Manuel Memorial Funeral Home - The lobby. Very warm and inviting. It's much bigger on the inside than it looks!

Manuel Memorial by far is the best funeral service in northwest Indiana. I come from a very large…read morefamily and have experienced funeral arrangements from just about every provider in the area . They do not compare to the quality, efficient, warm, and professional service that Manuel Memorial provides. From Angie, all the way down to their interns, they are all remarkable. They buried my sister in 2010. There was a discrepancy in the casket that was noticed the night before her funeral. Angie not only corrected the issue, but upgraded my sister's casket. We walked into the church the next morning and we shed tears not just because of our loss, but because of how beautifully she was prepared. She looked like the Princess that she was! Angie followed up with us weeks afterwards, to make sure we didn't need help with thank you cards! Since then, they have buried two of my uncles, a few family friends, and members of our church, all from our referrals. We even stop by just to say hello to them when we are in the area. Their staff is truly a family. I feel so indebted to them for going above and beyond their duty at such a pressing and dire time of our lives. I highly recommend them!

I must first state that Yelp.com remains the best and most reliable place where the customer or…read moreclient can post their review both positive or negative. Both Facebook and Google reviews are geared towards protecting the business at the expense of legitimate complaints by hiding them in a sugar coated sea of fluff or removing them when you don't expect it, without notification. Recently, I attended a wake at Solan-Pruzin Funeral as I entered for the very first time, I was taken back how light and airy it was inside, so warm and inviting. Imagine that, a funeral home being inviting? Well, the staff on duty was very professional and quite friendly and willing to engage me in a conversation. When I entered the chapel area where the family was receiving guests, I was immediately drawn to the flowers. They were that beautiful and exquisitely done I thought for a minute I did them myself, down to the long flowing ribbons that added such grace and elegance. The family flowers, the end baskets and casket spray were just that stunning. You see, I've been a florist and owned my own shop in downtown Chicago for over 35 years, so I've been around. It's quite rare to see such fabulous design work in Northwest Indiana, at least so far. Most funeral homes know little or nothing about floral design but think they do. Wisely, Solan-Pruzin has identified an extraordinary talented florist with an exceptional eye that certainly will help to enhance this spacious and tastefully appointed funeral home as to set themselves apart from the competition. All this time, some of us may have thought the most prestigious funeral home was in Munster, Indiana. Think again! The best funeral home is Solan-Pruzin in Schererville, Indiana. If you're planning on checking out anytime soon, go with the very best! I highly recommend Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home!

The rooms are deep and spacious so they can fit a lot of visitors inside. The location is great being just off Kennedy Avenue in Schererville, and the parking lot is nice and large so finding a spot is easy as pie. All in all this funeral home seems like an excellent place to utilize when you are in need of their services.

My family would go to our vehicles to eat or drink something. They would watch us from the windows to see what we were doing. Twenty minutes before the end of our service they told us to get all the flower arrangements out of the building. Staff is odd and totally unprofessional. Bathroom was trashed looked like a truck stop bathroom. Staff didn't follow directions and the director of the funeral home was clueless and snarky. Please do your loved ones and yourselves a favor and go elsewhere. You will be happier and this place shouldn't even be in business.

But seriously this place has come to seem like a second home over the last few years as cancer has claimed several members of my family. It's weird, I didnt think you could get comfortable in a place thats entire being is based off of death and passing, but in and over the last 6 years i guess i proved my self wrong. Unfortunately it seems we loose a family member a year to cancer *at least for the last 5 years* and each member has ended up at Kuiper. Though obviously sad while your there, the staff goes above and beyond to make you as comfortable as humanly possible while you are there mourning your loss. Plenty of room with comfy chairs. Excellent "lounge" area including the coolest coffee maker i possibly have ever seen. I am not sure if its some type of law in Indiana or its just something Kuipers has worked out with the Local PD *i have never seen this at any other funeral i have been to in IL or IN* But we had a police escort from the funeral home to the cemetery, including blocking off the intersections. It was very nice of them. With the loss of my grandma last week, the staff at Kuipers made her passing a little easier, and I am positive we will use their service again in the future
