On multiple separate visits, I've gotten food that ended up being moldy or rancid, despite not being anywhere near the expiration date. They must not be storing items in appropriate temperatures, which is very dangerous. Items: jarred (shelf-stable!) baby food - when opened, mold inside. Frozen chicken nuggets- after already eating a serving, I noticed green mold on a nugget in the bag. Precut papaya that had gone bad. I hope they increase quality control and better monitor temperatures.

This is not a supermarket I go to for things like ice cream, dairy, cheese, frozen, some canned foods and some meat. In other areas though it really is the go to place... especially for fruits and vegetables! They have things that other supermarkets just don't stock because they service the hispanic community in Ossining. I have yet to see another market in the area that has the selection, freshness and prices that I can find at C-Town in fruits and vegetables. A lot of times things you won't find at Acme, Stop & Shop and Shoprite you WILL find at C-Town. There are a lot of imported Spanish specialty foods in the 'international' aisle. The chicken and meat are a bit hit or miss, I'd be careful on that front. ALWAYS, I can't stress this enough, ALWAYS check dates on anything you buy here. You can get bulk rice here too another big staple. Again, I'd stay away from the deli counter too. Great offering off croissants and other pan in the front. Things that are in demand in the hispanic community are generally fresh but it's a bit of roulette with other items so be warned.

What I do have an issue with, is constantly being charged double for items. it happens so much that if it's under a certain amount I won't bother going back for a refund. Tonight I was charged double for 2 items. Also, why do their cashiers always ask "would you like your receipt"? Yes, I would , you have a bad track record!

Either the people who make up these containers don't know how to tell if a cantaloupe is ripe or they don't check because they don't care. I'll never fall for that again. I like aspects of this store. There is a hot food bar with a usually great selection of dishes. But never choose the shrimp. It's totally over cooked, hard and rubbery. They have products not found in the larger supermarkets, but you will pay an arm and a leg. The prices throughout the store are very high. They charge what they do because they can. It's an upscale area and people have money to spend. I have gotten into the habit of sometimes stopping there on my way home from an appointment in White Plains and buying a few things. It's an expensive habit. But I would never consider it a place to purchase groceries on a regular basis.

And some of the flowers are wilted or broken. They put stuff on sale, but when I get home the Campari tomatoes are mushy and the bottom strawberries moldy, for example. The apples are often bruised. The fish market is still great, and it's okay if some of staff doesn't speak English, but there needs to be a way of knowing that and getting assistance when needed. Also, waiting at the deli or fish counter for someone to assist is sometimes too long.

I love having Apple Farm in my neighborhood!…read more Their prices are usually great for produce, breads and deli. The produce is usually very reasonably priced and the checkout is airways FAST. Occasionally the produce is on its last leg as far as freshness, but that is usually made up for by lowered prices, such as multicolored bell peppers sometimes as cheap as $0.59/lb. At a price like that you know to use it right away, and when it costs so llttle you don't mind throwing some away..... Their deli prices are always favorable, but the severe language barrier can get very frustrating when you're asking for something to be sliced thick, etc. This location is better then their Peekskill location, but it's way way way way too small!!!

It's weird to me how much better this location's food bar is compared to some of the other locations around. I can think of a few locations that need to pick up some lessons from the Chappaqua store! Oh, and their wraps are fantastic. You'd think that wrap recipes would be the same from store to store... but I guess not. Another thing I like about this Whole Foods is that they have an entire section of discounted items (those whose expiration dates are nearing). It's cool to be able to locate those items all in one place... and some of the deals are amazing. As for the staff, kudos to the hiring manager for assembling such a top-notch team. They are also super friendly and very knowledgeable... and if they don't know the answer, they quickly find other team members to assist. If you are in Chappaqua, stop by this WF! I'm confident you'll be pleased.
