (Another review) It wasn't expected that he was going to pass away immediately, he just need extra care because of his mental status and inability to do anything for himself. Inside of 4 days he developed a good sized bed sore at his tailbone. I was the one who discovered it, not the staff. I discovered the sore because my dad was screaming out in pain and I took over cleaning him because the aide was using a DRY washcloth to cleanse him. I summoned the nurse who told me "I have to call hospice". She never touched him or took over cleansing his wound at all, I DID IT! My dad was very depressed during his stay at the facility and would not open his eyes, however he was not always sleeping. Very few aides or nurses actually came into his room other than to try to feed him or change him for bed. Their response was always, he's sleeping. Every day that I spent with him there the 1st thing I would do is offer water which he consumed as if he was parched, with his eyes closed. He cheeked his food and no one bothered to attempt to remove it. I would find whole pieces of food in his mouth when I checked it, and reported it several times, I even had a care meeting with the staff regarding this. The administrator was always sweet, apologetic, compassionate and understanding, BUT SHE DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE! He was never repositioned unless he was being changed, but most often, back into the same position! After 2 1/2 weeks of this my dad started shutting down and refused food. The bedsore he had, had grown into the size of a saucer for a tea cup and oozing blood! It did not throw up any alarms to any one but me, why? When the time came and he started transitioning to death, there was no step up in care at all. No continuous check on his vitals, his comfort, or his dignity through this transition. There was not a member of this establishment that sat vigil on him other than family as he laid there dying. In his last hours I had to go to the nurses station 3 times to get some assistance because he was struggling too hard to breathe. Because I was angry the 3rd time another nurse not assigned to him came to check him. He had a fever of 101 degrees and his pulse was 125! When his nurse came back to the floor after 2-3- minutes, she actually told me that she had to go and check the hospice protocol! SERIOUSLY?! Again the common phrase, "I have to call hospice". I had to explain to her that their doctor was in charge and they needed to call him. The nurse who came to check his vitals walked away and called the doctor of the facility who dispensed meds that had already been prescribed (morphine) to assist him in his breathing. My dad expired 2 hours later. My dad was a patient of Cleveland Clinic hospice who was overseeing his care. I have asked them to remove Manor Car of Mayfield Hts OFF of their list of Hospice care facilities. My dad was there less than 30 days and suffered needlessly, even in what was apparent was his last days. He was too frail by then (I think) to have been moved somewhere else. I wish I had did it anyway, he passed away June 30, 2018. THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT TRAINED ADEQUATELY TO ADMINISTER HOSPICE CARE.

Fact is she became terribly depressed and her leg became tremendously swollen due to a blood clot, while there. And while they administered drugs to her, they never bothered to raise her leg to aid in the reduction (seriously). Nevertheless, whatever she did seemed to have has little if any positive effect on her, as she is presently the same prior to being there. Being a Pastor for 20 years and in ministry for well over 35, I have not yet, visited or ministered in a proposed profession nursing facility such as this. Here is what I noticed. 1. Poorly/under staffed 2. Inconsistent treatment 3. Low quality food (cold) 4. Atmosphere wrecks of urine and bowel 5. Does not wash patients 6. Crude doctor 7. Unchanged beds 8. Poor security 9. Patients complaining 10. Staffed overworked and complaining 11. Insects 12. Nurse call button does not work 13. Bed partially functional 14. Loud music played by staff 15. Dirty floor and carpet 16. Minimal doctor visitation 17. Poor medical care 18. Inconsistent meal times 19. Staff multi-tasking 20. Patients (family) arguing with staff At any rate, we have removed mom, and she has improved vastly. And while the staff was quite friendly, this cannot supersede the value of proper care patients need. It is therefore, my estimation that this place is living hell for those unable to help themselves, and a potential grave yard if we permit it.
