I had an excellent experience in every aspect of diving with Maple Leaf. Every employee from the front desk to the dock are friendly and upbeat. All the dives were well organized and smooth. For my advanced class, we went to many different locations, the variety was great. My teacher, Meghan was very cool and positive. She made the lessons easy to understand and was extremely patient and reassuring. I dove with her the entire trip and felt safe and relaxed. Special bonus: she has impossibly good eyes for spotting wildlife! She found some incredibly small things for me to look at so bring a camera with big zoom. Thanks!

My wife and I LOVED our experience with Maple Leaf Scuba. We completed four dives as novice divers and had a blast! These amazing folks came highly recommended from a friend prior to arrival. The reefs a couple hundred feet off the Cozumel shoreline is truly magical and life giving! High points: 1. The owner Glenda helped answer all of our questions in a timely manner. We are new to this but with her help it was simple to figure out and jump in! 2. Meg helped us learn on day one and was fantastic! She was clear, patient and really let us dive. We felt like we were drifting through the most beautiful aquarium filled with 83 degree water - bummed when our tanks finally ran out of air! I'm sure she was holding our hands but we didn't feel like it! She was fun, knowledgeable, encouraging and super kind. 3. Charlotte was our guide for our unplanned, but well worth it, day 2. She was amazing and super fun to dive with. She went above and beyond by sharing some of her personal equipment with my wife to make her experience better! She has a keen eye for all things cool and beautiful! 4. Such a personal and safe experience as we had our own guide to achieve day! Great stuff! 5. We loved our trip - here was our favorite part - the guides were so thrilled to help us explore and experience something they obviously love! Every clown fish or sea horse or lobster or shark or turtle or barracuda or puffer or 1/2" sea caterpillar was like the first one they'd ever seen and they were so excited to show us! What a great culture! Keep up the great work! We plan to return with the kids!

Great diving shop. Glenda the owner is great. Ask for Louise as a guide and are for a refresher. She is so good personable and fun. We saw turtles, nurse shark sting rays. A good tip is to meet at the Marina so you are in and out when you finish.

100% recommend this dive company. Glenda was amazing to work with and went above and beyond in so many ways to make our island stay exceptional. I have dove all over and have never met a better accommodating dive shop that is helpful both with diving and local knowledge. Everyone was overall kind, friendly, with quality and quick communicat--definitely make this your Cozumel dive shop. I would dive with them again any day.

Palancor: Gardens

My son and I dove with this great outfit aboard the Alana. They accommodated our schedule. All of the divemasters are extemely knowledgeable on the island's dive sites. Good equipment is available and the crew sets everything up for you. We had great dives at Palacor: Gardens and then San Clemente. Lots of swim throughs on the first dive. We saw three Tortugas (turtles) on the second dive. Great Fun!

Between dives!

This was my first time with boat entry, open water warm dives, and I had the best time! The entire experience was great. Service: As this was part of a solo travel for me, I was in communication with the dive shop via WhatsApp to make sure that I was fully prepared. I felt very comfortable the entire time, and everything was explained clearly. All materials and great were prepped and ready for me upon arrival, and all staff members that I was interacting with were kind and welcoming. Experience: We did two dives, and had some discussion on the boat as to what we most wanted to see, to help determine the locations that we would travel to. We settled on Palancar Bricks for the first dive, and La Francesa for the second. There were 7 divers with 3 dive masters, so despite being a solo traveler, I felt like I had a ton of support. The overview of the dive sites before entry was great, because it primed me for some of the aquatic life that we would see. As my first warm water and coral reef dive, I can say that scuba diving is one of the great privileges of my life--I was overcome with emotion at seeing so much! Schools of small (young) fishes, corals, large organisms, sponges, nurse sharks, barracuda, a seahorse, a cozumel toad fish, giant parrot fish, and so many more! Special thanks to Captain Mono, Jorge, Juan, and Javi who led our trip. If I ever have the fortune of returning to Cozumel, I will absolutely return for more trips!

Our group had several different diving levels from very experienced, nervous and 2 checkout divers. They fully accommodated our needs and took us on 2 amazing dives. They also brought us to a nice rest area in about 3 feet of water where we could paddle around and eat fruit and cookies and watch the sting rays. Our equipment was new and in good condition. We used steel tanks which was a new experience and they talked us through using it..The staff was knowledgeable and fun. Can't ask for more.

