Touch Manta Rays
Jay P.

Touch Manta Rays. They feel like soft wet velvet, and glide gently in the water like a fabric. Review is during Covid when the fun rollercoaster is shut down but you can touch the Manta Rays. Staff is A+, they will direct you to a station that is open, each separated by clear partitions fo Covid safety and they are informative and interesting even though they are repeating the same thing over and over. These are not stingrays and are harmless. Being filter feeders, their standard diet consists of crustaceans, plankton and small fish. The tail is non-functional and unlike the one that pierced Steve Irwin's heart.

So I was really looking forward to this coaster for many years and after once riding it I was hit with a great disappointment as it really didn't live up to what I expected. This ride is a Mack Double Launch Coaster and from what I've heard from others is that it's one of the best wile I highly disagree with this at the same time I can see why others might enjoy it mostly because of its tame speed and quick turns wile this coaster might not be for me I certainly can't knock it all the way down to nothing as it had a few okay elements to it. The beginning started in a dome type area with a Christmas theme to it as my visit took place in December to be totally honest I thought this was super cheesy and all around boring and from what I was told by others in my group the original theme is much better! The coaster took off with a quick launch and a few sharp twists and inversions to go with the launches were basically all this coaster threw at you this is one of the few coasters in the park wile I didn't super enjoy it I'm sure others do because of it's mellow kinda layout. One thing I do wanna say though is the ride ops were really bad at dealing with line jumpers as they kinda just let them do it which was super not cool I know at other parks that will get you kicked out of the park! Overall mediocre but I'll give it another ride whenever that is that I make it back to Seaworld SD!

Probably the best "classic" rollercoaster at SeaWorld, offering high-speed thrills, twists and turns, without any gravity-defying loops, drops or twists. If you're not into the more extreme rides (such as the Electric Eel), this is the sort of experience you're looking for. Manta has everything going for it: lengthy enough to justify the wait in line, not too bumpy, as fast as hell!

We were waiting in line for about 10 minutes when the ride broke down and everyone was told to leave the line. I know things break down so I'm not giving a 1-Star review. When this happens they should issue everyone in line a one-use VIP pass because now we have to wait in line all over again and potentially longer the next time. To top things off, you can't carry a bag on this ride so we had to rent a locker to store our bag which amounted to $3.00 for 2 hours. No big loss, I'm not claiming a refund, it's just an inconvenience and waste of time that is more important.

Halloween version.. so fun at night

Fast and full of surprises. My first ride was at night during their Halloween themed rides. For Halloween, the Manta was a "Lights off" ride which made this experience even more intense being in complete darkness. San Diego Manta is gelded compared to Sea World's Orlando version. It didn't seem to matter tho, it was quick and fun, albeit pretty short. - Keep your head back ( against the sticky headrest) because there's a lot of aggressive back and forth. - Worth the wait, keep in mind that the line length changes throughout the day. Try going while a large show is going on in this part of the park. - Ride closes an hour before park closes.

WOW really fun roller coaster. we went on this one about a dozen times. the lines were short ( off season ) so we just kept going on it. maybe our best ride we liked there. its deceptively fast, and has some 0 gravity drops and turns. really cool. even if the line is long, you gotta hit this one. so much fun, even my 7 year old girl liked it.

Let me begin by stating that I cannot handle extreme roller coasters too often. I push my limits on coasters once every 10 years so that I have enough time to forget about the twists and turns that my stomach goes through. I'm used to riding Space Mountain and feeling comfortable about the ride. However, I have found the perfect coaster for someone that is in between easy coasters without any drops and those that are a bit more intense. Manta is truly my favorite roller coaster because it's so much fun to ride. In a way, it reminds me of the launch on California Screaming at Disney's California Adventure. It blasts you off at a high rate of speed. I love how the anticipation builds at the beginning of the ride when you are in a tunnel and the music becomes more intense while manta rays are projected onto the walls of the tunnel. Then, once you are pulled further back and the doors open, you just take off for a fun ride. I cannot handle drops on roller coasters but this one is about 54 feet and you do feel it but it's not that bad. In fact, I rode this thing 6 times in a row because I arrived at the park right when it opened. The line was relatively short for the first 2 hours or so. I wish the duration of the ride on Manta was longer but it's still a lot of fun! I actually stopped riding Manta so that I could enjoy some of the shows that Sea World has to offer. I have seen footage of Manta in Orlando and that ride would probably destroy me. Ha! I'm working up to riding extreme coasters again but for now, I'll enjoy Manta in San Diego and maybe, just maybe I'll ride Manta in Orlando when I finally plan my trip to Disney World.

Good ride. Smooth and pretty fast.

I'm no roller coaster nut, but this is a pretty great ride. The lines can be a bit long, but they do move you through efficiently. It starts out a little cheesy with the multimedia stuff (similar to the Atlantis ride), but after that, it's all coaster. The double-launch is interesting and gets you back up to speed about halfway through the ride; you really whip around the turns. Pack your stuff (anything that doesn't fit into your pocket) into the provided lockers prior to getting into the main line -- lockers at the gift shop are free for the first hour, but that's a whole different line. If you've got someone in your party that doesn't like roller coasters or is waiting with the shorter children, have them hold your stuff.

