A lot of times things you won't find at Acme, Stop & Shop and Shoprite you WILL find at C-Town. There are a lot of imported Spanish specialty foods in the 'international' aisle. The chicken and meat are a bit hit or miss, I'd be careful on that front. ALWAYS, I can't stress this enough, ALWAYS check dates on anything you buy here. You can get bulk rice here too another big staple. Again, I'd stay away from the deli counter too. Great offering off croissants and other pan in the front. Things that are in demand in the hispanic community are generally fresh but it's a bit of roulette with other items so be warned.

We do go to Trader Joe's once a week up in Yorktown Heights but for everyday groceries this Rite Aid (in Croton-on-Hudson) have the best deals, its well-stocked and kept clean. The produce section is nice and often have local options. In the spring/summer they have great deals on potted veggies and herbs for your garden! They have products not found in the larger supermarkets, but you will pay an arm and a leg. The prices throughout the store are very high. They charge what they do because they can. It's an upscale area and people have money to spend. I have gotten into the habit of sometimes stopping there on my way home from an appointment in White Plains and buying a few things. The fish market is still great, and it's okay if some of staff doesn't speak English, but there needs to be a way of knowing that and getting assistance when needed.
