We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

This B&B is located right in the heart of Harper's Ferry, giving walking access to stores, restaurants, and historic sights. Come for the railfanning, stay for the history…read more I first learned about Harpers Ferry, WV while sourcing stock footage for work. I came across the same clip in a rail safety ad, which made me look up directions to Harpers Ferry from DC. The historic park/town is served by the very MARC trains that pass outside my DC window each afternoon. You can describe Harpers Ferry as *deceptively* close because it's a 90 minute train ride, with planes flying into Dulles close enough to make out the airline. Looking for hotels there, Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast was the first that came up, with great reviews. Chris was very helpful and responsive via text and email. I booked the Top Room, which was $170 for a night including taxes. The quaint B&B has three accessible floors, as the family naturally lives onsite. The first floor is the main entrance with the common/dining areas, and the patio overlooking Maryland Heights and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers. The second floor has more rooms, one with a full balcony. And the third floor is the Top Room, with windows overlooking each side of the vintage building. If you Google pictures of Harpers Ferry, Stonehouse is in nearly all of the shots, since the balconies are front and center of the skyline. The town itself is like a real life snow globe. But the B&B, the litany of museums, eateries and shoppes around it, as well as the train station directly across the street make it an overall ideal place to stay, be it for hiking, or for something else: A love of trains is what brought me to Stonehouse, so take note that rail traffic can be heavy in certain times of the day. But the light rumbles also helped put me to sleep in the already soft, cozy bed. A container of water was provided, and while glasses should have been cleaned of dust first, it was still a really nice touch. The room also had playing cards, ear plugs, plenty books and a whole lounge chair. Checkin was a simple set of instructions at the door with my name on it, with checkout simply being your absence at the appropriate time. In my case, I only booked an overnight stay, getting in at 8pm and leaving around 6:30am, with checkout/checkin being the traditional 11am/4pm. While I didn't stay for complementary breakfast, I did catch a stellar sunrise between the mountains, as well as nature footage from the neighboring park. All of that to say, I definitely look to return to Stonehouse B&B later this year.

I chose to stay in the Chagall in the main inn. It was conveniently located right above the dining and reception area. The decor was cozy and I loved the 4 post bed frame and seating area. The apple cider though, that was to die for mmmm. Very fresh, sweet, and perfectly spiced. I forgot to ask if they had any to purchase, but I definitely would have bought some if they did. The inn had a nice seating area with benches and chairs in the grass. It was a great place to stargaze. We throughly enjoyed breakfast the next morning too. I loved the crabmeat in my quiche and the buttery croissants. Appreciated that they give you the option to dine downstairs or have breakfast delivers to your room. We loved it here. I have heard from many people that their tours and tastings are unbelievable. I cheat a little because I already have a freezer full of their beef and plenty of wine at home, but I think my wife will finally book us for a tour and tasting in the spring. I have never seen a more idyllic setting for a farm, it looks nothing like any of the farms I grew up working on. And for me, I think that is the best part about Ovoka - it is a farm that is unique but no different than many others in that their farm never sleeps, their farmers never truly get a vacation, they earn every penny they get, and unfortunately do not get all the pennies they deserve for the value they provide. Not just value in the sense of the quality of their amazing beef products, but the value they provide for preserving a farming tradition that was once all we had and has unfortunately dwindled, but remains the backbone of our country. This is where your food comes from, not Wegmans or Whole Foods. Before you visit, call to make sure the food truck is open for lunch so that you can take it inside and buy a bottle of wine to wash it down with.

The stables are absolutely beautiful, and getting to visit the horses added such a special, personal touch. And yes... I have to mention Cupcake --the sweetest pony who completely stole the show. The fire pits were another highlight. There's something about sitting by the fire, taking in the scenery, and just being present that felt grounding in the best way. If you're curious about pricing a little over $800 per night and that's in the off season. So be prepared to spend some money-- for a night or two, it's a fabulous experience. We had incredible service from the moment we walked up to the front door. The gentleman at the desk answered all our questions and told us about the car service that takes you to various place which is included in your stay, some were wineries and some were restaurants in town. We had marvelous service by Cayden while at the bar/restaurant. So gracious and so apologetic! We knew it was busy in there, but he made sure we were attended to! We spoiled ourselves with breakfast (my favorite space). The food was marvelous. We loved the pancakes and salmon platter. We split everything! Yet again, service was wonderful there too. The spa was gorgeous and incredibly relaxing for the mind body and soul! My friend took advantage of spa amenities. I think my favorite thing to do was sit on the heated stone lounge chair. The treatment room was beautiful. The massage chair could also be positioned in more of an upright position as well. Derek had some magical hands which helped ease a lot of tension I was carrying. He was also wonderful about checking in about pressure too. Some areas of my body can take more than others, he adjusted well to my needs. This is definitely a place to look at if you're up for spending some money. Your experience will be amazing!
