Update: Change of star from 3 to 2. Looked closer at my toes today. Wondered if close to a week had chipped my toe nail polish. Nope. Zoomed in on my posted pics shoes it was like that... I'm not sure how I feel about my appt today. I wanted a regular manicure (no color but removal of gel polish) and regular pedicure. My technician didn't soak off the polish but rather used a drill. On my left hand it's all gone, but on the right there's still the gel base coat. Maybe I'm thinking manicures are different, but skin and hang nails around my nails were not cut/clipped. She almost forgot to do the cuticles in my left hand. Right hand she used a drill, left hand I had to ask for it to be done and she used cuticle clippers. read more

I hate to say something bad about a salon that I've had such positive hair experiences with, but I wanted to warn people not to get a manicure here. I ended up in pain, as the technician kept using the grinding tool and wearing away my natural nail. All I asked for was a fill and polish and the technician said she didn't know how to do it and the supervisor insisted that she did. I kept questioning her technique as she was soaking my acrylics in acetone and grinding away instead of filling. she kept reassuring me but eventually I couldn't take the discomfort any more and had to walk out in the middle of the manicure. It's so nice to get out and do something normal during the pandemic. I had my first gel manicure in 6 months today behind the plexi glass with their front door wide open letting in the fresh air at Mancini de Paris and was happier than I could have imagined that I did. It felt really safe, to me and I had a great conversation with the lovely manicurist, Carmen who has been doing nails for 14 years. Carmen did a great job - a very gentle manicure with a great hand massage and used a nice smelling lotion! She also was so kind and walked with me to the sink to do a hand scrub there as well. I got to know Carmen and it was more than small talk - a genuine and heartfelt conversation. I feel so great today and spirits lifted, thanks for Carmen not only for the great mani, but the human connection and warmth with it. I look forward to going back. Thank you! read more

I have had the pleasure over the past few months of working with Zina for my beauty needs. I had been nervous after my previous esthetician left the company, and to my surprise this lovely diamond of a person named Zina came along and had been a gift ever since! I started coming to her for just my eyebrows, and once I expressed some insecurities I had about my facial hair - she genuinely responded with a caring plan to help me correct what I wanted corrected! Her technique is so calm and pain free that I actually ENJOY my waxes. She is also a very safe place for the LGBTQIA+ community, as she treats everyone like her own family! I got a manicure here last week and while my nails look great, it was not a very pleasant experience. I was a walk-in, and everyone just kind of stared at me when I came in, it was awkward. Someone who was cutting hair just said "sign in" and so I wrote down my name and the services I was looking for, a manicure and eyebrow wax. The place looked pretty empty but I could hear men speaking VERY loudly in Russian from somewhere in the back. The girl that finally came out to help me just pointed to the wall of nailpolish which I guess meant to pick a color. She seemed irritated that I didn't want the gel polish. She even said "You don't want gel?" There was no offer of a drink (even though there was a whole table of coffee, tea and wine- it might be for more important people? Decorative? The was no music or anything playing, but instead I listened to the Russian men yelling at each other for 30 min, so that was fun. I don't think my nail tech spoke two words to me. Not even a "hi my name is..." not a peep unless it was to speak in another language to one of her friends. When she was done, she handed me a yellow post it note with my price on it. No "thank you" or "have a nice day" or anything- she literally got up and walked away. When my nails finished drying I thought they would take me somewhere to do the eyebrow wax, but there was nobody to be found. I kinda did a 'helloooo??' up towards the front and someone appeared. At that point I just paid for my overpriced manicure and left since nobody seemed available to come out from the back to do my eyebrows. The actual service was fine- she did a good job... but you go to a nicer "spa" type place because you want to be pampered. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be that type of place. read more

first time here. i think i have never gotten worse nail set than this. i cried at home. went back there the next day because gel polish came off from acrylic nails after 15 hours ! i have never seen such an ugly, sloppy and hurry job. same nail tech refused to fix it. they put me with another nail girl which was sweet, she re did gel polish.. well 2 days after it started peeling .. original nail tech don is a "no-no" , she was speaking rude , i was shocked the way she cut me off when i said i like my nails thicker. rushing to get next client, bad sanitation, extremely low quality work. well..2 days later i am looking for a new nail salon to redo my horrible acrylic set from mancini de paris. read more

