I brought it to the attention of the staff and the first time the mom was present and did absolutely NOTHING! The second time she whipped her with a plastic snake and we left for the day. She ruins our experience every single week and no one does anything to discipline this child. The co op was supposed to be a fun learning experience for us and it has not been. I dread having to volunteer in the classroom. I thought my daughters safety was a bare minimum. All I asked for was an apology from the little girl so she would know what she did is not acceptable. Now I know why bullying is such a problem today. She didn't even apologize and was allowed back into the classroom. If you want to worry about your child's safety and not hear the teacher over all the disruptions then ShoreNorth is for you! Or if you are raising a bully and want to allow them to have the freedom to do whatever they want, then you found the place for you. I'm extremely disappointed and sad that my daughters safety is not a priority for them. Shame on them for not making a student apologize for physical violence. All they did was make excuses and try to be politically correct.

Why then am I writing this? Because first off, the place is pretty cool-- the school I mean. The toys and overall environment just beckons your kid to explore and play. Clay, painting, dress up, mats to jump on, two story "tree house", a sensory table filled with the shells of chocolate beans, etc... Next, and the main reason that I have taken the time to write this is-- that they refunded my first month's tuition when we pulled out. We had gone 2 or maybe 3 times (1-1.5 wks). So, although they would never advertise such a thing, they are open to you changing your mind and understand that this type of set up is not for every body. Kudos to them.

One of the two teachers was extremely cold the first few months and does not often look happy to be teaching at all...just going through the routine it seems. There is no way to meet other parents because you have to drop your kid off at the door and the teachers grab them and bring them in quickly, sometimes without saying good morning to my child and rarely acknowledging me. I know they're in a rush, but common courtesy would not be hard. There is no hallway outside the class to wait for the children and meet other parents... The email communication is short and there is, overall, little sense of community. My child is learning a good amount in the gymnastics section which is nice, but the academic section is mediocre. They mostly seem to read a scholastic magazine and do those activities as a group, then they do crafts. They have done some interesting crafts once in a while and they have had some good field trips to two plays and some theme lessons, but now they are just doing the alphabet which isn't a challenge or super engaging and there are a lot of worksheets/coloring book type pages. There is no place to wash hands, so they give the kids hand sanitizer before snack, and the snack is a dixie cup of water and a graham cracker or animal crackers. One day they gave the kids only marshmallows for a birthday, and this is after kids jumping around for an hour in gymnastics. Overall I have been very sad with this whole experience and am looking forward to sending my child somewhere else. BEfore this we had only positive experiences in programs/classes with teachers that seem to love little ones and teaching them; I have never written a review on one of these things, but I felt it was my duty to post since I only saw two positive posts when I was looking and was sadly mistaken to send my child here.

Our…read moreexperience has been filled with severe safety oversights, poor academic planning, and a complete lack of teacher accountability. Severe Safety Concerns: The school utilizes its own forest area, but supervision is shockingly poor. My child was lost in it multiple times. In one incredibly negligent incident, a teacher completely walked away from the group without even realizing my child was left behind. Substandard & Unlicensed Staff: We found out that multiple teachers on staff do not even hold proper teaching licenses. The English instruction is highly unprofessional; the teacher struggles with basic verb tenses and passes these grammatical errors and incorrect English habits onto the students. Disorganized Curriculum: The academic planning is entirely backward. The principal pushed the curriculum into multiplication before the students had even mastered basic subtraction. Because of this structural failure, my children were left severely behind in math when they finally transferred to a different school. Lack of Care & Blame Culture: The staff consistently shifts blame onto the children instead of taking responsibility. When the kids complained about being freezing cold outside, teachers dismissed them and blamed them for "not wearing enough layers." In art class, teachers stand by while students' clothes are ruined with paint, later claiming it is the child's fault for not wearing a poncho. I have had to throw away numerous pieces of ruined clothing.

Mandarin immersion school I think of it as going to school, but you go the extra bonus of Mandarin language (with all benefit that come with growing up as bilingual child). One can argue their preference of home based daycare, regular daycare, or school. I personally prefer school (compared to daycare) to have less students turnover, more organized activity (no one come at 9.30, 10am, and 10.30 - which break the focus of the activity), and better curriculum. 2. Reggio Emilia/Project based learning I prefer not to focus too much on academic for kids under 5. There will be time for that later on. I believe that should not be the focus for 3 years old child. Project based learning allow children to play while learn. 3. Outdoor space They do not stay at "sterile" room. The school intentionally allow students to explore and play with nature. Our son (5 years old in non Mandarin speaking household) received a lot of praise from native speaker during our trip to Taiwan that he spoke fluent Mandarin. During our time here, we enjoyed all of his teachers. We are aware of some turnover impacting some other students, but at the end of the day, some of them are out of school's control. We definitely sad that we have to leave IFS family as our son was accepted at Jing Mei. Otherwise, IFS is a strong candidate for our son's continued education.

When COVID hit, they were really fast to react. For three months, they dropped off art supplies and worksheets on our doorstep that the teacher did with the students on zoom. They make every child feel special and really create a family atmosphere. We are planning to go back next year for Pre-K.

My kids specifically asked to keep being enrolled here because they enjoy mastering so many math concepts and being confident at school. My eldest used to struggle with math but she's now ahead of her grade level. My middle kid has more affinity for math and she's now learning 6th grade math at the age of 8 years old. Whether your kid is advanced in math or behind or anywhere in between, there really is tremendous value in having them attend Mathnasium. Big plus about the Snoqualmie center is that they usually have only 2 students per instructor, and the max is 3. Other centers cap it at 4 students which makes it much harder for your child to get enough learning done. Also, Mathnasium does not assign homework which my kids (and I) absolutely love. There are many great spots to get lunch after preschool is over. The staff members are very kind and accommodating. This is a co op preschool, so you're encouraged to attend with your kiddos. You can obviously drop them off, but you are urged to have one day where you stay and help work around the classroom. I have two kids, one who is four months old. I was scared that I wouldn't be able to bring her with me, or I would have to leave my son in the class alone. I was told that I am welcome to bring her along, I just had to make sure she was in a baby carrier. We have been attending for a few weeks now, and so far I've learned a few things about my son. He isn't as shy as I thought he was, he learns new things super quickly and he enjoys making new friends. I am very curious to see how different he will be at the end of the school year. I like how parents are encouraged to help the teacher with all aspects of learning. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're ready to have your kids go to preschool.