We just had a FANTASTIC week diving with Aldora! Where do I start?…read more Upon arriving in Cozumel, we walked to Aldora with our gear. We were each given a wet bag to keep anything we wanted them to set take to the boat each day, and clean afterwards. Each bag was tagged with your name. They were VERY well organized from the get go. We were picked up for the dives right across from our hotel (we chose a well rated hotel that happens to be across the street from Aldora's dock). Our BCDs and regs were always set up for us, with our wet bags in our respective cubbies with the rest of the gear we had left for them (fins, masks, etc). The boats are small and fast, which means quicker boat rides out to the dive sites, and small groups of divers per guide (max 6 divers per guide, but often less). The dives are LONG! Between the nitrox and large steel tanks, Aldora ensures that you can get maximum bottom time. Our only dives shorter than an hour were the "adventure" dives, as they were deeper, but all standard dives were 65+ minutes, with our longest at 86 min. There were always yummy boat snacks, typically fresh cut fruit and often a cookie or muffin. On the 1st dive of the adventure dive, we hunted lion fish and the captain made a DELICIOUS lion fish ceviche while we were on the 2nd dive. We thoroughly enjoyed the ceviche and a homemade guacamole during the 2nd surface interval. The guides were mainly fantastic. Our favorites were Arturo, Roberto, and Bernedice. They really went above and beyond, had great dive briefings, pointed out lots of neat sea critters, and were overall just good people. If you decide to change your dive itinerary, you can just text them through WhatsApp and they are very responsive and are accommodating. The dives are a little pricier than some other companies, but you're getting full service, and much longer dives than you'd get elsewhere. Great value for the slight increase in price. HIGHLY recommend, and will definitely be diving with Aldora again next time I'm in Cozumel!

We happen to be at the close report, but didn't realize it because we didn't bother googling directions. They were literally like four blocks from the ship port for Norwegian, but there is another port further down. That might be a 10 minute drive. After doing extensive research into the best dive shop on Cozumel, my husband and I chose Dressel…read moreDiving. We stayed at the Iberostar, which is not a dive resort, rather it is a resort which offers diving (what I mean by that is that the resort is not geared towards divers, there are no hooks or hangers to dry gear on your balcony, the restaurants allow people in bathing suits but not folded down wetsuits, there is no individual gear storage other than a small cubby and no provided locks). Anyway, on to the diving. Booking was very easy, I worked with a gal (who happened to be stationed in Spain) who helped me set up a package of dives, cenote excursions, and night dives. So everything was paid for when we arrived. Pros: - Almost all of the dive masters were awesome. Ricky was fantastic and so was Tania. We were always happy when we saw Ricky was our DM. He was the right amount of chill, knowledge, safety, and fun. -The dives were really fantastic. We only repeated one dive in 6 days of diving. - Water and fruit were available on the boat. -My husbands inflator hose malfunctioned and a guy in the dive shop fixed it for him with a spare part he had so my husband could use his equipment until we got home and get it serviced. -The boat staff were all very competent and helpful. -Free nitrox with your package. -Plentiful defogger on board -Short boat rides to amazing dive sites. Cons: - Before booking I asked if they had gear lockers. I hate toting all of our gear back and forth to a hotel room. I was told yes. When we arrived, we saw that there were not individual gear lockers, rather, small individual cubbies that would fit a few things but there were no locks. In additional, several of the cubbies didn't have chains on them to hold them secure even if you did have a lock. I asked if they had locks and they said they didn't. This meant we had to lug our gear back and forth to our hotel room and the dock, which sucked as the resort is expansive. I noticed not many people left there gear there. A few people hung up older wetsuits but I didnt see many BCDS in the room. - The gal checking us in was very aloof and not real friendly. I don't need butt kissing but she acted put out to be helping us and answering questions. - We didn't know where we were diving until we left on the boat. Even though they have a calendar of dives, they did not follow it (which I do understand if there are current or changing conditions, but everything seemed chill and there were no weather related issues). We were fine with the dives but if someone wanted to do a particular dive they might be disappointed with the scheduling. - The boats get crowded and more than once our tanks were not full and we had to swap them out for full tanks. One time it was 7 divers who were short on air in their tanks and several of us had to swap tanks 2-3 times. - They only book 2 tank dive packages so if you want to to break up your day of diving and don't want to do back to back dives, they charge you 10.00 per tank to break it up. We came to dive and dive we did, but if you are a diver who just likes one or two and have a big surface interval this system may not be the best for you. - On our last two dives we were placed in a group of brand new open water divers. I get it, we have all been there, but our dives were cut very short because of it (one dive ended at 39 minutes) which really sucked. The dm apologized to us privately but we weren't offered any discount or another dive to make up for it. -There is no retail dive shop to speak of, as far as gear to buy or incidentals you may need. No tshirts or any of the usual dive gear stuff us divers love to buy.

