I traversed inside to place my order as there didn't seem to be service at that time. The waitress seemed off and kept making me wait while she asked the bar crowd who else wanted a drink. I waited and waited. Finally she took my order. I asked for the nachos and a draught beer. She seemed surprised I ordered food. She kept telling me I needed to order chicken or steak. I indicated that I didn't need those add one and was good with the refried beans listed on the menu. I told her I was sitting on the corner outside. That corner is where I sat, for more than half an hour, gasping for air. I was entertained by the music and some people dancing to the tunes. I really wanted my beer which never came. Finally my nachos arrived. They had a nice presentation but no beans. They were dropped at the table as she sped away. I tried to ask for my beer but she never hesitated long enough nor emerged to check on me. My nachos was more of chips and cheese with a lettuce salad on top. I was thankful for the jalepeno slices and made the best of it. After an hour I went inside to pay. The waitress ignored me again. When I finally got the bill it included the illusion beer that was never served. When I questioned it the waitress got frustrated and handed my ticket to an apologetic younger guy. I don't think wild horses could drag me back to this bar. Maybe if some friends were only willing to come hear the music but not venture inside... it's pretty sad as the music was great!

Service was... okay. A bit on the "too relaxed" side, which almost came across as unfriendly. To be fair, I was already in a mood from something personal before I walked in, so maybe that energy carried over, but still worth noting. Food-wise, it was decent--nothing mind-blowing, but good enough that I'd definitely come back when in the area. The loco moco burger was basically an ordinary burger, though the gravy added an interesting twist. Not sure I'd reorder it. I really enjoyed the French toast--the grilled pineapple on top was disappointingly dry, but the syrup helped and overall I'd get that again. The millionaire bacon sounded much more exciting on the menu than it tasted--pretty basic in execution. What I do love is how creative their menu reads; it makes you want to try everything. That's why I feel like I need to come back and sample more dishes to really get the full experience. Cute spot, decent food, and definitely worth a return visit to explore more of their offerings.

I had an espresso and coffee afogato while I waited for their wonderfully delicious blueberry-beet salad. I can't express it's deliciousness. PORT 27 - A Waterfront Night Worth Pulling In For…read more.. Friday night in Florida... and instead of fighting I-4 traffic to Orlando or Tampa, I decided to pull into Port 27 and see what the buzz was about. Parking was full, always a good sign, but somehow I found a spot right as I pulled in. That already felt like the night was off to a good start... As soon as I stepped out of the car, I noticed the lighthouse glowing under a spotlight. At night, it completely transforms the space. It gives off this cool nautical, almost Nantucket-style coastal vibe the kind that makes you forget you're still in Polk County. Walking in, you're greeted by the soft glow of overhead lights and a courtyard that feels alive but relaxed. On the left are food trucks designed like train cars. Such a cool touch. There's a crêpe truck, a seafood truck, and a taco truck, all adding to the variety. They also have a burger spot and a pizza shop, so no one leaves hungry. Families were enjoying the play area in the center, letting the little ones burn off energy while adults relaxed. There's even a swing near the brewery that makes for a great picture spot. Speaking of the brewery... I didn't grab a beer this time, but that's definitely happening on my next visit. There was a DJ playing near the lake, music floating across the water. The bar sits right on the waterfront, and with the moon in a soft waxing crescent phase, just a slim "baby" crescent in the sky it made the whole scene feel cinematic. The green glow of the dock lights reflecting off the water on a Florida night? Amazing. I stopped into the coffee shop and enjoyed a cup of coffee and some Dubai chocolate squares that were absolutely worth trying (and re-trying). What I really appreciated is that Port 27 gives Polk County residents a true waterfront night-out experience without the drive to Orlando or Tampa. No I-4 commute is definitely a plus. I get the allure now. It's relaxed, scenic, family-friendly, and still great for a date night or meeting friends. The lighthouse is the perfect finishing touch it pulls the whole vibe together. I'll definitely be back to explore more.
