Use to be my favorite inasal when I go to the Philippines but found a mom and pop shop that was better. The chicken plate I ordered took a while to get and I thought the size and the amount of meat on the chicken was small. This was still better than Bacolod Chicken, another franchise inasal place but not as good now that I've had C.H.E, Bacolod Chicken House Express, in Makati. With your order, you get sinagang broth which was okay. Solid 4 star place for an inexpensive meal

This is my go to place in Manila, borocay, anywhere in the Philippines. Delicious soup, the garlic rice is amazing! Spicy chicken is great! Crema de leche halo halo is also something you should while there!

BBQ chicken and halo-halo is why I always come here. It's good and cheap. Best combo in my books!

The dim sum cart came around quick, and we loaded up on hakaw, siu mai, char siu bao, and those amazing crispy taro puffs--everything was hot, fresh, and tasted just like the old-school spots back home. The spare ribs were tender and saucy, not overly sweet, and the yang chow fried rice had that perfect wok hei. Service was friendly even though it was packed; our server made sure we had hot tea refills without us asking. Super affordable too--we fed six of us and still had leftovers for under 2k. Total comfort food win. Definitely heading back next time we're in the area. Five stars all the way!

I can summarily declare that all the items we ordered were below our culinary standards in the following order from worst to not so bad. HK style fried noodles, the sauce was peanuty tasting poured over noodles. Horrible looking. The congee is not very appealing to the eyes and the palate. The duck was bony. The congee itself was barely hot. Siomai was no good either. The roasted duck with rice again lacking presentation appeal. The tofu skin roll is ok thus the 2 star. The waiter was very green. Served our sodas without glasses. Avoid and don't believe the hype.

Wingstop - Chicken Wings

We ended up at Wingstop because we just wanted a place to sit, talk and munch without the rituals…read moreof a full meal. While ordering our 11-pc Batter-Fried Wings, the cashier told us that we had 3 FREE WINGS! Turns out they had a promo where you get free wings. I didn't even know about this promo! So, the promo is, you get FREE WINGS, based on your order: 5 wings - 1 wing free 7 wings - 2 wings free 11 wings - 3 wings free The free wings must be the same type (classic or batter-fried), and can only be one flavor. If you complete all the flavors on the card, you get a P1,000 GC! Promo period is from May 23 - August 31, 2016. Too bad they don't deliver. They do have order pick-up, so next time I can just drive over and pick up my wings, or hang out there first, read a book. Gotta take advantage of the free parking at Circuit Makati while you can! The 11-pc Batter-Fried Wings is P395, but because of the promo, we were actually getting 14 pcs! That's P28/pc. It's a mix of the drumette, and the wingette + tip. We got the Lemon Pepper, Louisiana Rub, Honey Garlic and Teriyaki this time. Then after that, I also had some Wingstop again and tried the Garlic Parmesan and Mild Buffalo. To me, the dry rubs (Lemon Pepper, Louisiana Rub and Garlic Parmesan) are the best flavors I have tried from Wingstop, Garlic Parmesan being the one I liked best, and will probably be the ones I will keep on ordering. I didn't really like the Teriyaki - the molasses and some kind of lime flavor was too strong. I expected the Teriyaki to taste like sweet ginger soy syrup, so the molasses flavor threw me off. As for the Honey Garlic, I expected it to taste like honey and fried garlic, and was disappointed by the addition of the soy sauce component. It was milder, but still similar to the Teriyaki. The Mild Buffalo was just a mild hot sauce coated chicken, no ranch or blue cheese dressing included (must be bought separately). I was expecting a buttery, garlicky, sweet and hot sauced chicken wing. Flavor-wise, I think I like the flavor profile of Frankie's Wings much better. This is not to say that Wingstop's chicken is not good. The chicken wings were crispy and juicy. Unfortunately, I just did not like the sauces I tried, and it's a personal preference. Who knows, you might turn out to like them! Fortunately for me, there are more flavors for me to try. The promo is a big incentive for me to go back and try the other flavors. The restaurant is clean, everything is still new. Air-conditioning is cold, always a plus. They have a sink where customers can wash their hands, but they also provide plastic gloves. The sink was fun, you push the front of the sink with your knee to turn on the faucet.

