Dr Kroop is very nice. It is hard to get in as it is just her. My sister had taken her cat there…read moreand I had taken her there until she passed this year. I know for emergencies you are not going to get a Vet around here after hours. You won't an where. You have to go to Allentown 's 24 hr Pet Centers and expect at least a $1000 dollar bill. I think Wilkes Barre has an Urgent Care Pet Hospital as well. If you love your pet enough then you will spend the money. This is also why I always have a back up Vet in case I can't get my pet into one Vet I have another Vet they can go to. It is not different than people.

I…read morecontemplated for a few days about writing this....We normally take our fur babies to COMPANION ANIMAL HOSPITAL ...Wednesday afternoon, when our little old lady Boston Terrier, went into seizures, and possibly a stroke, she couldn't move her legs and was having extreme difficulty breathing...We immediately phoned the COMPANION, where she has been receiving treatment for heart problems and such, so they were aware of her condition, and asked to speak to a doctor or if we could bring her over immediately.... The woman on the phone said she would speak to the doctor...she came back on the line and we were told the doctor would not come to the phone and we should take our dog to an emergency animal hospital....I asked the woman if it this was because they were closed...and the response was...."No, we're booked"...I explained again the circumstances and stated I didn't feel our dog was going to make it....again...she stated there was nothing they could do.....This however is what they post on their WEB PAGE.... Emergency & Urgent Care We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 5 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Emergencies can be things such a poisoning, hit by car, LENGTHY SEIZURES, etc. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency........ Obviously, in our particular case, they must have forgot what they advertise....Remember, THEY WERE STILL OPEN at the time. I'm sure they were busy, and I'm sure the "virus stuff" excuse will have some bearing on their response...but the lack of compassion or care they exhibited, just very much disappointed us. Ultimately, in a panic, we called WILLOW CREEK VETERINARY HOSPITAL, a friend of mine had told me about this place a while ago.....they told us to bring her down IMMEDIATELY FOR EMERGENCY TREATMENT...We had never been there before, but they took us without question....ultimately our little girl had to be let go to fly with the Angels.....However, the concern and compassion and care, the doctor and staff at WILLOW CREEK showed us, have made a lasting impression on us....remember we were NOT their patients...but they treated our dog in her final moments like they had her all her life... Obviously I am writing this out of disappointment for how we feel we were abandoned in a time of dire medical need by the folks at COMPANION....I am sure there are those that have had good experiences at COMPANION ...I am not writing to sway anyone's belief....merely to vent my frustration...

I first met Nikki back in the late 90's when i had 2 cocker spaniels go through her training. They were great dogs because Nikki played a part in their lives. We used her training techniques throughout their 16 & 17 years. My most recent contact with Nikki has been in relation to her latest litter of Vom Evolution puppies as I have been thinking about getting another dog. I completely trust Nikki, her experience and proven results. Her knowledge and experience specifically with working line german shepherd dogs and all dogs in general makes her one of the best trainers and resources in Pennsylvania. You should also know that she has won many awards, titles and competitions through her hard work and dedication to all dogs and the german shepherd breed. I am editing this to add that Nikki's training facility is spotless. It is easily one of the cleanest animal facilities I have ever been to. She takes pride in her work and it shows.

We booked an appointment with Tony when Maggie was about four months old. The transition was unbelievable. He explained to us how dogs think and taught use how to correct bad behavior. In addition to teaching Maggie, Tony taught us what we were doing wrong. I feel it was well worth the cost and recommend K-9 Academy to anyone who is looking to get training for their dog.

I'm so glad we enrolled in Tony's classes at K9 academy because now we have a obedient dog and the confidence to continue with his training throughout the rest of his life. Most people are nervous to bring their beloved pets to trainers for fear of training to be too rough on them, I know we had our concerns when looking into trainers. Tony is very careful and shows you how to properly correct your dog from bad behaviors without hurting them like some of the other extreme methods for dog training. K9 academy charges a fair price for such a great experience, training and confidence you get with training your dog. I loved the fact that if I have questions even outside of class at anytime during the day I can call him for help and he will guide us in the right direction. You can't get that kind of service from any corporate pet store that offers dog training. Tony also never tried to up sell us on any kind of equipment for training or classes that he felt we didn't need. Tony's very passionate about his work and you can really tell his love for dogs when you meet. K9 academy offers so many different class everything from basic obedience to bomb sniffing training so it's easy to find something right for you and pursue your dogs training as high as you'd like. Our puppy is now 8 months old and is an extremely well behaved and gentle dog. Tony will forever train our dogs as we adopt more of them. If I could rate this place any higher than 5 stars I would. Thanks K9 academy.

Caitlin Nagy was recommended to us for the training of our pit/chow mix Reese. We inherited Reese…read morefrom our brother. We initially contacted her for help with what we saw as aggression in Reese. Even when my brother was alive it was next to impossible to form a bond with Reese. We figured that she is a one person dog. Simply put, we were scared of her. When we reached out to Caitlin for help her response was that there were reasons for Reese's behavior and that we would explore different avenues. We set up a house visit for our first training. On the day of our visit she explained that before working directly with Reese, she wanted to take a video of us walking Reese. After a couple of minutes of taking the video and observing Reese she determined we should consult with our vet. She was concerned that Reese might actually have a hip or knee problem and be in pain and in need of meds. We made that vet appointment and sure enough Reeese has knee problems. With proper meds, it is everyone's hope that this will relieve some of her pain and hopefully make it easier to work with her. Caitlin's approach is to look at the "whole" dog, as well as teaching us about dog language. We like this approach. Now that we are addressing Resse's physical issues we look forward to our next steps in helping us feel more confident and safe with Reese and her tendencies towards aggression. We understand that this is a process and look forward to working with Caitlin on the rest of this journey! Thank you so much Caitlin!

Caitlin is the reason our rescue pup, Kiwi, is becoming such a good girl! During our private…read moretraining sessions, Caitlin does the heavy lifting of introducing Kiwi to a new command, then reinforcing it before we would all practice to further solidify the commands. We'd end each week knowing exactly what to practice with Kiwi, and so far, she has stellar recall when off leash, knows "sit," "down," "go to bed," and is becoming a pleasure to walk with around the neighborhood (she used to be terrified of cars and would not understand leash walking at all). Kiwi's behavior improvements are remarkable, and we have Caitlin to thank!
