First, the Owner Sam greeted us as soon as we walked in the door! And let us know it was open seating wherever we would like. The small restaurant is spacious for its size. With both booths and tables offering variety for their patrons. Since it was our first time here, we weren't sure if ordering happened from the menu boards. Not two moments later, a smiling friendly Angelina came over with our menus. Tom and I were cracking up at the menu choices! American breakfast and lunch. Mexican Breakfast and lunch, AND authentic Chinese fare! It was pretty early, so breakfast was the only thing on my mind. The prices were unbelievably valuable! And their attention to detail was SPOT on! I mean, every single thing I asked for was perfection. Eggs scrambled soft. Bacon crisp. Potatoes well done. I have quite literally paid more than twice as much for food that I have been only 10% satisfied with. Kind of odd to find me in this place however when I drove by it really peaked my curiosity as it was advertising Chinese food and pancakes, so since I am quite the curious cat, I found myself here about an hour before they closed. The restaurant itself is barebones but clean and when I came in, I was the only customer ordering so I was a little nervous. I also dont regularly eat American Chinese food as I dont really have a tastebud for it and didnt grow up eating it. With that said, I ordered the combo B special and had Kung Pao Chicken. The woman taking my order was Korean and asked if I was Korean. I get Korean a lot as part of my family is originally from northern China. She was a very sweet and polite person so I didnt take any offense. After I ordered, two other people came in here and ordered the same combo B, seems its popular. I waited for my order, used their bathroom, which required a key (very clean bathroom) and then my order was ready. I was a bit skeptical about the food, however, after taking my first bite, it was delicious, even if it was a bit of a greasespoon! Yet another wonderful meal at Manna Restaurant today. Both Lupita and Angie shared the duty of serving me . Both were kind patient friendly and attentive with me. Patient because I was unsure as to whether I wanted breakfast or lunch today, given I stopped in a bit latter than I usually do for breakfast. I decided on Mama's Omelette. This proved to be a great choice It was well prepared and, I might add quite delicious. It's a step better than a Denver Omelette. You might say say a Super Denver Omelette. I ended up choosing breakfast over lunch because they don't serve their Chinese menu on Sunday, a fact I never knew, realized , or thought of in the quarter century since our friend Wanda Tribble introduced my Wife and I to Manna as a nice place for lunch after the Morning Service on Sundays. I came here with my son who wanted breakfast for dinner, this was the only place open besides IHOP. The place was empty we were the only customers but a great surprise the food was delicious cook to perfection. A little gem hidden for sure. I have been eyeballing this place for a few years now. I wasn't too sure about the place because it advertises Chinese food and pancakes, which I thought was a very strange mix of menu items. We decided to finally go on a Sunday after church. Because we didn't not want wait at a long Denny's line. So we gave it a shot. First of all, it was surprisingly roomy inside and clean. The staff was friendly more than I expected. It wasn't really a wait at all. So all that was good. But to me and my wife, we both thought the food was just OK. It wasn't a horrible, but it wasn't great. I was a little disappointed in the pancakes. For a place that has pancakes in the title of their business, I was expecting something fabulous. I actually think Denny's pancakes are better. It's good for a last resort. The parking kind of sucks too. So I was torn between two and three stars. Gave three because the service was good and food was fresh. Just not that great. Manna is such a nice little known hole in the wall. I love it and hate to give away a secret of a little gem because there's never a wait. While people waiting to sit down at nearby Dennys, and Aunt Emma's you can walk into Manna and sit down immediately. It looks small on the outside but had a lot of booths inside. The owner claims the food is made fresh, but they're actually heating it up in the microwave and it comes out scalding hot and burns your mouth extremely bad. I've never seen Chinese food at any restaurant from here to Las Vegas that makes freshly made food scalding hot from a wok. I had the sweet-and-sour chicken and it was not that good on top of the couple of bites I managed to eat. Freshly made food in a walk comes out warm but not scalding hot and burning your mouth for more than 10 minutes while it's cooling down. Please avoid this place at all cost it is terrible. Then the owner wanted to argue and yell at me telling me it was freshly made. I also never heard the wok in the kitchen clanging and banging at all, and the owner would not give my money back. A good place for a home cooked breakfast. I got here at 9 am on a Wednesday and it was kind of busy. I sat myself and the waitress was over to me in less than a minute. Super friendly and attentive. I was worried my food would be forgotten about or ordered wrong or slow. Everything came out in time and perfect. The food was pretty tasty. Food: I ordered the corned beef breakfast with hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. I always have to try the B and G! The eggs were perfect, the biscuits were perfect size, nice and thin. Usually the biscuits are huge. The gravy was ok. Kind of plain not bad or great just good. The corned beef was ok. I am not a fan of the little chunks of potatoes in the corned beef. I like the just beef style. Personal preference. Hash browns were good. Mixed all together with a little ketchup and tapatio and it was a good meal. Reasonably priced. It's cozy and don't wait to be seated, come on down and grab any open table and the server will approach you and take your order. This place beats the chain restaurants because they offer Chinese food starting at 10:00 am Ala Panda Express. I would categorize this eatery as Chop Suey of restaurants because not only they offer traditional American breakfast they also have Mexican and Chinese offerings. So here comes the true test, I like to order my t-bone steak and eggs and I did the same here. I noticed that my steak came missing the t-bone. Don't get me wrong the taste is good enough but I did notice that meat is typical of a Chinese beef broccoli variety. I no expert but I am sure that it's a t-bone imitation. To be fair, everything else was great. The pancakes were fluffy and bacon tasted like bacon. This place is a solid 3.5 