This place is unique--it's a catering business, but it sells plates of food, sort of buffet-style, for $6.50. I love how family oriented the business is, and we could read all their stories on the wall. In addition to the comfort of the atmosphere, the food was great too! You can pick either rice or noodles, and you can choose up to two main dishes of their many options. They cook chicken curry, chicken adobo, pork belly, meatballs, and more. All options smell so delicious, but I went with the chicken curry, chicken adobo, and rice. The plate is extremely cheap for what you get! The portions are large and filling, and it's a great experience to be eating there. There are not a lot of places to eat Filipino in Upstate NY, so I'd take advantage of this great opportunity to eat some delicious food! Overall, this is a unique, cute restaurant. It's a catering and choose-your-own-dish restaurant, and it's great to bring friends. Food is cheap, quality, and delicious! Will definitely be here again if in the area!

Amazing experience here with the kamayan feast that was prepared with love by Chef Champ!…read more When we arrived, the table was all set. Chef Champ greeted us and learned each guest's name and showed us how to properly grab the food for kamayan. We were encouraged to grab a drink from the fridge, and I had the calamansi. We feasted on chicken lumpia with Thai chili sauce, lechon with garlic vinegar, chicken inasal, sweet and sour snapper with rice, 3 types of sauces and fruit. And as a dessert, we had beautifully prepared halo halo. After the meal, Chef Champ explained the hand painted wall and the inspiration for the design. This was such a wonderful and cozy experience. I wish I lived closer to Troy so I could go back again!

Menu changes so keep an eye out. If owner is reading this, please add fresh lumpia to the menu once in a blue moon (because that's something I've refused to try cooking at home it's too many components). For anyone wondering what that is it's a savory crepe with cooked vegetables with a sweet and salty sauce and it's so good. Halo halo was good. Reminded me of the days when my parents would buy halo halo from the Filipino storefronts on summer weekends in southern California where i grew up. I got 2, 1 for me and 1 for my fiance. It seemed as though 2 different people made our halo halos because his had coconut, mine didn't and his had a garlic aftertaste like when you cut a fruit on a cutting board after cutting garlic on a cutting board since garlic is strong. Service was so fast. It's all preorder so i ordered the day before, got a text ~15 min before my pick up time that it was ready and picked it up. It's a small place, cute and cozy for a fast meal or for takeout. We know where we'll get our halo halo fix. That and fresh lumpia are the things i eye on the weekly preorder menu

When I first discovered Kim's, comparison to Jang Teo was inevitable and, as a result, I quickly decided I preferred Jang Teo. Some years later, I revisited Kim's to realise that their pricing for the most part is comparable to Jang Teo, and they tend to stock some unusual items that are hit and miss. Take the frozen bibim kit recent for, for example. I wasn't interested especially with the $5.99 price tag, but I picked it up after seeing it discounted to $3.99 albeit with reservations. It turns out I had reasons to be hesitant. The rice is too sticky for bibim and there's not nearly enough toppings. On the other hand, the frozen kimbap rolls still impress me and are clearly a hit. All in all, I'm appreciative that they're with us and I can source goodies without needing to travel hundreds of miles. Long live Kim's.

If you're like me and can't live without a variety of Asian goodies like tea and crackers, your jaw is bound to drop at the sights as you walk in. Sure, the aisles are only wide enough for one person to walk through straight on, but that's a small concession for what's on offer here. Their produce section is surprisingly extensive, there's even a seafood section, and it looks like they've finally revamped the hot food next to the front entrance. The staff at checkout here are always quick and efficient, and I'm grateful they're such a decent Asian supermarket in the Capital District to complement the wonderful Kim's and Jang Tuh. They have their own parking lot and we have come close to not finding a parking space here, but there's a constant flow of people coming and going, so we've never actually not found parking.

