Mandira opened up a couple months ago and I was one of the first guests. It is amazing. They said there's a similar store in New York City but I have never seen one in the US. I love it so much that I even dreamed about opening up my own in the US. Their yogurt is delicious, but their Simits are amazing. I highly recommend the smoked salmon, cucumber, and labneh simit. I have become a regular here. I even buy tubs of yogurt from here. I wish they would do frozen yogurt.
FOOD: The above says it all. Incredible, unique, fresh, healthy but indulgent, and good for any meal, snack, or even dessert. I used the plain yogurt to make a berry tart. I mixed it with a little bit of simple syrup to make it a little sweeter, put it in a homemade gluten-free crust and topped it with an assortment of berries - delicious. I've has the savory and sweet yogurt bowls and each type of simit sandwich. Salmon simit is my favorite by far and the cucumber yogurt bowl is a delicious savory combination.
DRINKS: they have coffee, water, and juice. I don't drink coffee, but my friends that had it said it was good but not the most amazing coffee they've ever had. I think it is Turkish style coffee.
ATMOSPHERE: There isn't a lot of seating space by design but always room. If you do sit down there's an extra charge for your food. The staff are really nice so it could be worth it especially if it's not nice outside. If it's a nice day, take it to go and go sit by a park bench to people watch or to one of the many nearby parks to have a picnic. I've done both. The shop is clean, modern, and tasteful.
SERVICE: they have always been nice, quick, and effective. No tableside service. read more