Take a look at my beautiful eyebrows, they did not look like this a few years ago and I have to give credit to my girl Mona Qudah who works at Mancini de Paris in Arlington Virginia. The establishment is COVID-19 compliant. So you don't have to worry about not getting amazing customer service. That's a given.I went through a transformation and Mona took me on as a client after I've had a few flubs of people trying to do my eyebrows properly. Its been 5 yrs and I've never been disappointed . My eyebrows used to be short on one side long on the other and she takes precision and care of not only my eyebrows but my face too. She does magic with her facials and as you can see in this photo she made me look like a supermodel. I went to get a pedicure and manicure and while the women was doing my pedicure she cut my toe. This has happened before however she did not use any sanitary protocols including attempting to paint with clear polish as my toe is bleeding- proceeds to dip the polish brush in an paint the rest. I had to stop her because one the brush is now contaminated with my blood - she did not understand that this is how diseases spread. Thankfully she threw the bottle away after explaining to her she can't use this on me or another person. This is the absolute worst experience and do not recommend this disease ridden place. read more

Today was the second time I have been to Mancini to get my hair cut. He always does a wonderful job! I just show him what I am looking for and he's great at recreating styles. It was everything I wanted. My boyfriend also came to get his haircut and it's the best style I have seen on him (and that's saying something as we have been together for 6 years!). He also loves it. They are incredibly mindful about masks, and COVID measures, but it still felt like I was able to relax, which is hard to do given these crazy times. We will definitely come back here and recommend!! I recently was told about this location. It's clean and well organized and the employees all wear nice black wrap shirts which are a nice touch. My nail tech was Fatimah (sp?). She was really nice and engaged me in small talk but I was trying to catch up on grad school messages so I was paying more attention to my phone than our conversation. I liked that Mancini's is so close to my house; I can walk there in like 3 minutes. But just because it's convenient doesn't mean I'm going back, here's why: I spent $70 (before the tip) for a gel Mani ($35) and pedi ($35). I loved the nail colors I chose but honestly I wasn't over the moon with the finished product. Not even 24 hours after my service the gel started to peel. Not on one finger but on three! That's never happened to me before. I called immediately to see if they could fit me in to fix them. I was told it would not be a problem so I was set to get my nails fixed the following day. On that alone I would have given them 3 stars. When I arrived for my appointment I stood around while they discussed which nail tech would fix my nails. I clearly didn't want Fatimah to do it again. So it was FINALLY decided that Young would fix them. I inferred from their conversation that this happens on more than a few occasions because Young complained to the manager that she was always "picked to fix nails" and she wanted to "know why". I just wanted my nails fixed and they should have had someone set for me when I made the appointment the previous day. Mentally I was giving this place 2 stars. Fatimah came to Young's table to see what was going on with my nails and had the nerve to have an attitude (insert my eye roll). She and Young came to an agreement where she would fix Young's client's nails the next time they needed fixing (..why does this happen so much?!...). Young was bothered which made her rougher with my hands than I'm sure she normally would be. I immediately thought I was gunna go off when she started ripping the gel coat off of my nails. It hurt! I mentioned it but she said it was okay because the acetone would take longer. After the third rip I demanded she use the acetone. Aside from her scraping the gel off of my nails very roughly (I literally let out a painful yelp, at which point she calmed down) she did a good job fixing the gel set. I'm crossing this location off of my list! There are too many other nail salons in the area for me to want to go back there. Final score: 1 star. read more

This is definitely a step up from the usual neighborhood salon! The Good: + The aesthetic is warm and inviting + My technician was very caring and meticulous in cutting my nails and applying polish. At nail salons I often feel like I am a piece of cattle just being herded along but I was really impressed by how much details she put into the job. + If you go in before 3 pm, Mondays - Thursdays they offer a slight discount on mani and pedis. The OK: + As someone who is formerly immuno-supressed, I'm very picky about cleanliness. While everything seemed clean to the naked eye, I still think that they could have taken additional measures to up their game such as lined tubs or full sanitation after each tubs. + I was scheduled for a waxing after my nails were done but the staff pretty much forgot me after my nails were done. I finally got up to ask about it and the front desk seemed a bit confused. By then I had already been waiting for a long time so I just cancelled my appointment. + While I was getting my nails painted, I noticed that all of the other technicians and hairdressers were all talking loudly on their phones which did not lead to a very relaxed atmosphere as a whole. + Nail polish selection is rather limited read more

