The owners, manager & staff truly want you to have the BEST experience. Based on this we decided to have my daughters Bridal shower @ Mangia E Bevi. The shower was this past Saturday 4/11/26 and it couldn't have been more perfect. Went with some friends last week and boy what a mistake! 20 minutes just to get a 20.00 cocktail . This is Long Island not manhattan!!! Food was slow and the restaurant was filled to about 30% capacity which was an immediate red flag. Chicken parm and salmon were dry and overpriced for quality. Penne vodka was adequate at best with overcooked pasta. No server checked back on us. Now to make it worse, we wanted to have coffee and talk with friends but then this loud music comes on, which is not the right fit for this type of area. The place definitely has an identity crisis. I would strongly advise against this place for a large group groups, quiet conversation. We always decide for ourselves and never go by other people's reviews because they can be subjective but the one thing that we notice is that it's never the owner's fault. Every single review that is subpar There is some excuse or they try to justify how great their place is. If you don't have thick skin or can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! I've attached the receipt for reference. Just sharing this for clarity, as accurate pricing helps set the right expectations for guests. Original review: When a $20 cocktail feels more like a shot, it tends to set the tone for the evening. We visited this restaurant tonight with high expectations, but the experience ultimately fell short. To start on a positive note, the hostess set a welcoming tone--friendly, polished, and professional--and the bus staff remained attentive and pleasant throughout the evening. We were also served complimentary bread with olive oil for dipping, along with a large bottle of tap water--both nice touches that added to the initial impression. We began with the Sol Di Coconut cocktail ($20), recommended by our waitress. While visually appealing, it arrived in a small glass with a large ice cube--closer in size to a shot than a proper cocktail--and felt underwhelming for the price. When I mentioned this, I was told this is simply their standard preparation. For our appetizer, we shared the wild caught colossal shrimp ($34), which came with three pieces. It was decent, but not particularly memorable. For our mains, we selected two pastas from the homemade pasta menu. I ordered the bucatini with seafood ($38), and my husband had the fusilli ($31). His dish was notably bland, and while mine was slightly better, it still didn't rise above average. At these price points, we expected more depth of flavor and execution. You hear stories about PTSD and you think to yourself how could something so horrible happen to such a good person.... Then you eat at Mangia E Bevi.... Then you understand.... We showed up at Mangia E Bevi for a 7pm reservation and were promptly seated. After a short wait of only 30 minutes and exhausting all our bread baskets, our waitress finally found the time to come over to introduce herself. After ordering our drinks they promptly brought them over another 30 minutes later, this gave us plenty of time to reflect on all the bad decisions we've made in our lives up to this point. After another short wait of ONLY 45 more minutes, they were kind enough to give us the opportunity to put in our dinner and appetizer orders. Thankfully during this brief intermission, we were rewarded with some of the best Disco instrumentals from the 70's from a DJ you wouldn't let work your grandmothers 80th Birthday.... It's hilarious that two members of our party and the owner asked the DJ to change the playlist and he refused. The management and the waitstaff all agreed the music was horrendous. Fast forward another hour and to our surprise 1/2 our appetizers showed up. Thankfully the DJ set the mood by playing the best Disco Elevator music of the late 70's while we waited for the other 1/2 of our appetizers. On a positive note the owner made sure to apologize repeatedly and offered us a bottle of wine... I know he was trying to make a gesture but this didn't make up for the 2 1/2 hours of waiting we've already endured. Finally the big moment came, the entrees. In case anyone at is keeping track, we ordered one veal dish.... How many did they try to bring us? Yes you guessed it... 3. It's amazing when your friend orders a pasta dish and they proceed to offer him anything but... after offering him veal for the 3rd time they came to the realization maybe he didn't order veal, so of course they offered him chicken... 1/2 of the dishes were either incorrect or had to be reordered because they never came to the table until much later. The owner handled this nightmare of a dinner amazingly well.... Then it got progressively worse. First he offered wine, then he said we shouldn't have booked a 12 top at 7pm because it's too much for the kitchen staff, to finally "Why can't you women be more happy like the men"... Keep in mind it was 10:45 and 3 of our women hadn't even been served their dinner yet. Just when we thought waiting 3 hours to be fed was the breaking point, our waitress went full savage and threw a cocktail in one of our faces. Refreshing! It's sad because we had such high hopes but the place failed in so many ways.... read more

