This…read moretrip is a major, loaded down with expedition; Ram 3500 diesel truck with a camper shell, towing 6000 pounds of boat on a tandem axle trailer - tons of gear and tools inside both, plus me and two dogs. Pure fate and luck that I happened to pull over to inspect an unusual noise/vibration for the second time and I was within eyesight of Martin's shop. Unable to identify the problem, I continued another mile or two down the road, again pulling over because something was just not right. Finally it dawned on me what the trouble most likely was, since I had experienced similar symptoms once before manny years ago. I crawled underneath the truck and verified that the rear axle driveshaft center support bearing (carrier bearing) was absolutely wrecked! The 2 piece driveshaft was slamming around inside a metal hoop that was the frame around the bearing- all internal parts gone. Had I continued driving substantially, eventually the driveshaft would have failed, with result ranging from stranded on the roadside to a catastrophic accident. I need to set the scene a little bit; this location is on the Guide Meridian, a busy thoroughfare that runs from Bellingham, one of Washington's substantial cities outside of the Seattle-Tacoma area. The road goes to British Columbia, and in between is mostly rural farm land, but the road itself is scattered with various businesses and homes. But there's not much around, including choices for automotive services. I pulled a uturn and went to Martin's, just on a hunch that it was meant to be. The owner, RC, crawled under the truck and agreed with my diagnosis. This is 2:00 pm on a Thursday afternoon and the shop closes at 5:00. Within a few minutes, the parts were ordered and delivered to the shop. The owner says there's no way he can get to my vehicle due to other customers ahead of me and have it done in the same business day. But he does tell me that he will come back after hours and begin the job, and most likely the truck will be close to ready when he opens at 8 o'clock the next morning. he gave me significant confidence that I would be able to resume my journey the next day. So there I was with two dogs, all my stuff, and no place to stay. I found a hotel nearby which was suitable and the shop loaned me a car. I end up having everything I needed to be comfortable, including wonderful hospitality from the shop owner, and his wife. My plan was to call the shop at eight in the morning. But as I ate my breakfast in the hotel lobby, I decided to wait a few minutes, so it's not to appear too anxious. I happen to glance at my phone and noticed a message from RC the shop owner Had come in between 730 and eight I just had not noticed it. It indicated my truck was ready and I should come to the shop. When I got there, the truck was all set to go and backed up to my boat trailer ready to be hitched. Overnight I had looked up the likely parts cost and tried to estimate the number of hours of labor required for the job. Let's just say Martin's Automtive charges were fair and more or less what I expected. I was in a circumstance where I could've easily been taken advantage of by less than scrupulous shop. And it could have side-lined me for days instead of hours. I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon Martin's Automotive. My experience there was 5 star-plus. I do not hesitate to recommend this honest auto repair business. Thanks RC!

This joint is legit without a whole lot of fanfare. Low overhead unlike big box stores and does not answer to share holders and workers 401k. It's a family operated business with a personal and courteous approach. There aren't neon signs depicting its locale. Just a place that gets the job done right for a reasonable price. My initial encounter was via Yelp. After endless searches for a quality and inexpensive car remote start, the reviews were off the chart. I called a day after the special ended and still received the deal, even though I was a day late and a dollar short (pun intended). I arrived for my scheduled appointment and without further ado, the process was explained in layman's terms. I was offered several options with the owner's expertise help. In the end, the installation was punctually completed. The owner walked me through the different functions and addressed any concerns. He even upgraded the alarm system with no additional charges. He was detailed oriented and patient. I'm definitely taking my other chariots and recommending my comrades to this shop. There are a lot of dishonest installers north and south of the 49th parallel who will remain anonymous. Conversely, this shop is as good as it gets. Professionalism, service and honesty are hallmark of their workmanship. In essence, I'm sold and so will you. read more

Great service, exelent work and very fair prices, I talked to the owner on the phone and explained what i need, he give me a price, but once there the technician did extra work so the time was one and a half hour instead of the 40 minutes that he told me on the phone, none the less the owner came to me and asked what was price he told me on the phone and that was exactly what he charged me, very honest people, the whole family are so nice and friendly. i will recommend this services to everyone. I am writing to share my experience with No. 1 Automotive during the repair of my VW ID 4 after an…read moreaccident in October 2023. Although I initially chose this location because I believed they cared about their customers and the quality of service, I was deeply disappointed by the level of communication and organization. During the initial estimate process, there was a significant gap between No. 1 Automotive's estimate and that of Farmers Insurance. I had to become involved in ensuring that the two parties communicated with each other. Throughout the following months, I received no updates and had to constantly call, email, and leave messages to get any information. After five months, I stopped by to check on the status of the orders. I was informed that all parts had been delivered except for two, which were expected to arrive soon. However, after giving them another month, I decided to order the parts and work with a different vendor as No. 1 Automotive showed no interest in making progress. When I informed them that I was considering taking my car to another shop, they finally called me to book an appointment. However, when I called on the ninth day after leaving my car with them, the repair advisor did not know the car was there or that the parts had arrived. My car sat untouched for ten days while I paid for a rental. On the fifteenth day, they informed me that they needed additional parts, but did not know when they would arrive. I called VW and arranged for the parts to be delivered the next day. After four weeks, they finally finished a job that should have taken no more than a week or ten days. Furthermore, there was a discrepancy between their estimate and Farmers Insurance's! And I ended up paying $600 out of pocket for the rental car which they directly caused by not touching the car for 10 days!!!! Throughout this entire process, no one followed up with me or offered any apologies for the poor customer service. Except the general manager on site on May 18th! I strongly advise others to avoid this location to save time and money.

I can't say enough good things about Armstrong Family Autocare without sounding like a paid…read morepromoter or something, but believe me, this was an OUTSTANDING car repair experience!! Be honest: how many mechanics have you dealt with who actually aim to reduce the cost of the service?! Alex did!! My old '99 Voyager was acting wonky; it would start but then some components would work while others wouldn't.. one day the windows operated, but the wipers or heater fan wouldn't; the next day NONE of them worked; the next day they all worked fine.. and so on and so on Got a brand new top-of-the-line Napa battery.. didn't help .. so then I had the alternator tested by 3 different places who all said it had a bad diode, so I reached out to a few companies here, got quotes, and Armstrong's was the most reasonable price (plus nearby my place) so I brought the Voyager in, crossing my fingers that some unknown -expensive- additional work wouldn't be urged on me, as I've frequently experienced with other repairs Long story short, Alex told me it actually wasn't the alternator being bad, it was the ignition switch, and I gotta be honest and say I was hugely skeptical because the other companies had advised me to get a new alternator, why would they recommend it if it wasn't the problem? ...but I decided to trust Alex, and the repair cost was literally HALF the cost of replacing the alternator (which was already a very reasonable price!) But this morning was the iron test: would everything work like it did when I picked up my vehicle? IT SURE DID --the wipers, the windows, the heater fan ALL WORKED AT THE SAME TIME!! That hasn't happened in forever! LOL This review is getting long but I wanted to share the deets because frankly, given the symptoms, the tests AND my belief in the test results... Alex could have very easily done the cheaper ignition repair but said nothing and charged for the more expensive alternator replacement that I was asking for -and I wouldn't have known the difference and would've just been happy to have things working- but he was honest and upfront and didn't take advantage of my ignorance.. like other shops around here have done or tried to do to me in the past How awesome is THAT?! So believe me when I say that everyone reading this who might be searching for a mechanic they can trust as much as they'd trust a friend to do the work (if they had the skills) .....look no further This is a good person who does good work! ~~listen to Grandma, now~~