When he left me to re-dress I noticed several disturbing stains (streak marks?!) and short dark hairs (I'm blonde!) on the top side of the sheet that had been covering me - they hadn't been cleaned for my massage! Yay! I finally found my neighborhood nail salon. I'm sad it took me so long to try Mancini de Paris. The décor is modern and upscale and pricing is slightly higher than other nail salons, but not what I was expecting and not so out-of-range that I would not return ($15 for a manicure; $40 for full arm wax; $42 for mani/pedi). For nails, my favorite tech is Young. I've had another one, but was not pleased, so I will be making appointments with Young. Nail colors are limited, but they offer the most recent OPI/Essie shades. Russo is great at waxing. She was very thorough and quick, plus she's kind and funny. In addition to nails and waxing, hair, skin, and body services are offered (it's a full-service salon), but I've not yet tried them. The receptionist is quite friendly. The waiting area is small--only a few chairs. They open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays and have a website, which is great. If you are looking for nails and waxing on the Pike, definitely check out Mancini de Paris. read more

It has been my go-to salon for about a year. They have treated my tresses which great care. My hair is natural curly and extremely dry, however despite and after the chemical greatments, my hair feels is soft and looks healthy. Mancini is hands down the best colorist in town. For a blow dry: Mancini, Anthony and the new guy are always making me feel beautiful. The spa specialist does a great job with eyebrow design, and my nails are always nicely done by Yung or Carmen. Everyone at the salon has treated me like family, I go back every two weeks for gel manicures, blow dry and color, style, brows etc. I've referred several friends and they all come back for the experience. read more

Plain and simple- Mancini is one of two salons that uses the Aveda Color Line. The other is Casals in Clarendon which is usually ranked within the top 3 salons on Yelp. Mancini is located within a shopping center that houses a Giant, Hair Cuttery, and a plethora of other restaurants. There is a private parking garage, be prepared to spend $2-4. MDP also usually has decent bandwidth and can take same day appointments which is nice. I see Mancini (the owner) for root touch up + foil lights. Sometimes I get a haircut, but with long hair its pretty easy. For the price of a base lighten + partial highlights and a haircut, I'm looking at $240 including tip. The salon looks fantastic but it's definitely a step below in terms of service and ambiance. Many of the stylists children are in the shop, doing homework and just hanging out until their mother is done for the day. There seems to be friends or extra people as well, very social atmosphere. I don't mind but it gets a little distracting, definitely not relaxing. It's probably time for me to start looking for another salon. It's really not a place that has me jumping to return, but its convenient, does the job and uses the color line I like. If you choose to patron this salon, definitely start small, try out different stylists and test the waters. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a Wednesday and when I arrived it seemed oddly quiet for a business that was open. Eventually, Mancini arrived and took me back. I mentioned that I had been having a difficult time getting stylists to listen to what I wanted. As I was telling him how I wanted it cut, he interrupted me and said, we can talk about the cut later. Let's just get the highlights started. I was instantly frustrated. Just another stylist who wasn't listening to how I wanted my hair done. Fast forward...highlights have processed and we are back at the rinsing station. He removes the foils, washes and conditions and maybe put toner on for a second. He didn't tone or blend the highlights at all. We get back to the chair and again I am telling him how I want it cut. I pull out a picture, etc. He cuts it into a style nothing like we have discussed. I put my glasses on so he can show me the back and I immediately notice the horrible lines from the highlights. He didn't got to my scalp. There are literal horizontal lines on my head. I tell him I don't like that and he tells me he will fix it and then proceeds to direct me to look at the back of my hair. I showed him the picture again and tell him it's not what we talked about. Now he is obviously frustrated so he just starts cutting. My hair is now much shorter than I had asked and I have lines in my head. He finished cutting and never revisited the awful highlight job. By this time, I just needed to get out of there. I didn't bring up the highlights again because I honestly didn't think he was capable of correcting it. I paid $185 for a cut and highlights I assume because Mancini charges more than the other stylists. It wasn't worth it and unfortunately, I will not return or do not recommend this salon. read more

I come to see Russo for waxing services. I found Russo after a very bad experience at a different place. I have a scar on one of my eyebrows which makes the natural shape of my eyebrow distorted. Russo does such a good job shaping them and making sure they both look the same and she has never commented on my scar, which I truly appreciate. I have been seeing Russo for at least 7 years and she is the only one I trust to wax my eyebrows. read more

I just moved into the apartments above Mancini De Paris and was excited to have a convenient place to get my hair highlighted, which I do every 10 weeks as blonde. I had an okay experience service-wise but when I went to pay, I was charged an extra $40 than I was told when I walked in because the stylist blow dried my hair. I was never informed that the color service did not include blow drying, and I never consented to the additional service. When I checked out, I asked to speak with the manager Mancini but he was with a client. I paid, and then proceeded to call for the next three days in a row post-appointment, leaving three messages with my phone number to speak with Mancini about the charge.
