First of all, Mane Teasers is a woman-owned establishment. THIS fact alone should have you booking an appointment with them. "Go, woman power!" I recently visited Mane Teasers because my hairstylist -- who I had for years -- decided to "retire" from hairdressing and venture into another, more lucrative, and completely different profession or business. When I was looking for a hairstylist, I really wanted to find one who was local. I LITERALLY have been passing by Mane Teasers in my car for over twenty years, but I never stopped to walk in. Thank G-d, I did. Because of Kathy's knowledge of hair texture and opinions on how I should wear my hair, I really appreciated her expertise. I will definitely be returning to them. read more

I found Kathy Burroughs' Mane Teasers salon while searching for an Aveda Concept Salon near me. The salon is a peaceful, calming space to enter with soothing scents and music and inviting displays of Aveda products as well as charming gifts. I was overdue for a trim and shaping of my long, wavy hair. Kathy did a magnificent job creating a lovely wash-n-wear look that doesn't require a lot of products or any tools to replicate at home. My hair hasn't looked this good in years! I highly recommend Kathy and her beautiful Mane Teasers salon. read more

Great hair color, using Aveda color products. Nice small salon. Brenda was very nice, I will be back!

Yelp Challenge 2016: 44/116 What an adorable little local salon! I never would've known about this hometown favorite if not for my friend from high school (she drives an hour to get here) who is a regular and loyal customer. So we met up at Mane Teasers one Saturday afternoon and I was treated to a relaxing cup of Aveda "Comforting" tea and a Chakra reading while I watched the colorist do my friend's hair. The aromatherapy scents make this salon smell like a spa... This is an Aveda Concept Salon and it has a good selection of products. I purchased an Aveda soy candle and a pair of blue peace sign earrings. The salon showcases local artists' jewelry and I'm a sucker for handmade trinkets. The Chakra reading was my first. This is done with 7 Aveda scents. You choose cards with symbols and colors and then you smell the aromatherapy scents until you narrow it down to one. Interesting and relaxing! There's a definite artistic, holistic, organic vibe at Mane Teasers which I found to be enjoyable. I'd certainly go back for salon services... read more

Kathy does a great job on men's hair. Been goi to her for years and will continue.

Thanks for your review C.S. I second your review! I've been seeing Kathy for over 10 years and I can't believe how time flies. Both ladies are so professional and indeed do care. I have always loved Aveda products and this salon is no exception. I can find all the products I need and Kathy goes out of her way to ensure her shelves are fully stocked . Just love the Aveda aura and the calming atmosphere. It's my relaxation time I look forward to every time I step into their doors. Bless you Mane Teasers. Mane Teasers - Hair Salons Near Me - Burbank, California

Kathy is a soulful kind and gentle soul and there just aren't enough of these people left. She has a lot of experience and cuts hair with ease and skill. Plus, Aveda products rock and that's what she uses. If you just want a real person to style your hair, go here. read more

Been coming here for a couple years now. She always knocks it out of the park with my cut and color. I should highly recommend Kathy!

I'm very picky when it comes to who cuts my hair. My mom owned a hair salon and I've only had three people cut my hair on a consistent basis during my life. 1) My mother from 1976 to 2001, 2) Jennifer who cut my hair in Indiana from 2001 to mid 2005, from mid 2005 until mid 2006 I was in hair cut purgatory going to different people every month and then I was recommended to Kathy. Kathy does a great job and aims to please. She gives me several ideas for my hair and always lets me try different products. Her salon is always very clean and a nice touch is that she decorates for EVERY holiday. Parking is easy and if you show up early there is really good selection of magazines. I highly recommend Mane Teasers to anyone in the Burbank/Glendale area. read more

I'm SO reluctant to write a review because I want Kathy all to myself!! She is amazing. I've been to her twice now. I have the type of hair that is impossible to manage. There is lots of it and it just kind of does what it wants. She has cut, done highlights and styled my hair. She gives me her opinions of what I should do with it and at the same time listens to what I want really well. I love the environment there, the Aveda products, the way it smell and Kathy I love ya girl! read more

Kathy is Wonderful! In a huge metro city like LA, you can have your pick of hair dressers, but if you decide to go to Mane Teasers, you won't be disappointed. Kathy will listen to exactly what it is you want and what you're looking for. But she will also give you her expert opinion if it helps make your decision. She's been doing this for a very long time and can be very helpful. Kathy's also incredibly entertaining while you're sitting in your chair getting your new DO. Of all the salons in LA, this is the one I keep going back to... it will turn into your home away from home. read more

I have been a client of Kathy's for over 10 years. I now live 300 miles away in Mammoth, CA, but I travel every six weeks to have Kathy do my color and cut. She's the absolute best!! I trust her judgment completely about the style and color. She recommends what I should be doing to keep my hair healthy and in good conditon. The Aveda products, both for hair and skin, are all natural and feel wonderful. If you want great service in a soothing and professional environment, go to Kathy's salon. She will work miracles for you. read more

Absolutely love it here! Kathy is amazing at what she does. You can tell she cares about all of her clients, and I always come out of the salon feeling like I've caught up with a friend. She has been doing my color for over a year now and is excellent at creating a natural color that still looks great even when I don't touch up for 6-8 months. I also love how she cuts my hair. She takes her time and really listens to what I want. I couldn't be happier! As a bonus, the salon is super reasonably priced! read more

Lovely Aveda salon & Brenda did a spectacular job on my 9 months COVID hair with color & cut. I highly recommend !

Thank you to Kathy for doing such an awesome job coloring and cutting my hair. This was my first time at this salon and I chose it because I love Aveda and all of her positive reviews. She is definitely a color expert. I am thrilled with my color! As for the cut, I asked for a blunt cut and she gave me a blunt cut. For some reason stylists always want to layer and texturize my hair, which makes it stick out all over. The real test though, is when you wash it and style it yourself. I am happy to report my hair is super easy to manage. You rock Kathy! read more

Mane Teasers is a little gem! This has been my go-to salon since I started working in the LA area four years ago. The ladies in this salon are wonderful, down-to-earth people, who just happen to do great things with hair!!! I'm very picky about my hair, and my color is tough to achieve, but Kathy always gets it right. Brenda is also fantastic - her clients are always all smiles! Another bonus is that these ladies care about their clients. They genuinely want you to be happy, with your hair, and with your life! When they ask how you are, they really want to know. This is a rare find in our all-about-me world. I don't make a habit of countering other reviews, but I have to mention the remarks made by Sam W., especially the odd reference to Tabatha's Salon Takeover and the dust(???). I'm an operating room nurse, so naturally, the first thing I look for in a salon is cleanliness. This salon is as clean as they come. As for the handwritten receipts, not having electronics in the shop really helps with the quaint, zen vibe. Who doesn't like to see a personal touch these days? The one part that does make sense to me is the joking about giving back change in singles. These ladies are hilarious, and then some! If you don't like to laugh and have a good time with great gals, this isn't the place for you. But if you want a great little salon with talented, caring, funny people, you'll love it here. I know I do!!! read more

Kathy has done my hair since the mid '80's. Lengths from mid back to a super short style with a bout of chemo in between. I have tough hair to deal with. Curly, frizzy with a mind of it's own. She does a fantastic job, is accommodating as she can be in every way. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Brenda is pretty great, too. read more
