We came to Manana for a change of pace during our recent stay in Geneva. We had enjoyed a lot of excellent Swiss, French, and German food, but now we were craving some Mexican. That was all well and good, but apparently it's not all that easy to find an authentic Mexican restaurant in Geneva :-( All the food we ordered tasted like something that had been frozen in China then shipped to Switzerland and heated for serving in a microwave. Everything totally lacked any of the subtle flavors I've often enjoyed when eating in real Mexican restaurants. We've learned our lesson - next time we want a change of pace while dining in Geneva, perhaps we'll see about some Italian food. read more

Oh my lord ... This isn't Mexican, or Tex-Mex, or anything recognizable. Taco Bell is more authentic. Don't get me wrong -- I wasn't really expecting a lot -- after all, this is Europe. On top of that, this is Geneva Switzerland, which is not known for any sort of good food at fair prices. Even so, I was amazed how UN-Mexican this food was. I should have taken a clue when we walked by the kitchen and the ENTIRE staff was Middle Eastern. First the good news -- it tasted reasonably well. No complaints actually (except for the chips - but more on that later) Tortilla chips were not very good at all. I'm not even sure they had corn in them. Thickest chips I've ever had. Instead of bearing any sort of yellow color, they were brown. Not sure if they were over cooked, made from some brown European corn strain or just some fried pita quartered to look like chips. Bottom line -- avoid the chips. Yuck. Salsa isn't much better. Not sure what it was, actually. I asked for some 'hot sauce" on the side, so I could jazz the salsa up a bit and they brought out Jalapenos. I was actually impressed they had jalapenos! If you're looking for cheap eats in Geneva, you don't have a lot of choices. Sure, go to Manana. It's really not awful. Glad I went, but just DON'T EXPECT MEXICAN! read more

I'm always skeptical about eating at Mexican restaurants in Switzerland due to major previous disappointments. I was completely blown away by the food here. The Super nachos were delicious and tastier than any nachos I've had in Europe. The fajitas main dish which you share between 2 people was super tasty and not overly greasy. You're given authentic tortillas and ingredients to load up your fajitas with an array of flavors and colors for maximum flavor. Affordable prices and friendly, attentive service was the icing on the cake. read more

So coming from the Southeastern US where there an Authentic Mexican Resturant in nearly every shopping center, my baseline for Mexican food is pretty high. That said, while the tastes were a little different, this was a pretty good place, both for atmosphere and taste. Waitress was very nice and spoke almost better English than we do, a bonus for the US tourist. The only real negative, which is really more about Geneva in general, was the cost. What would have been a $10-12 entree in the States was about $35 here. But I will like come back in a future trip. read more

Definitely not as good Mexican food as one can find in the US (and of course Mexico!). Nonetheless, it is nice to sit outside and they have quite good drinks. Also, the prices are ok for Geneva, and we did enjoy the fajitas, plus the service was friendly. The appetizers were not great, but the main dish portions were quite substantial so in any case, it is ok but I"ve definitely had better Mexican. read more

Definitely not Tex-Mex as advertised but the food was ok. The salsa needs repair. Enchalidas de carne was good but should have been covered with their really good carne sauce. I would recommend to anyone homesick for nearly Tex-Mex. try the nachos and tortilla soup. Smile when you read that the enchalidas are Mexican style "spring rolls". read more

The 2 stars are for the Mexican ambiance that is a colorful tile dining table. The Mexican influence stops there. I would like to sponsor the owner of this restaurant to take a trip to Texas to experience the flavored and spice of real Mexican food. I have a tradition of eating Mexican food in every country I travel to. This is by far the absolute worst I've experienced. Qatar, Isreal, the UAE, and Iceland have beat out this place by a long shot. The food is so bland it could be served as baby food. No flavor, no spice and nothing appears to be fresh. Meat and beans are right out of a can. The salsa looks like sweet and sour sauce from McDonald's and has a hint of oregano. Maybe they also own Chinese and Italian restaurants and just use one sauce. Skip this place of you are accustomed to having real Mexican food. My expectations are low for experiencing this food around the world but this has set a new low. read more

Very international ambience. The fajitas were great! They have chicken, beef and shrimp. As a shrimp lover I was in heaven! The margaritas are also great! And try to make it to the bar downstairs before 'cactus hour' finishes at 9 because you'll get cheaper drinks! Also, the staff is very friendly and fun! read more

This restaurant was a very pleasing experience. I have to say that the staff were amazing and very fast. The sitting area was amazing and there is a cool bar also if you go down. The enchiladas were amazing and also the huevos rancheros. read more