And knowing the creature of habit that I am, they already know what my order would be: the Low Calorie Healthy Plate a.k.a. the one with grilled fish, garlic rice, steamed vegetables, and iced tea a.k.a. my ultimate comfort food. For particularly bad days, I throw in dessert (Plain Yogurt) to the mix. I don't know when this particular ritual of ours began, but it has served us well. It helps that Kenny's fare is generally healthier than other fastfoods, so we can indulge without the guilt. Also, the setting is conducive to catching up and airing out our problems. It's not too loud, the lighting is nice and warm, and the seating and temperature comfortable. Apart from the meal I mentioned above, there are many other meal choices, with their Roasted Chicken as the star of the show. Try their side dishes and pick a favorite. Mine are the Coleslaw and the Sour Cream and Chives Potatoes, yum! This particular branch has a Seattles Best Coffee branch attached to it, which is convenient is you need caffeine after your meal or if some of your companions just want coffee for lunch or dinner.

They have television playing ads and Solenn Heussaff's is sexy and hilarious! Although they have coffee, Seattle's Best is just literally next door if you want more coffee options. Food I've just finished consuming some delicious breakfast food here for the first time. Looking for lunch solo meals isn't necessary (or possible since it really starts lunch time). The chicken is still served roasted and garlic rice plus coffee hit the spot nicely. I'm really happy their chicken still tastes good and the quarter chicken is pretty big!

However, Steak Escape is in the middle of this conundrum and confusion. They serve generous amounts of meat and rice (and even gravy) on a sizzling plate that will speak out to your very hungry stomach. I recommend their Sirloin steak, the T-bone steak and any dish with eggs! Their java rice would also not disappoint you, and if you're a heavy eater, immediately order extra rice. The flavors of the steak, java rice and gravy complement one other very well, you would not mind its intense burning sensation upon ordering (hey, it's on a sizzling plate, after all).

I'm not one of those people who worry about food at the food court. After all, it's one of the places you can get the cheapest meals when out in the mall. Either way, I never have to worry about the food at Steak Escape even if I was picky. Whatever you order, it's cooked right there at the back and served with a ladle of gravy. When it comes to you, it's smoking and sizzling and does have the ability to burn a hole through your cup of soda if you aren't careful. With affordable prices and pretty generous servings, this is probably one of the food court spots I willingly go to when I can't find anywhere specific I want to eat. One thing though: remember that bit I said about food being cooked before it gets handed to you? That can sometimes cause a bit of a wait so be prepared to stand in line with the rest of the patrons to wait for your food. And wait for it to cool a bit before taking that first bite. I know it's hard but you must resist. I've lost count of how many times I've burned my tongue on a spoonful of hot rice and meat.

Dahell ever happened to Tropical Hut? The food at tropical hut isn't bad. Not by a long shot. It's…read morestill the original Filipino food you know at fairly affordable prices. However, the thing that Tropical Hut really never did is add anything particularly new to their menu: their menu from 5 years ago is still relatively the same as their menu now. That's not really a bad thing, but well, a lot of the food at Tropical Hut is a little bit lackluster. And as a fast food place, they're still around on average 20 pesos more expensive than their competition. Really, the only thing I still go to Tropical Hut for is the absolutely amazing Spaghetti. When I was a kid, I would scarf down Tropical Hut's insanely sweet spaghetti with that melted cheese on top. It's still thankfully pretty much the same. The only thing that disappoints me is the bread. The bread that it used to come with was this sort of butter-topped loaf thing, but now it comes with a bland, tough piece of pastry. There's also their pretty good french fries - they're in that sweet spot between kinda soft but kinda crunchy too.

I love Tropical Hut. This despite the fact that I only ever order three items on their menu because…read moreI'm a creature of habit. If only fastfood eating is healthier both for my body and for my wallet, I'd happily eat all my lunches there. The convenient location--just a few steps away from my office--doesn't hurt either. Anyway, if you're wondering about the three items I meantioned above, here they are: Chicken Shanghai (with rice), Chicken Sandwich (with fries), and Chicken Sopas. (In the future I might just grow wings with all the poultry I'm eating.) The Chicken Shanghai is a welcome change since it seems that all others, especially fastfoods, offer Lumpiang Shanghai made of pork. The Chicken Sopas has a light, milky broth that never fails to be comforting. But my hands down favorite is the Chicken Sandwich. Too often, restaurants that offer this fare fail by having a dry chicken spread. What I like about Tropical Hut's version is that the spread is quite wet, and thus, blends nicely with the bread. Prices here are quite affordable, too. Both the Chicken Sandwich meal and the Chicken Shanghai and Chicken Sopas combo cost less than Php 100. That's a good deal for a hearty meal!
