Manchester Music keeps rental process extremely simply. My two boys play violin and bass. We rent both instruments through Manchester Music. It's a family owned shop. The owner is super knowledgeable. We were there for no more than 20 minutes to pick up the instrument with case, stands, rosin etc. When we returned the bass, my son lost the rosin. The owner didn't even charge us and the returning took me no more than 2 minutes -literary dropping off the instrument then leave. Will recommend Manchester Music to all of our friends. read more

We love Manchester Music. We have three boys, and have always rented from them- violin, viola, and cello. Family owned and operated- and locally owned, they've always been so kind to our kids. They're extremely knowledgeable, very helpful in getting them sized and making sure we have any additional items like rosin, cloths, rock stops, anything needed before we have to ask. They even have the school required music sheet books. We just had to move our middle son up in size in the cello, and got us taken care of very quickly. Any time we need our instruments tuned or adjusted, they're always super fast and accessible. Because they're local and know all of the teachers teaching music in Parkway and Rockwood, they're up to speed on whatever the schools are doing. Shopping for a rental for school orchestra. This is not your typical, big box music store. If you're wanting a brand new, cookie cutter violin, this probably isn't your place. I loved the quaint feel of the shop. The employees are warm and friendly. Their instruments have character. We're talking some vintage violins from the 1600s. They weren't hanging all perfectly uniform and shiny. Some were newer, some were old, some were shiny, and some were well loved. I stopped in to Manchester Music for a Viola rental for my child's music class. The owner was very helpful and took time to explain their rental program and policies. Their price was fair and the instrument was in good condition. The rental price included everything needed including a nice case, rosin, and a cleaning cloth. The store owner informed me that some music stores don't carry child size violas and instead rent out violins with viola strings. This of course doesn't sound as good and isn't what one would want their child to learn on. Not that we will have to worry about that because we plan to continue to rent from Manchester music. I did have to call in to change the card on file for my rental. It would be easier if I could manage that through an online portal but it wasn't that big of a deal. read more

We recently rented a 'cello for our son, who is 10 and learning to play. The rate was very fair and we were happy with the level of service. Last week, an overnight guest fell onto my upright bass and my son's 'cello. The bass damage wasn't too bad, but the 'cello was essentially destroyed as it had a major crack all the way through the top! The owner (Andrey?) replaced it with another one at no additional cost! I bought a bow from the shop a year ago and the screw broke so I took it in to get repaired. They worked on it while I was standing there (I was fully expecting to just leave it and come back later). He got it to work but not to the standard he liked. He said that he has had issues with that maker and was going to contact them. Instead of keeping my "Ok" bow he had me try out a different bow and then said, "let's trade it for this one. It's a better bow anyways." I was completely shocked that he would trade me bows and I asked to pay the difference and he said no. I was so grateful and surprised by this gesture.