Note that there is no shore diving at the Iberostar due to the proximity to the aquatic park; snorkeling is permitted and equipment can be rented from the Dressel diver shop. Free pool check out of scuba equipment is provided by professionals for anyone expressing an interest in the sport. The dive shop is next to some of the best reefs in Cozumel/the world. The boats are well-maintained and well handled. The captains and crew are outstanding. This is a larger location for diving due to proximity to the reef so we were rotated through a variety of dive masters, all of whom we found to be professional and good at working with some of the newer divers in the water. Unlike some higher end locations, this is a very much haul your own equipment on and off the boat. If you ask for assistance and let them know that you might need some help they're willing to accommodate. There is tank filling on site and we had absolutely no exceptions with tank volumes. Boats tend to be larger and can be quite full depending on bookings; groups tend to be a mix of beginner and advanced, which can make dives uneven for all. Operation would benefit from sorting groups. We were able to successfully obtain our nitrox certification on site which was a game changer for a diving. Note that Nitrox surface intervals are minimally 30 minutes and prior to us completing our new certification we felt that the dive team might be pushing surface intervals too short for nitrox and non-nitrox alike in some instances due to late departure off the dock which we mentioned and the dive team adjusted times. There are wash tanks and storage rooms that are secured at night and rentals available on site. There's a small shop with some T-shirts, etc. but not much of a variety. Communications with this company is a big challenge and one of several reasons, along with surface interval protocol, why they're not getting five stars. Dressel Divers main office is in Spain and getting answers to simple questions about local issues were the a bit problematic. Neither of the phone numbers provided for the local shop or the extension for the shop at the hotel is attended. Boat postings and departure times are put on a whiteboard that is manually updated rather than a centralized communication system (Facebook?!) that would allow Divers to get regular updates on issues that would impact operations. Boat departures are listed anywhere from 8 AM onward and shop and storage rooms opening times can vary significantly due to the relaxed nature of the island. The dive sites are well planned, equipment in good shape, and overall a good value. Note that packages can be purchased in advance or at discounted rates for multiple dives. Dressel offers a very flexible refund policy and should be considered before purchasing larger amounts of dives in advance. It's not very clear who is in charge at this location and there are some problems with centralized communications and standard protocols at this shop but the diving is pretty solid.

Be sure to fill out the medical paperwork long before you come! If you check yes to anything you will need to have your dr sign off on your paperwork! The staff was friendly! The fee for the day is $8 per person for the place where we were going (that is in addition to the fee that you pay for the excursion) Be sure to bring cash for that and if you want to tip your guide. They can not run credit card tips..... For Discover Scuba they will start you off with getting fitted for gear, and then a talk over how everything works. It was a little overwhelming but once you get in it will all make sense. Then after that you will need to go and do a skills test of sorts to make sure you are going to be okay with everything under water. Once that is successfully completed, then you will head out on the boat, most likely with other groups. The overall experience was around 4 hours and very much worth it! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Our guide was super patient with us! Would highly recommend this company and experience if in cozumel area!

This outfit and, in particular, these people stand out with their very friendly approach and helpfulness. Not a lot of fluff but very competent. They know their sites, pay attention and take good and safe care of the divers. There were very seasoned divers and relative newbies. Pablo probably gave the most attention and concern to the briefs and the newbies. Colors are amazing. Don't forget your torch. Huge spiny lobsters and crabs. Nurse sharks. No shortage of barracudas. I was initially concerned about "mostly drift dives" but all were easily done. I had a few faster currents in Fiji from 2 years ago so it was not an issue. Definitely a consideration to return to this area and this outfit. Hope they get the licensing on their new boats. The current ones are very nice but a little slow so the transit times to the sites were a little long.
