A local bike store, local people, and best of all people that understand how important your bike is to you (well at least me)! I have taken my bike here several times over the last few years. Everything from bearing issues, flat tire, simple maintenance and new tires required. Every time I have taken it here I have been impressed with how quick they have been and they have always done everything needed. Including the time that "other" bike place had put on a tube that had far to short a stem for my style of tire...they replaced the tube so I could actually fill my tire easily and gave me a great deal on the replacement tube! Now this last drop-off was a 3-week wait, WWWWhat?? I get it, pandemic...everyone and their dog is biking....means long wait time for a guy that bikes all the time. I am out of town for a few days for work so no big deal. When I get home, weather is good...I am going to call and see if I can get my bike and just put it back in the queue when it's my turn. Bad bearings don't mean I can't ride, right!! Friday AM, one week in, I'm getting ready to call and they call me! Bike is ready, under $100 with all the work they did. I am amazed, happy and off for a Friday afternoon ride in the city. Friday afternoon, bike rides perfect. Repairs are all done and it's like i pulled it right off the rack! I was so intimidated to walk into the store. I have not biked in years & had no idea where to start. Austin could not have been nicer or more helpful. 5+ stars for Austin. He took the time to show me a few things & did NOT try to talk me into a super expensive bike that I didn't need considering I am just starting out & really have no idea how much I am going to love biking. Austin shared about the trade in program for when I want to upgrade. He had me get on a couple of different size bikes & explained the difference in things like the height of the seat and knee bend for the best comfort. Maple Grove Cycling has already earned my loyalty & trust. I will definitely be heading back here for all of my future purchases. read more

I've been looking for another bike for some time. I've done a lot of research and have talked w/ Trek Factory directly a number of times. Most bike stores these days seem to tell you, talk down to you, or think they know more about what you want than you. I was very pleasantly surprised w/ this place. Right away I was greeted by Eber who asked how he could help me. He listened to what I had to say and he tried to figure out how he could help. We found the bike that I wanted but it had to be ordered. Most things are backlogged these days w/ the pandemic so most things have to be ordered. Unfortunately I'm currently on a road trip across the country - driving and riding my bike in places. I asked to see how fast they can order the bike but I'll be out of town/area by the time it gets to the store. Eber made a couple of suggestions on how I could go about ordering my bike and the best way for me to get it delivered. Very helpful! Def not your normal experience at most bike shops these days. I wish I could get the bike I want from this store. For now I'll support them by giving them a great review. Maybe I can still just order my bike from them if I run out of options. Bike shops w/ staff like Eber, Jim, and Amy need to be supported and be around for a long time. read more

Bait n switch. Beware of shady mechanics. I was told one price to fix my bike. When I picked it up I was told I owe twice as much because of some work that I didn't approve and was unnecessary for the old bike they were fixing. A manager fixed the situation. But the lies and arguing with the tech ruined the situation. Too bad, I have purchased 3 new bikes from them in the past. I will never go back. read more

Bought 2 bikes there last year, brought them in to be serviced (one of the bikes was not operational, the chain kept falling off) was told they would not service the bikes and told me to bring them back next week... I purchased a $5000.00 Trek bike about two years ago. During first year and a half, their service was excellent. But last month, when I took the bike in for service, I encountered one of their service technicians that needed a major improvement with his customer service skills. (The guy seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about my bike.) But this guy is the reason that next I am not going back to Trek Maple Grove. P.S. The bike has been great! read more

