One of my favorite things, is stumbling upon hidden gems like this place. I first learned about…read morethis place from my partner. If you're looking for an old school deli style meat market, this is your place. Candy Vivanco is an experienced butcher that really knows his meat, the cuts, and makes recommendations according to your individual needs. My partner got ranchera style steak, as well as rib eye which he asked to be cut thinly fajita style. I enjoy cooking, and I enjoy when the ingredients speak for themselves. With the ranchera style steak I sautéed it with onion, garlic, bell peppers, and mushrooms and made a quick dinner by adding the mixture into a quesadilla. The ribeye I basted with a little browned butter and rosemary. I accompanied the steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both dinners were prepared quickly and I didn't have to do much. Dinner was on the table in less than 30 minutes and I attribute that to the quality of meat.

Mr. Meats in Gardena has been a solid spot whenever I've stopped in. This time, I picked up 2…read morepounds of their prime ribeye and 2 pounds of their marinated carne asada. They also included a complimentary tub of homemade guacamole, which was a thoughtful touch and definitely appreciated. Overall, the meat quality is pretty good, and the prices feel fair for what you're getting. I left happy with the purchase, and I can definitely see myself coming back for more. The service is another reason I'd return. Every time I've come in, the team has been welcoming, helpful, and supportive. That consistency makes it easy to feel comfortable shopping here, and the complimentary guac was a nice bonus on top of an already positive experience. If you're in the Gardena area and looking for a local spot to pick up meat, Mr. Meats is worth checking out. Fair prices, good quality, and a team that makes you feel welcome.

Walking in, I browsed their cuts and looked at the signs. I…read morenoticed their carne azada near the register was not labeled. I asked the man over the counter what cuts he had. He said "Pues pide" which means well order. So I wondered if they had diesmillo on the bone since I saw diesmillo and I like it on the bone. He responded, "no we don't do that". So I pointed at the carne and asked what cut it was. He told me it was ranchera (there is no sign) so I asked if it was prime and he said yes. I ordered meat then asked for a couple of pounds of their advertised chicken. He mentioned there were two types, I took both and some diesmillo. The flavor is good , but the service, the way he spoke to me felt rude. Just for that I wouldn't bother to make the 20 minute drive again. This is my second time there and it seems I can't look at the meat, I'm expected to know what they have, know what I want and order. But, as they rudely tell me to order and "I'll see", they didn't even have what I wanted. What am I doing wrong? I politely said, "buenos dias" and ordered in Spanish. No one was in line after me, I don't understand the rudeness. This place is a NO for me. They are not the only carnicería. One star on customer service.

It's Sunday means BBQ at our house, and stop at Mr. Meats. The quality of their meat is…read moreconsistently excellent, and their prepared carne asada, pollo asado, and costillas are the reason we keep coming back. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and ready for the grill, which makes entertaining family and friends so much easier. This weekend we had family visiting from out of state, and one thing they always say they miss is the authentic Mexican flavors. As soon as the meat hit the grill, everyone gathered around. The aroma alone had people asking when dinner would be ready, and after the first bite, there wasn't much talking just people going back for seconds. What really stands out about Mr. Meats is the consistency. Every visit, the prepared meats are fresh, high quality, and cook up tender and juicy with incredible flavor. You can tell they care about what they're selling, and it shows in the final product. Whether you're planning a family BBQ, a birthday, or just a relaxing Sunday cookout, Mr. Meats is a place I can confidently recommend.

Everything is always top quality and the customer service is by far some of the best I have had at a butcher. Their recommendation are always on point and they even will provide you ice packs on request for your freezer bag if you are going to be doing some shopping or have a decent drive back home. I love that they are well knowledgeable about all the products and take the time if you ask to explain the differences in the meats and how they should be cooked for the best experience. If you are ever by the grove or farmers market ask for Brandon (likes to go by B) or Byron they are always willing to help and make sure you are more than satisfied with your purchase. The great thing about them is that they are father (Byron) and son (Brandon) which means they are passing down the skill set and knowledge regarding butchery and meats. If you are in the area or have the means to travel I definitely recommend supporting this establishment at least for your ultra premium, exotic, or seasonal meats.

It's hard find a good butcher. Some are cuisine specific (kosher? halal?), small neighborhood shop or a big butcher like Huntington Meats. Superb quality of items (beef, poultry, oxtails, lamb, pork, etc.) Knowledgeable and friendly staff. It seems like the shop had always been around. Like meatloaf? Hate making meatloaf? Buy a pound or three of raw house-made meatloaf ready to take home and bake! Thinking about grilling some great burgers. They offer Nancy Silverton's special mix of beefs for perfectly juicy burgers (available in 1/4 pound and 1/3 pound raw patties.)

One time, my friend had a bbq on his rooftop and started cooking up some New York strips and…read moreribeyes. When I ate them, I was like what is this??? This is SOOOO good. Then I had to pry and figure out where he bought them. The first time I looked for the stand, I couldn't find it and gave up. The second time, I figured it out and it's to the right of the second fruit and veggie stand when you walk in (which has really good produce actually). I've bought maybe half of their stuff here. My favorites are as follows: The prime bone in ribeye is the best thing they have here. It's better than A LOT of restaurants. The cow is from California and it's all that special stuff that you want in a quality piece of meat. Next is the veal chop. Then it's the Niman ranch pork chop. After that it's the breakfast sausages, then it's the bacon. The taste on these items are absolutely insane. I think it's one of the things that got me back into cooking, because you can buy a quality restaurant tier pork chop for $12.99 a pound, and you don't have to go drop over $50 (maybe even $60 or $70 now from inflation) for the same type of pork chop at a restaurant. For the non Japanese Wagyu cuts, I personally don't like the flavor as much. But that's a personal preference. Some people love non Japanese Wagyu over prime but I don't. Anyway here's some pictures of the meat. Oh yeah the service is really good and the ambiance is nice because you're at the farmer's market! You can also ask a bunch of questions and they're all pretty much meat experts here.
