Mrs. Casad, would never let me step foot into her classroom, she would meet me at the door, give me a paper, and send me to the library where the GYM teacher Mr. O'Donnell would give me assistance if I didn't know something. Mr. Brown the history teacher and Mr. Davis the science teacher and football/wrestling coach, were two of the best teachers ever. Neither of them simply let their students fail, unlike many of their colleagues in the district. I want to thank them specifically for good education at MWJH Other than that, class sizes were good. food was good. Discipline was fair. I would enroll my son into this school, and move him out of the district before SKHS.

I highly recommend this school for families looking for a great foundational learning block for their 3-6 yr olds. The only missing pieces I would recommend or suggest is bringing the building up to fire code like public schools have to. Making sure staff have food handlers cards as they prepare all the snacks. For Staff and those interested in staff positions: As a previous staff member the job is posted as part time. Zero benefits, no insurance, paid leave etc. Pay is not great. You will work 7.5 hours four days a week. 5 hours on one day. You will not get any breaks. No lunch break or 15 minute break. You are required to eat lunch with other staff and students. You will get summers off although it's highly encouraged that you help with the summer school. You will also be required to work one weekend a month to clean the school. Casual dress code. Occasional after hours or before hours for different things. Follows local district schedules with regard to holidays and snow days.

After vetting and visiting our top three, there was no question in our minds - The Island School was the unanimous pick of our family! That was two years ago, and we are so happy we made the right choice. My kids favorite school!! A full American Montessori Society member!…read more My son attended Ms. Ali's beautiful school for four years. My daughter now attends, this will be her 3rd and a half year. I was looking for a school that felt like an extension of home. A loving and nurturing environment. I had originally missed the open house date but decided to give Ali a call for a private tour. The moment I stepped inside the classroom I fell in love. I knew right away that I had found our school! I have to say, what a relief. Ali explained to me the Montessori philosophy, admittedly I was not familiar with it. Now I can't imagine teaching my kiddos without this philosophy. First Stage Montessori has created a solid foundation for my children's independence, curiosity, confidence and responsibility. Whether your kiddo attends for 1 year or the entire 4 year program, you become family with the school. I cannot thank Ali and Angel enough for all the dedicated work they've put over the years into growing such thoughtful and amazing young students!
