How bad does it have to be to write a negative review about a funeral home. Last week, I attended a funeral serviced by this funeral home. This was after a three day snow storm, so the streets had yet to be fully removed of snow. As the funeral ended, I thought it weird that the director did not give any instructions about the procession to the cemetery. I retreated to the restroom briefly before heading to my car. On the way out of the church I was looking for the employee who hands out the funeral stickers for the car. I did not see anyone. I asked a few people and they were looking as well. Continuing to head outside, I see the hurst pull off. Surely, they are just lining up on the Main Street as there were still several people looking for the person with the funeral stickers. Turns out, the procession left!!! Really?! I had to google the cemetery address!! We ended up catching up to the procession just as the made it to the cemetery. We had three additional cars join after us as they had been left as well. Then we get to the cemetery and before the last five or so cars could come to a stop and walk to the burial plot, the interment was finished!! Yes, it was cold. But who does that?! If we came to the cemetery, it was for the interment, not to burn our gas and run stop lights. Of course, I addressed the woman who identified herself as the "director" (unfortunately, I did not ask her name). She was very dismissive and stated curtly, that "once we have the immediate family and ministers, we leave." This was her comment with NO knowledge of who I was or my relation to the family. The family did not have a limo, so accounting for "immediate family" was subjective and insensitive on her part. I am also not sure why they felt it was ok for cars who have to potentially run lights in the procession, not to have the identifying funeral sticker (I counted four cars including mine own). That is dangerous and against the law from my understanding. Don't worry, I will be reporting them to the appropriate licensing, ethics, and/or standards boards. This was completely unacceptable! read more