Manta is such a great ride at seaworld. Probably the second biggest after Atlantis. This roller coaster grabs you by your stomach throughout the whole ride you'll find your self scared and then laughing at the same time. The ride was over and I wanted to go on again. Manta was a great investment

I went in the giant dipper for the first time today!…read more The dark tunnel spooked me cuz I didn't know what was coming lol! I loved the first drop it was really smooth it was only the last few drops that was really shaky! Honestly I had to hover above my seat so I wouldn't be tossed on my friend lol! I scrambled off, and went another 3 times! I really recommend to ride it IF you don't have back problems because I got sore after riding it 4 times

He shouted out the total for two wristbands and I let him know there was a different price online. He shouted out to purchase the wristbands online for that price. I walked away purchased the wristbands went back to pick up the physical wristbands. He scanned the barcode and put the wristbands on our wrist. And then with a smile said the list of rides that were closed. And then said " we are short staffed and due to that we do not have employees at the rides once they get here at 12:30 then you'll be able to get on the rides" I looked at my 10-year-old and said OK we'll go walk the beach and get a bite to eat until they open up. Guess what the staff never got there! Honestly, he thought it was funny when he told me that we weren't going to be able to get on rides until the other staff got there. There were a few rides like the mini dipper and the carousel. But who buys wristbands to get on a couple rides and then get on the bumper cart. If that's the case then I would've just bought individual tickets. LET YOUR GUEST KNOW AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU ARE SHORT STAFFED AND THE PARK WILL NOT BE RUNNING AS USUAL!! I had to keep looking for staff to let us on rides and then even then I wasn't able to get on every ride. I paid for a wrist band for myself and my daughter thinking that we were going to be able to enjoy the day but we were not. I do want to point out that I'm a single mom and low income and this was supposed to be something amazing for us. $100 to Belmont Park is absolutely nothing but for me it is. And just FYI, I a lot of people kept leaving the park upset. But for them, they didn't purchase wristbands. We waited till after 5 PM hoping that as the shift changed employees would come and open up all of the rides, but that never happened. I was hoping to get my money back for the wristband, but because the employee at the counter was so aggressive I was honestly afraid to go up and ask for a refund. I'm hoping Belmont Park will make this right and provide my daughter and I with an opportunity to return to Belmont Park at no charge to us and be able to get on the rides.

He's been dead, but his memory is still alive here. New orcas, dolphins, sea otters etc. existed. My friend and I came here since his father owns a timeshare 5 minutes away from Seaworld and we both had vacation time. We were at the Marriott hotel in downtown San Diego where the parking structure was on the top floor, unusual for sure, but necessary in order to park there due to the poor surrounding environment. A lot of places nearby including the boat museum maritime. Seaworld, changed! In the most interesting and good way possible. New rides, more things to do. Last time I went to Seaworld there were only shows involving orcas swimming in a pool of water splashing guests as the highlight, it still is there as usual, which I loved by the way and was enjoyable to witness. Rides: 1. Emperor - 5/5 amazing 90 degree drop dive coaster, with ejector air time and intense g forces, my favorite ride due to having a fresh breeze of the ocean air at the top and a beautiful view of the park. 2. Electric Eel - 5/5 bizarre coaster with a launch and a positive g roll at the top. Not that intense unfortunately, fun and intimidating, but enjoyable to go on with a friend. I enjoyed it. 3. Atlantis - 5/5 intense hybrid water ride and coaster. Two drops, the water drop was meh, but the coaster drop after was taller and more intense g forces on the drop and swivel loop below. My personal favorite tier with emperor 4. Manta - 5/5 most intense coaster there, super fun, launch coaster with strong g forces throughout. Shockingly the most intense ride at the park with the intense factor of the launches and ejector air time and speed. 5. Arctic Rescue - 5/5 super cool ice ride, it's near the penguins in the back and has a bike you sit on that has great launches and strong positive g forces on the launch, not as good as manta, but super fun, went on it more than once and enjoyed it the most. Theming of the ocean from the start before the launch was cool. 6. Skytower/skyride - admission fee rides, very relaxing, $6 per person, the skyride was fun, you sit in a carriage and observe the scenery of the ocean with a slight breeze. The skytower is a tall swiveling cylindrical seated container that overlooks sea world. 7. Closed attractions - dolphin show was closed, looks promising but was not open during spring for whatever reason, roaring rapids ride was closed in spring reopens in summer, the sea otter show closed due to renovation. Food was very nice, I enjoyed it, I got a vegetarian salad wrap at the cafeteria near the orca show. They had pretzels, fried foods, pizza and sandwiches, burgers that looked and smelled good. I saw some people with turkey leg and they had other foods at the food court. My friend liked touching the small fishies that eat dead skin near the entrance. Place is good for older kids and young adults who have children. Not as family friendly as Disneyland and Legoland due to the intensity of the attractions, especially that emperor and manta. Those two rides are more intense than any of the rides at Disneyland, better off comparing those to magic mountain and knotts berry farm level of intense. Outside of the top 2 mentioned (manta and emperor) the other three were relatively good rides with strong intensity (electric eel, Atlantis and arctic rescue) that Atlantis ride was closed for like 6 hours which was annoying and the wait time was long too maybe 2 hours, so rode that ride last just before going home. We were there right when it opened and left before the place closed. I bought a dolphin souvenir t shirt at the shop and I love it. Overall a solid 5/5 for entertainment, ambiance and overall experience. It had great themes and a beautiful environment similar to universal studios but sea based. The orca show was nice, cute host for the show and the little kids sea lion show was relatively meh. I would come back again. I enjoyed it but it is so far Southern California. Unless you live in San Diego, this place is a treat.
