We bought a century-old rowhome in D.C. and didn't realize we also inherited a family of squirrels that ferociously dug into our front porch beam. We've gotten several quotes in the past two years where roofers and siding companies chalked it up as "this is going to cost you a lot of money and it's just not worth it." We finally decided to prioritize fixing this problem and got three quotes. I got two other quotes, and one was really expensive (due to different material cost) and the second one was comparatively the same. I trusted David's expertise because he was referred by my friend who highly recommended him (David fixed my friend's leaky roof issue nearby); and David didn't give me a run-around answer with the problem I had raised. When I finally decided to start on the project, David's team was ready to go. I wanted David to fix three big areas: 1) trimboard/beam; 2) gutter; and 3) front porch ceiling. David's team took photos throughout the process, identified that the front porch trim board didn't actually have a beam inside, so the squirrels lived in this hollow space filled with mulch and tree branches. They quickly gave me an estimate of the additional cost to add a beam and worked extremely hard to fixing the front porch roof area. They were done within a day and a half. I'm super pleased with David's craftsmanship. David went above and beyond my expectations, fixing a beautiful antique crown moulding that the squirrels chewed up, and making it look like new. I am so relieved to know this problem is now fixed and the squirrels have no way of getting back into the roof. Everything is sealed and properly done. Please protect David at all cost. They recently (May 2024) worked with me to extend the life of my original roof until I was ready to have a new one installed. The original roof was over 20 years old, but holding up. They presented options to help extend its life a few more years so I could prepare for its eventual replacement. Once I was ready they moved in and accomplished the process in one day. Prior to that we had discussions about the the project as a whole, amount of time required, where the debris would be placed and picked up, my options for the materials/colors, etc. Boyd Construction Company has worked on my house before, suggesting I wash and REPAINT my aluminum siding rather than REPLACE it. VERY pleased about that. (And "wash & repaint" was less expensive!) For all of my projects they have provided options to consider. He notified me that there was moss on the roof, but that it was spotty. He removed the moss, sprayed the area to prevent the moss from returning any time soon. He explained the reason for the moss, which was only on the front side of the roof, was due to that side of the roof being closest to the surroundings trees, which prevented it from getting much sun. The quality of his work was exceptional and the cost to have it done, was minimal. Keith was honest and provided great quality service. I had to listen to one particular drip so long that it gave me nightmares. I even had a basement flood that cost me $15,000 because of the gutters being messed up. But every single person I hired insisted they were correctly cleaned and aligned and that I was asking for too much. For $150 The Gutter Guys ACTUALLY cleaned and aligned the gutters PROPERLY. They threw in new screws to hold the downspouts together and re-secured them to the exterior walls. I have been telling everyone to hire these guys. I didn't even have to be home when they did their thing. I just left a check taped to my front door.
