MUAHAHAHAHA, I CAN FINALLY WRITE A REVIEW ON THIS PLACE!
This place gets this many stars on nostalgia alone, but allow me to elaborate.
When I was young―and I mean YOUNG as in not old enough to fathom that someday I could write online reviews that would matter in some way, shape, or form―there was a Kenny Rogers Roaster right here in my neck of the woods, Vallejo, CA. I always wanted to eat there, but we were a pretty poor family growing up back then, so we rarely if ever ate at sit-down restaurants. If we did, it's because we went to the mall with my friends and their family or something (and that's how I discovered New Mecca Cafe in Pittsburg.) I NEVER knew how it was. And a few years later, it closed. The space is now occupied by Cha Am, a Thai restaurant. Sadface, eternally.
Fast forward a few years and I'm in the Philippines. Haven't been there for many years (we're talking since a baby here.) Enjoying all kinds of Filipino food... and then suddenly I see it. The diamond in my eyes from my childhood: KENNY ROGERS FLIPPING ROASTERS. It's SO necessary that I eat here. Now granted, it's probably slightly different from what was in North America, with a addition of rice and sides that are uniquely Filipino. But still, the chicken is good. As are the sides. I dunno, perhaps it's nostalgia overload of a childhood memory that never came to fruition, but I enjoyed this a lot! Great friendly service as well.
Portions are a tad bit on the small side, but then again... I'm from the U.S., so it's like that everywhere. I just order more and I'm good. So happy this place is alive and well in Asia.
SO GLAD I FINALLY REVIEWED THIS PLACE! read more