Thursday night after a ball game in Massapequa, my little girl asked to get some pasta for dinner. I checked Yelp for a local Italian restaurant and found Mangia E Bevi. Ambience: upscale decor with tablecloth. The restaurant is split in half with a large bar and lounge on one side, and dining room on the other. The hostess strangely asked to take down my first and last name before seating us. Food: Calamari: freshly battered and Fried. Very flavorfully seasoned and crunchy. 4/5 Octopus Carpaccio - thinly sliced octopus. Lightly acidic. 4/5 Braised Short Rib - beautifully plated served on a bed of polenta. We had a great dinner here. Our waiter, Ernesto, was excellent--very friendly, quick with service, and did a great job explaining the night's specials. We started with the fried calamari and meatballs, and both were very good. For entrées, we ordered the vodka chicken parm, spicy rigatoni, and the ribeye special, along with a couple of other dishes that everyone enjoyed. The espresso martini was also delicious. This place has become one of my favorite restaurants. It manages to be many good things at once. The owners (husband and wife) and staff treat you like it's a neighborhood haunt. But the decor and ambiance are snazzy, and transports you to somewhere sunny like Miami or L.A. It works for date night. It works for a night out with the friends. It works for a special occasion. Oh, and the food is excellent. There is a porterhouse (as a special) that rivals the steakhouses that specialize in them. The flatbreads are great (they have their own pizza oven), the Veal Chop Mangia Beve style is excellent, and the pastas are all cooked to perfection. For the wine lovers, you will not find a better selection on Long Island- and that is not hyperbole. Check out the menu and see for yourself. Give this place a try. Honestly, can't say enough good things about this place. Everything I've tried has been excellent. My favorites are the veal chop Valdostano... ginormous and excellent, the Branzino, and the Ahi Tuna...I'm not a huge pasta person but have tried many of the pizzas and they are very good also! Not the cheapest nor the most expensive place on the island and the owners make you feel at home. Highly recommend. It was easy to make a reservation on open table. The atmosphere is beautiful and they had a DJ playing old school music which was fun and not too loud. The service was very friendly and relaxed. We didn't feel rushed at all. We got the eggplant parmesan which although an appetizer was easily entree size, margarita flatbread pizza and short rib pasta. Date night, girls night, family dinner, drinks with friends... They have a beautiful restaurant with sit down service and on the other side they have a bar and a fun lounge area with the perfect vibes for a great night!! The best part? They're delicious food! Everything we got was 10 out of 10 insanely delicious! The tricolor pizza flatbread was hands-down my favorite! But also the pesto pasta was absolutely out of this world! Everything was so good. Recently tried this new hotspot with my friend who I haven't seen in a long time. I mention this because I'll explain in a bit... The restaurant is beautiful! A great place for groups or family dinner. They have fun decor like a neon light wall by the bar area and a disco ball hanging from the dining room. My friend and I had a hard time choosing from their speciality cocktails because so many sounded delicious. Although $18-$20 a drink is a bit steep for me, it seems somewhat aligned with other upscale restaurants on the island. And I enjoyed my mule! There was a DJ playing extremely loud club music. Although this was fun in the beginning, I really had a hard time having a conversation with my friend. By the time we got our entree it was around 8:30, most people had finished eating and were gone... but the music was still super loud. I get restaurants wanting this type of vibe, but it was really annoying having to yell over the music. Nevertheless, the food was delicious! The bread basket was awesome with a variety of different rolls and focaccia and some herbed olive oil on the side. Our eggplant parmigiana appetizer was just enough for the 2 of us and cooked perfectly! We both got the cavatelli with shrimp which was a generous portion and just awesome! My good friend and I came here on a whim after our initial plans changed Sunday. Hungry and in need of a yummy meal fix, Mangia e Bevi popped up. Let's go! Convenient parking in back municipal lot and entrance available from the back as well which makes it convenient. We perused the menu and I was just feeling a nice, warm bowl of soup before my main so I ordered the spinach straciatella (Italian comfort). I love a good tortellini brodo but this wasn't on the menu (maybe they will add it in the future?) and I ordered the eggplant Parmesan for my main (which is under the app menu). My friend ordered the Cesar salad with chicken. While we waited for our main, our server Ernesto brought us a yummy bowl of bread. Trust when I say, use the herb infused olive oil that is on the table to dip your bread into. It is sheer perfection. The ambiance