Blake was incredible! I called and was able to get my bikes wheels adjusted to true same day with no appointed after calling in. $20. How great is that? Not only that but he went over the rest of my bike and adjusted breaks, lubed chain, and readjust my shifting mechanism and checked tire pressure. All free. Holy crap never had this good of service before from any store. I asked if I should tip him because of all he did and his response was "No man, I love my job. It was no trouble." Over the last couple years, I've been coming to MG Cycle. The staff is helpful and friendly. They sell Trek, which is a brand I like. They have some awesome and ridiculously expensive bikes, but I can see why. They are meant to perform. My latest visit was to get my tires trued (I had a bent rim). The price was right at $20 per tire, the only thing I didn't like was that the wait was about 5 days. To my surprise they finished the bike up 3 days early! How excellent is that? It's running great. I'm completely new to the world of biking, so it was a huge relief when I came into the shop to buy my first Trek and the folks at MGC actually took the time to explain things to me -- why one bike is different from another, how to fit yourself for a bike, which accessories are "needs" vs. "wants", etc. I learned a lot and really appreciated their level of expertise. On top of it all, they taught me how to load my bike into my car (I don't have a bike rack). Fantastic service all around, and lots of good-quality products to choose from. Went to pick up a tagalong bike for rental about which I had called ahead. Got there at 10 minutes before closing, which the staff member present made sure I was aware of. The way I see it, I called ahead, talked through what I needed, so I felt it was OK to stop by while they were still, wait for it, OPEN for business. Furthermore, the friendly staff member I had spoken to earlier on the phone had the bike all ready for me when I arrived. After going to 3 different bike shops here in the Twin Cities, Maple Grove Cycle got the business. From before the sale, during the sale and after...the sales experience and questions after ...have all been 5 stars! The individuals who work at MG Cycle (a Trek dealer) are all very knowledgeable, are very friendly and willing to help and want to help you find the right bike for you...overall my experience has been nothing short of 5 stars each time I have gone into the store. If you're in the market for a new bike and plan on investing in something other than a bike at Target...it is worth paying them a visit. Not to mention I enjoy biking so much more with a nicer, lighter bike. Had a great experience with this bike shop. We reserved 3 mountain bikes (Trek fuel and two fatties) and picked them up for a sweet ride at Elm Creek, just 10 mins away. Received great advice about the trail system, bike fit, and settings. Rental comes with helmets. The shop went above and beyond to ensure we had a bike rack that fit our small hatchback rental car to transport the bikes. Top customer service with easy going, friendly staff. Drop in!! read more

I am new to biking and i wanted to get a bike that would fit me. This place was great for that! However, i had to order my bike and when i went to pick it up i was given the manual and that was that. I couldn't even reach the pedals. I had to talk them into lowering the seat for me so i could ride the bike. I am so unfamiliar with bikes i dont know how to use the gears. I purchased a bike from here last year and really like the bike. I put in many miles and wanted to get it serviced and tuned up, but when calling to ask when a good time would be to bring it in I was told they will not do the work. At first I thought maybe I just caught someone on a bad day, so called back and got the same reply. Called back a third time and again was told they absolutely will not tune up my bike or do repairs. I don't know if I pissed someone off there, but I thought they were helpful when I purchased the bike. I will not go back to this store or buy my next bike from them. This was my first purchase of a true road bike. I recently got involved cycling with a group at the Gym I workout at. The short story is that I spent $2,800.00 over a 3 day span. Day bought a TREK Emonda and some accessories and the next 2 days more accessories. Worked with 4 different people which included the store owner. Everyone was very nice and polite. After I had the new bike a week I was asked if I had been fitted for this new bike. I did not have a clue what that meant. After finding out what this entailed I contacted the store by phone and yes they recommended I come in be fitted for this bike and it would cost me either $150 or $300 depending on the service I chose. What bothers me the most was that I made it very clear to each person I worked with at the store that I was a new novice rider with no experience or knowledge in this area and not once did anyone offer or make mention about the fitting process. I came away feeling that they were mostly interested in making the sale but had no concern towards my experience with the bike after the sale. I just sold this bike to friend and now I am going to be shopping for a new bike, but at a different store. It's easy to do lip service, but this was not true customer service. I want to spend my $$ at a store that has a true concern about my experience with the products I purchase from them. read more
