I am writing to express my concerns and disappointment regarding my recent experience with Painted…read moreBayou. Unfortunately, my experience has not been satisfactory, and I believe it warrants this review. We had been patiently waiting for over two months for a piece to be bisque fired at this business. Throughout this period, I made numerous calls, only to be informed each time that the piece was still sitting on the shelf with no anticipated firing date communicated. Weeks later, I was told that the piece was ready for pick-up, but no one from Painted Bayou had bothered to called to inform us. Upon arriving to pick up the piece, an employee committed that it would look beautiful glazed and fired, I agreed and I explained my daughter had made the piece but went away to college before finishing. The employee assured me that my daughter could come into Painted Bayou, glaze paint it and have it fired. Excited, I agreed and pre-paid for the service. My daughter came in for Christmas, and I surprised her with the news. She went in painted the piece and left it with Painted Bayou to be glaze fired. Since then, there had been no communication regarding the status of the piece. On February 5th, 2026, I called to check on the piece and was informed that they didn't know exactly where it was but would locate it and fire it, again, asking me to check back with them. Today, when I called back as instructed, I learned that the piece still hadn't been fired. I requested that a manager call me, and I received a text from the owner "Simone" informing me that the piece would not be glaze-fired because we had only discussed and paid for a bisque fire. I explained to the owner the bisque fire had been performed by her company and that we were now waiting on a glaze firing. Simone clearly had no idea as to what was happening. She then mentions that she wouldn't fire the piece because she didn't know where the clay came from. While I understand there are concerns in this the process. it puzzles me as to why this was not communicated to me back in December or on February 5th. As I attempted to explain my frustrations to Simone over a call, she immediately began interrupting me. I politely asked her to allow me to finish, and i would extend her the same courtesy. She did listen but responded with "I don't tolerate bullies," and clarified that I was a bully because I ask her to allow me to speak first. I am assuming this was an attempt to change the whole dynamic of the actual call. Being called a bully while expressing my frustrations as her customer has left me shaking my head in disbelief. I'm not certain what "gaslighting" or 'woke" really is, but I feel i may have experienced both. It was apparent they weren't going to finish the piece. I mentioned that I had already pre-paid for the firing and very frustrated I said that she could keep the monies as a parting gift. I just really wanted to come pick up the piece before something happen to it. Her response was, "I don't need your money; it has bad energy." How about bad business practices? After she hung up on me there were other texts sent back and forth between us. The one that shocked me read, "I'm not engaging with you anymore. I will be happy to fire the piece tonight and if it melts so be it." Why would it melt, you're the professionals right? Was that meant to be some sort of a threat? I found the overall experience to be bad business, filled with arrogance, and a lack of responsibility or professionalism. It is quite unbelievable that this place is still in business with such poor customer service practices.

Its a spicy stew that derives its influences from a variety of cultures, including the French and the Choctaw Indians. It involves combining a mixture of meats and vegetables in a thick soup. When served with rice, this makes a hearty and affordable meal that can feed many people. I had the luck to try another kind of Gumbo - audio gumbo, in the form the jubilant sounds of Gumbo Entertainment. At two different functions I attended recently, the music provided was handled exclusively by Gumbo. The harmonies selected were a nouveau hybrid of old school soul, current pop music, and a few tried-and-true classics. Gladys Knight may have made a cameo, too. At both events (one party, one wedding), the dance floor was filled with lively souls, slow dancing to melodic ballads, or gyrating to faster rhythms. Even those sitting at tables couldn't help but tap their feet to the strains of the music. Like a traditional gumbo, these DJs take various compositions and make a phonic feast for the spirit. They also provide Emcee services as well. If you are in need of good music for an event, I would highly suggest having Gumbo satiate the tastes of your guests.

But when we had our first meeting with Corey, he REALLY put our minds at ease. It really wasn't as complicated as I thought! He just asked us what kind of music we were into and told us that we could send him a list of songs that we do want to have played, and he would take care of the rest. On the day of the wedding, we were VERY happy with the selection. The only thing I wasn't THAT happy with was that he played "Love and Marriage" from Married with Children when we first down at reception. I like the show a lot but it just threw me off guard. So not only is Corey awesome at DJing, but he also did a great job helping out our photographers in coordinating pictures. He would be on the mic telling people to get together in one section, for example. And he did a great job announcing when the different events started, etc. Overall, we loved Corey and he has such great energy and always puts a smile on your face.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was incredibly disappointing…read more I completely understand that substitutions are sometimes necessary in the floral industry. My issue isn't that a few flowers were replaced, it's that the arrangement delivered looked nothing like the one I ordered. The advertised arrangement had a soft, airy, garden-style design with a very specific color palette and composition. The arrangement that was delivered was completely different. It was dominated by large sunflowers, burgundy chrysanthemums, pink stock, and green hydrangeas, flowers that dramatically changed the entire look and feel. If I had wanted that style of arrangement, I would have ordered it. When you purchase flowers, you're paying for the florist's design and artistry, not simply a vase filled with flowers of comparable value. Similar dollar value does not mean it's the same product. What disappointed me even more was the complete lack of customer service. I called multiple times trying to speak with someone about the issue. My calls went unanswered and went straight to voicemail, and despite being told someone would follow up, no one ever did. Instead, I eventually received a vague text message saying that if certain flowers aren't available, they do their best to substitute them. That completely missed the point. The issue was never that substitutions were made, it was that the substitutions resulted in an arrangement that bore little resemblance to what was advertised. There was no attempt to acknowledge that concern or offer any meaningful resolution. My friend, being the kind and gracious person she is, thanked me and told me the flowers were beautiful. Of course she did - she appreciated the gesture behind them. But that doesn't change the fact that what I paid for and what was delivered were two very different products. I'll be posting side-by-side photos of the arrangement I ordered and the one that was delivered so others can decide for themselves. Do these arrangements honestly look alike? Do you believe the delivered arrangement reflects the premium product that was advertised? Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this florist. Between the completely different design, the lack of communication, and the unwillingness to make things right, this was not the level of service I expected from a professional florist.