The overall cleanliness of the store also raises some serious concern! It's really disappointing because a good Asian grocery store is hard to find in the area. There's a small section right up front of seasonal fruit/vegetables & some items on sale. This Korean grocery store is on a busy strip of Rt. 9, not too far from Latham Traffic Circle, across from a car dealership, and shares a small lot with Tamarind Thai, a Chinese Take-out Restaurant, and a vape store. There's more parking in the back. It's a lot larger and homier than it looks on the outside. The Spring & Summer months are especially nice, they have little seedlings of starter plants on the pavement out front & a community cork board up front. There's a lot of selection of frozen mandoo (dumplings), Melona ice cream bars, fresh Kimchee, soft tofu, a small but fresh section of vegetables (chives, oyster mushrooms, napa cabbage, burdock root), LOTS of family packs of Instant Korean Ramen (Ramyun), a Back room of Korean Home Goods (decent prices, nice glass tupperware, the have THE green "Italian bath towel" scrubby mitts for $2.99! THE best exfoliation that Instagram tries to sell similar mitts for *much* more). There's aisles of snacks & candy, cooking sauces, flour & yam noodles, Korean gim/seaweed, Chili powder, Frozen seafood & rice cakes, bags of rice, dried kelp & anchovies for stock, barley & Cintron tea, banana yogurt drinks. There's other Asian products too (Thai curry paste, some Chinese & Filipino sauces). The prices are a little higher than other Asian Markets in the Capital Region, so I usually just go for specific items: Yam Noodles for a Japchae recipe, Chapaghetti black bean Instant Ramen, a seasoned Seaweed crumble topping for rice, A small pack of Chinese-Korean black bean sauce for JaJang noodles (perfect size for a solo chef, haven't seen this size portion anywhere else). Oh and Yes! You can buy a Neoguri Ramen & Chapaghetti Ramen and make some noodles like the film Parasite. ...didn't see if they had frozen beef. Not sure if it's due to the pandemic, but sometimes they're out of stock on things, so it's better to call ahead. I realized that Wal-M--t carries Shin Black Ramen now because they were always out. Overall, a really nice find and I love wandering around & looking at all the products. The staff is so kind, their friends seem to stop by often & chat in the back kitchen/fridge area. Jang Tuh seems to have pretty much all the things that may not be essential but make life even more enjoyable. The prices seem reasonably competitive and stock level seems stable, so they're set to stay on regular rotation for me.

The Smokehouse Barbecue Food Cart & The NOMAD Chefs Food Cart…read more Wilmington, Vermont Around the time that I moved to Vermont , I started hearing about An Incredible Team Of Chefs Called "The Nomad Chefs"Founded By The Great Brandon Ruble. They were Featured Each Week At That Time At The Wilmington Inn For Their "Wicked Wednesday" Events & They Always Got Rave Reviews. Each Week Mr Ruble Would Change Up The Menu With New & Delicious surprises with flavors and tastes from all Around the globe. And each Time I Went, The Food Was perfection. It wasn't long before Brandon Ruble Was The Talk Of The Town and Over the last two years or so, he went on to purchase a food truck for "Nomad Chefs" & Everybody Loves It. And Not long ago, I heard he had a brand new Food Truck & Started A Whole New Brand Called "The Smokehouse". They are currently at the River Valley Market & I'd been dying to go but kept missing it for one reason or the other, but last week I got there at just the right time. I even Got A Chance To Meet Brandon Ruble himself & He Was Just As Sweet As He Is Talented. It's easy to see how hard he works & How Well. A true master at what he does. A seasoned professional. Dan Took my order and he was awesome. Funny, sweet & Very Accommodating. His sweet tea was out of this world & Some of the best I've ever had. I Ordered the Brisket with Sides Of Coleslaw, Baked Beans & Homemade Cornbread. I Was Hesitant to order the brisket as my recent experiences doing so at other establishments didn't turn out so well. It takes a special touch to get brisket just right and not over or under cooked. Usually people miss the mark one way or the other. But The minute I opened my to-go box, I knew this wouldn't be the same. You could literally see how juicy it was & The meat was so tender it was almost falling apart In Your Mouth. To say that it was perfection would be an understatement. And the Flavor? Sooooo delectable. Rich & Full Bodied. Just perfect. Holy smokes was that delicious ( No Pun Intended). This was hands down The best brisket I've Ever had in all my life and I'm no spring chicken. Theres such a huge difference in the taste when its made by someone who is a true artist. Someone who puts thought, and time into all of the dishes that he adds to his menu. Someone like Brandon Ruble. I would highly recommend this food cart 100%. It Is Without A Doubt, The Best & Most Delicious Meal You'll Find & even The Fairest Price. Not Only Will You Love It, You Will Leave Full And Happy & You'll want to come back & So will your whole family. As You Eat Or Wait For Your To-Go Order, You'll Smell The Two Extra Large Smokers Going The Whole Time. The menu has something For Everyone, including Chicken Wings, Burgers, Fries & Even Hush Puppies. The main attraction though is the smoked platter. You choose your meat , IE Brisket, Pork Etc & pick two side dishes. No matter what you pick it'll be delicious. You will be very happy. I guarantee it. I went back a few days later with a friend of mine who's usually the hardest critic and doesn't like to to try new things. He sticks with the places he knows and goes there habitually. But even he went crazy over "The Smokehouse". His quote exactly was "This Is Better Than Any Place In Town". And THAT is the hugest statement of all in a place like vermont where there's delicious food everywhere. I highly recommend "The Smokehouse" Food Cart, In Addition to The "Nomad Chef's" Food Cart & Or Anything Else Brandon Ruble Puts his hands on. This man is absolutely gifted. The meal that I Had At "The Smokehouse" is only one of the many incredible creations that we've all come to know & expect from Mr Ruble When He Puts His name on Something. As far as I can see, there's nothing this man can't do. 5 stars
