I am writing to share my experience with No. 1 Automotive during the repair of my VW ID 4 after an…read moreaccident in October 2023. Although I initially chose this location because I believed they cared about their customers and the quality of service, I was deeply disappointed by the level of communication and organization. During the initial estimate process, there was a significant gap between No. 1 Automotive's estimate and that of Farmers Insurance. I had to become involved in ensuring that the two parties communicated with each other. Throughout the following months, I received no updates and had to constantly call, email, and leave messages to get any information. After five months, I stopped by to check on the status of the orders. I was informed that all parts had been delivered except for two, which were expected to arrive soon. However, after giving them another month, I decided to order the parts and work with a different vendor as No. 1 Automotive showed no interest in making progress. When I informed them that I was considering taking my car to another shop, they finally called me to book an appointment. However, when I called on the ninth day after leaving my car with them, the repair advisor did not know the car was there or that the parts had arrived. My car sat untouched for ten days while I paid for a rental. On the fifteenth day, they informed me that they needed additional parts, but did not know when they would arrive. I called VW and arranged for the parts to be delivered the next day. After four weeks, they finally finished a job that should have taken no more than a week or ten days. Furthermore, there was a discrepancy between their estimate and Farmers Insurance's! And I ended up paying $600 out of pocket for the rental car which they directly caused by not touching the car for 10 days!!!! Throughout this entire process, no one followed up with me or offered any apologies for the poor customer service. Except the general manager on site on May 18th! I strongly advise others to avoid this location to save time and money.

When I got there, Ellie looked at the car and gave me an estimate right away. Pricing I though their pricing is more than reasonable and transparent. As it turned out, nothing was broken (as Ellie had suspected). They had to remove the bumper and re-attach it to make it straight. They did it for a flat fee of $125 plus tax. That was the estimate, and that's exactly what I paid. Scheduling They had an opening the following week. So, I dropped off my car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. I left the car outside their shop, tossed my key in the key drop, and first thing Monday they gave me a call with a time they'd be able to look at the car. Luckily, the problem was a minor one, and they had it fixed and back on the road in a matter of hours - for less than $50! When my daughter, who lives in Bham, was borrowing my car recently and wanted to get it inspected before considering purchasing it, she dropped it off at Flat Black for a thorough look. They called me that afternoon with a detailed list of what needed to be done, and how the car looked overall. They gave it an oil change, serviced the transmission, and a couple of other things - all in a couple of hours. I got the car back from my daughter yesterday and it's running better than it has in months. It's sometimes hard to feel like you're making a good choice when finding someone trustworthy to take care of your vehicle; but I would not hesitate to bring my car to Flat Black again if it needed anything done.
