Went here to print a coil-bound book for a homework assignment. Very helpful and easy communication. The process was fast smooth, especially for my first-time experience with printing. Every step was reviewed as well for quality check: the first printed pages, then the trimmed edges, and lastly the final product. I expected a few hours, but it only took one hour from redownloading the correct file to having my ~150-page book printed, trimmed, and bound. Also, very considerate with giving me a plastic bag for my finished product when there was a downpour. Do note the parking lot is small, and you'll likely have to walk to your destination. If you're an ani student, this is one of the few good print shops to get your journals and notebooks printed. Close to campus and highly recommended by professors and students. Just make sure to bring your laptop in case there's a need to redownload a file. And print it the week before it's due! read more

Their website says they do shipping services, but when I went in the white lady at the front was rude out the gate and snobbishly turned me away. The white lady with the accent was rude. She was giving a hostile attitude even when I am the only customer she had. Also, my service only costed 10 cents; however, they have a $2 minimum purchase. What did not make sense to me was when she charged me separately when I tried adding one of the drinks they were selling. I did not even argue anymore because it was stupid that she had to charge me extra for the drink when my printing service only costed 10 cents. I figured she would get what I was trying to do since I am being charged $2 for a 10 cent item and trying to get my money's worth. This printing store is a scam! read more

The AS Print shop closes fairly early during the summer sessions in SJSU campus, so I needed to find a printer since I was a bit desperate I had to print out two pages for 2 dollars..... it's a very WTF moment for me. Service here isn't rude or anything, I just didn't like the policy. The policy of $2.00 minimum I thought was a bit unfair. How the clerk rationalized it was it took time for a person to print out the sheet of paper kinda make logical sense. But I still find it a bit too much. Why dont they have a free computer so we can do itselves then? However, they have a sign in the front of the store that says "Course Readers, please pick up it at 330 South 10th Street, which is right around the corner." Even though we had to walk little bit, we eventually found that place easily. The new location has only the course readers so you should know your teacher's name and section number in order to get the correct textbook. Also, it's cash or check only so make sure you take your money. Very knowledgeable people at Maple Press! I came in with a bunch of last-minute needs regarding binding some of my project booklets as well as business cards. Rose and Anna were very helpful, and ran through a couple options with me. They also printed samples of my images on different paper types so that I could achieve the desired look, and even gave me advice on how to bind some of my work myself if things came down to the wire. Especially for such a busy time of the year, I appreciated that they cared about what I was trying to produce and how I could make it all work. The pricing is pretty decent as well compared to the other local print shops I visited. Definitely recommend if you are in a bind (no pun intended). read more

I left frustrated. This was my first printing experience here at Maple Press, normally I print at Plotter Pros or Fedex, decided to give it a try. There was printing orders being done behind the counter, but no other customer in the store. Came in, was greeted by the cashier and a women in the back with short blond hair and a european accent helped me to print a single 11x17 on 80 pound. Very stern and no smile, very too the point (which is totally okay) but spoke very rudely when she told me to print on a different paper (60 pound) and when I asked about the print quality. I asked if there was anyway to fix the altered color that came out, and she immediately responded sternly asking "How do you know what your image looks like?" "Is it even calibrated on your monitor?" I replied "Yes" to which she responded as if I had no clue what I was talking about, "Well how?"she said. I responded "The SJSU photo department requires us to calibrate our monitors with their equipment." She was silent, and I quickly retorted, "It is fine if you cannot do anything, I was just asking if there was", (In my past experience Fedex has helped overcome their print quality fluctuations, or not put the blame on me so intensely). The attitude and tone she gave me completely took me back, and I was extremely uncomfortable. It is unfortunate because I have read some good reviews on Yelp, this initial experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be returning. Oh my goodness the lady at the counter scares me. I only come here when I'm strapped for time and am forced to print my projects near campus. The prints come out fine, for the most part (nothing too fancy; if you need a gorgeous print, go elsewhere), but I always feel like she's deigning to do me a favor by printing for me. This is a small, professional print shop that specializes in bulk printing. Do not come here to print less than 80ish pages, as there is a minimum charge. I've only ever been here to get large documents (100+ pages) printed. I don't know about the readers or workbooks that are made and sold here. The shop's equipment and work area take up much of the room. Customers are only allowed in the front area, which consists of a long table and two waiting chairs. Maple Press is not self-service, so the clerk will be performing prints according to your requirements. The clerk that usually services customers is very friendly, professional, and polite. So far, she's done a great job on printing my documents according to requirements. She is relatively attentive to detail and may point out formatting that appears incorrect or out of place. Of course, she'll confirm your final request back to you before actually hitting the print command. In the end, my documents always come out as expected and any extras, such as binding, is affordable. TL;DR: the staff is friendly, the prints are cheap, and the quality is excellent. I'll come again for large prints. For anyone looking for small and/or minor print jobs, SJSU has two print shops on campus for that. read more