stars and I will have to round up my review because the service was great. Located in Chula Vista on the corner of Broadway and F St next door to a gas station. Parking can be challenging since it is in a small strip mall with a row of other businesses. Clean establishment with a very open dining hall. Friendly customer service as well. It was quite empty when I arrived with just a few customer enjoying their breakfast meals. I was skeptical of even trying Manna. It had many good breakfast reviews but not so much on their chinese food and I was craving chinese food. I decided to give it a try and see for myself. Not too much to choose from as far as the chinese food items but very cheaply priced and good size amount of food for one serving. I ordered the 2 item combo ($6.51) which came with both fried rice and noodles. I originally asked for their beef and broccoli and orange chicken as my two items. Then I was told 5min later that they did not have any broccoli. So I switched my two items to Spicy Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. Fried rice ~ had good color and tasted like any ol other take out chinese place in Daygo. Noodles ~ were cooked perfectly. Not too soft and had a good mixture of veggies and tasted good. Spicy orange chicken ~ good flavor although I wouldn't go as far as saying it is spicy. Not too much breading on the chicken. God doesn't want us eating oily food on his day i guess. I'd def come back and have that as my go to every time. Eggs tasted real but they were def from a carton. Not sure if you can order real eggs unless not scrambled i suppose. The sausage was def pork but cooked thoroughly and tasted well seasoned. Don't believe it was home made tho. Hasbrowns perfectly cooked. In addition to my breakfast plate i ordered garlic chicken wings with rice instead of fries. It took 25 mins for me to get this plate. I had time but it wasn't ideal bc i wanted to eat half of each plate. I ended up eating my full breakfast plate and being full on that and trying one of my wings. No garlic flavor at all and very fatty. The rice tasted as if they poured a cup of salt into the water and was overly cooked with too much water aka mushy. I informed my server but she swore they don't use salt. I asked her to taste it and swapped the rice for fries. The fries were not seasoned and very mediocre. Whole plate was subpar. I would say this place is like a diner. It has American breakfast and lunch. It has a good Mexican menu. And it has some basic Chinese food dishes. Dine in or to go. They have waiters and waitresses to serve you. I decided to eat breakfast here this morning. A nice waitress greeted me and brought me a menu. Nice menu. I ordered the round up breakfast. It had 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, ham, hash browns and biscuit. Nice deal. The food came out quick. Food was good. Nice place to eat if your looking to an alternative to Dennys or ihop. Plenty of regulars here. The staff seems to know them well. They greet them by their names and have casual talk. Even the owner came out to chat with regulars. Nice to still have these family owned places that have a regular neighborhood relationship. Overall I can see myself coming back. The menu is vast and it has nice customer service. Finally a place with decent breakfast in the hood....well I finally found it rather, it's been there a while. The girl and I stumbled on it when we were checking places out in Chula Vista, we were lazies and didn't want to drive far. Breakfast is cheap and tasty, make sure you get the sausage patties. I dislike all other sausage but I will order it here. Basic breakfast, eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast are my go to. I can't really tell you about anything besides breakfast because that's why we go. The staff there is always friendly and keeps my coffee and water cup full. Mostly all booth seating is fun, I love sitting in booths. The place is never too full which makes me happy, I'm not a fan of waiting. Okay so not gonna lie.. kinda looks questionable when you're inside seeing that they have a Chinese restaurant on the half and then some Mexican and breakfast menu on the other side.. tried it out cause it had good reviews and was close.. and it was good!!! I got the vegetable omelette which I enjoyed very much, side of hash browns, perfect amount cooked to perfection and I chose the biscuit as my side as well which was very tasty and buttery. We order the triple plate (three eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, ham and toast) 6.99and the special 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage or bacon (for 3.50 can you say DAMN that's cheap) and two nice cups of coffee! We were sick of the "broken Joke", Denny's, International house of Pancakes. This is a nice local place in chula vista. The other thing i love is the fact that if you time it right you can have Chinese food with your breakfast eggs. they server it all. I still have to try the Chinese food but it looked pretty good. Don't let the fact that this place is in a sketchy strip mall scare you off. And don't the fact that they advertise Chinese food and pancakes scare you off either. And DEFINITELY don't let the clientele scare you off. If we had been intimidated by the lady in the witch hat dining solo or the man having a loud conversation into a cell phone that may or not have been working, we would have never discovered this gem of a diner. This is, hands down, our new favorite breakfast place in South Bay. They have a special of 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 bacon or sausage for $3.50. What a bargain. I remembered hearing about this place a few years back but don't recall eating here, but, maybe I did. I ate here a few weeks ago with hunger and excitement to try a new breakfast spot in CV. I know its a mom and pop shop but the moment I walked in I felt empty and cold. This place is to big and empty. It has no style or warmth to it at all. And, the fans were on at 10am. It was cold inside. I don't know about you guys, but I like being warm and cozy when I eat breakfast. I ended up ordering a vegetable omelette with a side of hash brown. The food came out rather quickly and the portions were a great size. Above decent for sure. My vegetable omelette included swiss cheese, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli and avocado. I even added black pepper and ketchup to my omelette and it tasted beyond bland. Better yet, tasteless. I couldn't believe it! It looked amazing and I honestly thought it was going to be beyond good. But, it wasn't and I was highly disappointed. The hash browns were crispy and good, at least. The prices are very reasonable and the customer service is extremely good. very nice family owned restaurant.
