(Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!

A simple business with a few key products for landscaping…read more Mulch, decorative stone, and base materials like sand, stone dust, process, trap rock, and topsoil. That's pretty much the long and the short of it. I found the perfect match for the stone beds that came along with my new home, so I only needed a yard of the "2-inch Minus River Rock" they sell to do some patchwork. Check that - I probably needed a half a yard. At least 2/3 of what I bought is now sitting in a pile behind my shed. LOL, I guess you gotta learn the hard way sometimes. Anyway, it was $60 for the yard, $35 to dump it at my home. They were there in 30 minutes so I could get started quickly on my landscaping project. I know, I could have spent less renting a truck and just getting half a yard, but $100 was well worth the beautiful results. The only slight complaint is that the load was kinda dirty. Maybe I should have known this in advance - they were getting low on the product when I arrived, so it was almost inevitable that some dirt was going to come along with it. Still, we are talking about decorative stone here. I guess a few rainstorms will clean everything up... not a huge deal. Everyone is really nice. I even once got an unsolicited callback after they didn't pick up the phone. I was just asking about their hours, but a very thoughtful gesture nonetheless.

I met Humera and Jimmy, and they both definitely know what they're doing. Jimmy came to the house and took measurements so the custom cabinets could be cut right. Much like ordering windows, it takes a week or two to get them made, but this is reasonable given the logistical challenges. Great alternative to the industry giants like HD and Lowe's. Because the prices are competitve, and these people actually CARE! :)

OK, I admit, I procrastinate. I recently decided that I was not going to have time to seal up some…read moregrowing driveway cracks and seal coat my driveway myself and I didn't want to leave it until spring and have frost heaving. My wife called a number of seal coat contractors. The amazing thing is that one actually answered the phone. Although Jim was having lunch at the time, he said he would come my in a half hour and sure enough, he did. He took a look at my driveway, said he had some time between jobs and would take care of it the next day and for a great price! No deposit, only a handshake. He came by as promised, and made short order of it blowing off leaves and debris, sealing the cracks and doing an outstanding job with the seal coat! Well worth the price and a pleasure to work with! By the way, a week later and not one other contractor we called bothered to even respond. I am glad we caught Jim during lunch (I am not sure he was) and had him complete this project! I not only recommend him here, but am letting other family members know who to call for driveway cracks and seal coating.

My experience with this company has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. I hired them to sealcoat my driveway, and within less than a month, the asphalt started to deteriorate. It was clear that incredibly cheap and low-quality materials were used. The surface began to crack and flake almost immediately -- something that should never happen with a proper sealcoating job. I contacted Anselmo (the owner) multiple times -- at least 15 -- and every time he had a different excuse for not showing up to fix the issue. He promised to come back and make things right, but those were just empty words. It's obvious now that he had no intention of following through. This company does not stand behind its work, and in my experience, Anselmo is dishonest and unreliable. Don't fall for promises or a friendly attitude up front -- once he has your money, you're on your own. Please learn from my mistake. Protect your property and your wallet -- do not hire Anselmo's Sealcoating.