Extremely unfriendly and unhelpful staff. I needed a booklet printed full bleed so I called before hand to find out what format to save it in. I was told to include bleed marks and crop marks so I did. I waited in line for 15 min and as soon as I told the lady that I needed a booklet printed full bleed she had an attitude and said something in another language. She looked at my file and said that it wasn't saved in the right format and that there were no bleed or crop marks, but didn't offer any advice or help as to what I should do. I mean isn't it your job to provide assistance? And to top it off she told me that maybe I should just take it to fed ex. It was obvious that she just didn't want to help me. Picture a spiral. Now picture a spiral notebook. Easy right? You picture the classic notebook with the continuous upward loop right? The one that is shaped like a stretched out coil? Apparently the people here don't know what a spiral is. They call the spiral bind a coil bind, which kinda makes sense. What doesn't make sense is if you ask for a spiral bind they give you a cheap plastic spine that in no way resembles a spiral. This has happened to me twice already and when I confronted the owner the second time she told me that it is a spiral because that's what the box says. Second semester I have to deal with a poorly bonded notebook because they don't know what a spiral is and didn't think to look it up after the first complaint. read more

I agree with others- CASH only, I understand that there are services that take credit cards that charge BUT square and other services take like 2 percent- pass that on to the consumer COME ON!!!! I was 9 months pregnant there and had to fight rush hour traffic - go all the home and back to get cash- this place is stuck in the 1950's. The heart of the Silicon Valley..? Hate to say it but I will.... this is why folks move to online business because local businesses need to provide customer service, and keep up with the times to stay in business. horrible service! went in this morning to purchase 2 readers. They said they don't have one of the readers i needed and wouldn't have it until wednesday of next week. So i bought the other reader i needed which was in stock. I emailed my professor to let her know that they didn't have the reader and wouldn't have it until next week, she emailed me back and told me she called the store and they said they have copies of the reader. so i just called the store and asked if they have the reader, and she replied YES! i told her i was just there an hour ago and asked and they said they didn't have the reader until next week but they have it now? she said well we have more copies on the shelf and in the box. My question is why didn't you just say that to begin with?! i wouldn't have had any problem waiting for it to be printed! instead drove all the way home and now i have to drive all the way back! so irritated! this place sucks! Great quality, price, and service. I was extremely pleased with my visit here. Not only did they try their best to accommodate all my needs but they also gave me an amazing price. Definitely the cheapest prices in town. Something to note is that there is no self service so they do have a minimum charge of $2 which is understandable. Sometimes they can be very busy and not have much time to spend with their customers but if you are polite and friendly they reciprocate that, and you can leave with everything you wanted for a very cheap price. read more

Extremely rude staff. One of them never smiles and always has this attitude. They don't accept cards (cash only), you cant print out of your email, the file has to be on a flash memory, and it has to be a pdf file, not to mention the waiting time (they either ran out of ink, or the employee is having a chat outside). But when you want to print more than one file she says "this is time consuming for me, they should be added in one file". So it's ok to waste the time of your customers, but the extra 10 seconds are too much for you. Definitely not going back again. read more
