We went into Manning Music to get information on a trumpet. The salesman Michael was very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive

I needed tube amp repaired and Kansas Guitar highly recommended I take my amp to Ryan Verthein an…read moreamp technician that they said is their tech guy! I gave a hundred down just so he would trust me to work on my amp he didn't ask for it I wanted to do good business, it was blowing a fuse when secondary was plugged in but stayed on with tubes lit as long as secondary was unplugged so the problem was isolated! I get amp back of 3 weeks an now the power tubes won't light an a couple of preamp tubes won't light! An he is putting his gages to everything a says the circuit passes continuity and voltage, everything reads out right including the ground but tubes just won't light!? For 1 that makes no sense at all if everything thing reads out properly then it would work! So he kept the $100 dollars and damaged my amp in multiple areas on separate boards! He was saying I'll need to replace the power tube board and preamp board! He took out low amp slow burners and placed in higher rating fuses in their place, that's a no no! You can go lower but not higher! Probably fried components! Like why did you refer me to this guy I trusted you when you advised me and referred me to him! Like he was playing games with my amp, if your recommended by a guitar store then you know everything must not read out right or it would work! That's very simple to understand! Now an easy fix has become a costly mistake and still have to pay to have much more repaired now! In conclusion don't recommend Ryan Verthein to other artists for amp repairs! An I will also not be doing business with Kansas Guitar because the trust is broken, I thought better of this guitar shop!

Went there on the recommendation of local pawn shop. Rick was super friendly, accommodating, and…read moreknowledgeable. He had a nice selection of lower-end guitars, which is what I was looking for, and good prices, too. I walked out with a guitar that makes me very happy. Rick was one of the selling points.

Chris used low prices to attract innocent customers. Prices too good to be true? Absolutely! Looks…read morelike a duck; talks like a duck; but is a wolf that has cheated many people out of thousands of dollars, and even worse, their beloved pianos. After reading other reviews, my story is very consistent with these other victims of Chris Wrisner. I'm happy to a certain degree that a couple of people actually got their pianos returned to them. I've spoken with a few over the phone who weren't so lucky. Chris seemed to know what he was talking about, but I later found out from a former employee of his that he learned about tuning and fixing pianos while in prison! He took my beloved grand piano and then didn't hear from him in two months. Unanswered calls, no reply to emails...you see where this is going. We finally made a trip to his shop, which was always closed. We were lucky enough to peek through a side door and saw him and his workers in the shop, and walked in. I saw my piano which was in the back of the shop, opened up with a few parts missing. Chris started a song and dance, saying that he was in the process of calling us to give us a progress report, which was not true; he was just caught red-handed. We demanded that he put the piano back together and send it back to my home, and do it immediately while we waited there. That same day, we followed the moving truck back to MHK from Topeka. I'm so glad that we were adamant about moving it back that day. What I found out later from a former employee of his, because of the rareness and size of my grand piano, Chris never intended to fix it and was in the process of chopping it up and selling parts to other builders. Once I heard about this, I started taking apart my piano and noticed incredibly poor work on the action, hammers, and dampers. My original dampers were swapped out from a Story and Clark, which meant my original dampers where sold. I also noticed that he took out a structural cross bar from the harp, which a new one is $800. Chris is on the run, and I've been told by law enforcement that he has a warrant out in the State of Kansas. I've tracked him down in Florida, and noticed that a few more victims there with similar stories. I hope he gets caught and put back in jail so he doesn't cause more damage to people, and their beloved pianos. He started a new company to hide his scams from Kansas, and reviews are located here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/american-piano-movers-winter-park?osq=piano+tuning.

He took the piano's action (the hammers and keys and other moving parts) to his shop to fix it and resurface the broken keys. He said it would be two weeks. We called after three and were promised another two weeks. I could go into a long, convoluted story about the many attempts to call them, the unanswered calls, having to use other phones to get them to take the calls, actually visiting their shop, which is rarely open, and dozens of excuses, but I would prefer to not re-visit the three-month nightmare in detail. We were fortunate in that Chris finally delivered the work after several months and four or five no-show appointments. It was a lot of work, stress and heartache, and the final product was not good. He promised to call to schedule a follow-up, but we have never heard from him. We would not have let him in our home again, anyway. I would never recommend this business to anyone. Ever. I only hope you have the chance to read this review before he comes to your house and take your property away with him.