here is fun, and seems to have a great vibe whether you are here with friends, family or a date. The owner (manager?) came around to check in on us too, which is always a nice touch and shows they care about your experience. And Benjamin, another waiter, even brought some extra bread out to me to eat with the rest of my eggplant (which was delicious by the way!) It comes here with vodka sauce but I asked to swap it out for marinara which they happily obliged. It was a huge portion for an app and I easily got two meals out of it. My wife and I took our friends here for their birthday. Everything was really good, the service, the vibe, the food, and the drinks. I got the Holy Cannoli cocktail. It was way lighter and not as creamy as I was expecting which was actually a pleasant surprise. We all shared the white wine and garlic mussels for an appetizer, which were good. The restaurant is large and beautiful with smartly sectioned eating, dining and lounge areas. For such a large place the acoustics were amazing. The restaurant had a buzz but no overwhelming noise from any section. The food was fantastic as was the wine selection. We had 3 courses and all were great tasting with good portion sizes and presentation. The staff were extremely professional. Our glasses were always filled and the conversation always friendly. After 20 minutes they brought the stands for the flatbread. 20 minutes after that, they came over to tell us they ran out of the dough for the flatbread, and we would not be able to have that. (Mind you, we have zero food at this point.) He handed us menus again, but at this point we are very hungry and it's extremely loud. We were so turned off by the wait staff not telling us about the issue with the order until 940, that we walked out of the place and found food elsewhere. Whats the point of having an 8pm reservation if you aren't served food until 10 pm? They didn't even come back to ask if we wanted another drink or appetizer in the meantime. What a great experience!!! The inside is very big and has a modern and fun vibe. One side is more of a lounge and the other is the restaurant. And the food was amazing! Michael the owner and each of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The cucumber martini was refreshing and delicious. The zucchini linguini was full of fresh zucchini and a generous helping of shrimp! My husband ordered the organic chicken Parm ala vodka, which the rigatoni had a nice kick, and the chicken was crispy and fresh. The entrée dishes were very generous portions. Amazing new restaurant that is actually open late on a Monday! Had the pleasure of popping in randomly for a meal and was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful setting. Gorgeous massive bar and additional seating for over 100 people. We had their Chicken Parmesan (one ala vodka and the other in the classic marinara sauce) and it was delicious. It came with veggies and a side of potatoes which were perfectly cooked. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. They have several wines on tap in addition to a large wine selection. The bar was stocked with dozens of liquor choices and beers. Can't ask for much more. They haven't started a brunch menu yet but this place would be amazing for that. We had the opportunity to visit a new local restaurant tonight and I'm trying to find the proper adjectives. Let's start with refreshing. The decor was great and designed beautifully. Next.... Menu was great and packed with great choices and almost difficult to decide. So difficult that we ordered 4 entrees for 3 people. Why not. Food came quickly and everything looked great. Better than the look was the taste. Absolutely delicious. Freshest pasta I've had since having homemade at a Little Italy, NYC spot we frequent. This was just as good if not better. Seafood was fresh, my wife loves the chicken ala vodka and my son devoured the short rib. We had to try the desserts, cheesecake and fries Oreos for the win. Sure some people may get sticker shock from the prices - however it was worth every penny. I always say, I don't mind paying $1000.00 for a meal if it's delicious and memorable. Came here after my daughter's dance recital to try it out for the first time and was blown away. Debbie accommodated us despite having a party running on the other side and even let the kids sit on their "own" over on the couch in the lounge. Food was incredible -- we had the octopus carpaccio and the pizza flatbread as an appetizer. Both excellent. My husband ordered the boneless chicken with sausage and peppers and really enjoyed the uniqueness of the dish and the brown gravy it was in! I had the short rib pasta and it was just as you can imagine and portions are HUGE. My friend got the Tuscan kale salad and the dressing was sooo good! Think tangy Dijon vinaigrette. I'm typically not a fan of sweet and salty and it was sooo good. Only thing we didn't love were the truffle fries, they are very heavy on the truffle if you're into that! Drinks were good but a bit steep on the price 18$, but I guess that's the going rate these days. Service was exceptional and a dj was playing so there was music which was nice but could be a bit loud for those who aren't into that type of dining experience.
