Sad to write this, but times are hard and I don't want others to waste their money or worse - get ill. On multiple separate visits, I've gotten food that ended up being moldy or rancid, despite not being anywhere near the expiration date. They must not be storing items in appropriate temperatures, which is very dangerous. Items: jarred (shelf-stable!) baby food - when opened, mold inside. Frozen chicken nuggets- after already eating a serving, I noticed green mold on a nugget in the bag. Precut papaya that had gone bad. I hope they increase quality control and better monitor temperatures. read more

Alright... first things first, C-Town is exceptionally good to shop at in certain areas and entirely horrid in others. This is not a supermarket I go to for things like ice cream, dairy, cheese, frozen, some canned foods and some meat. In other areas though it really is the go to place... especially for fruits and vegetables! They have things that other supermarkets just don't stock because they service the hispanic community in Ossining. I have yet to see another market in the area that has the selection, freshness and prices that I can find at C-Town in fruits and vegetables. A lot of times things you won't find at Acme, Stop & Shop and Shoprite you WILL find at C-Town. There are a lot of imported Spanish specialty foods in the 'international' aisle. The chicken and meat are a bit hit or miss, I'd be careful on that front. ALWAYS, I can't stress this enough, ALWAYS check dates on anything you buy here. You can get bulk rice here too another big staple. Again, I'd stay away from the deli counter too. Great offering off croissants and other pan in the front. Things that are in demand in the hispanic community are generally fresh but it's a bit of roulette with other items so be warned. read more

I shopped at C-Town the other day and found out that the prices have jumped way to high from last year! Almost 200 dollars for 3 bags of food? 30 to 100% higher then last year on certain items. You would think they would give people a break in these tough times around the holiday season, but its all about the money! read more

If I could give a negative star I would choose it. I called to speak to someone regarding Western Union services at this location. After being on hold several minutes the person handling Western Union transactions picked up my call. She was abrupt and interrupted me before allowing me to finish asking my question. I called back and asked for a manager. Danny took the call and said he was the manager. His attitude was a hair better than the previous person I spoke with. I told him I wanted him to know about my experience in the previous call. His reply was "is there something I can help you with or is that it?" I hung up the phone after telling him I have no interest in any transaction at there store. read more

If you're familiar with C-Town 'supermarkets' in New York City, you are likely to have unfavorable associations with the name. (There, it's just one of numerous mediocre and undistinguished chains.) However, this location in Ossining is VERY different. It's a spacious and upscale environment with a great selection of products at attractive prices, offering a very pleasant shopping experience overall. Other reviewers mentioned issues with the parking lot, but I've never had a problem - either with congestion or finding a convenient parking spot. Maybe I'm just lucky, or I haven't been here during peak times of customer volume. read more

They try really hard here, they really do. They renovated and expanded the place several years ago and it was more upscale compared to the prior set up. They have always had the best selection of south american and latin foods. The problem here is that they just don't have to room to do it justice. The expansion cannibalized a chunk of the parking lot, and there is a cramped, crowded feeling, which is a shame because the prices here are the lowest in Ossining supermarkets. But the parking lot is always a battle, both in finding a space and dealing with the constant flow of cars stopping in the front to pick people up, blocking the way. The produce is the best, the meats aren't. I have learned to avoid the manager specials in the meats. You'll find lines at the deli. Overall, a fine inexpensive place if you are in no hurry. read more

I am a weekly customer at CTown Ossining, NY Today, Saturday, September 7 very disappointed with the Manager. I bought a big box of figs ($25.00) very expensive. I wanted to share them with my son. Anyway, when we started to eat them, they were with mildew & overripe, we threw them in the garbage. Because there were a few missing from the box, they would not refund the money. They should take all the other boxes & throw them out, they should not sell them to the people if they are spoiled with mildew. I hope I don't get sick from eating it & my son too. Staying in Millwood, NY and stopping by the A&P, I was shocked. How could such a beautiful and upscale community not have a decent supermarket? Then I was alerted to C-Town in Ossining. C-Town is a good, but not great supermarket. In both the Detroit and Chicago areas, this place would be considered a mediocre place due to its small size and limited fresh produce selection, but here in the Chappaqua/Millwood, its the best thing going. I cannot explain why this area, one of the most educated and affluent in the nation, does not have a great market. In the meantime, C-Town is the best there is. read more

If I could I would give this review -5 Stars. First of all the management is the worse, you call to complain and the guy says what do you want me to do? There you get cashiers always forget to give me my bags or my cash back. On top of it all the worse customer service. They don't even say good morning. The food is highly over priced and usually expired. You can see the fruit and vegetables getting moldy but still on the shelf's for sale. When the cashiers make a mistake it's the customers fault. I don't care I I live across the street I will never go to this place and never recommend. I rather take a cab and go to stop n shop or acme. read more

This is an excellent supermarket! They have a lot of Spanish speaking customers and staff here. Most of the staff does speak English but if they don't, they are helpful and will call over another staff member who does speak English. Produce is excellent! and they have a very wide range of fresh produce, some pretty exotic. I've found some hard to find produce here on a regular basis. Their Seafood is also excellent. I love their raw clams and buy their salmon steaks often. Meats are very good. Their prices on everyday popular grocery items is very good, lower than other supermarkets nearby. On the down side they do not sell any beer so you'll need to get that elsewhere. There is a $20. limit on cash back when using a debit card. But this independent market is really great. The owner is always there walking around watching; he runs a tight ship. I like that. It's old school, individual small business minded- not a "corporate" supermarket vibe. I know foodies and restauranteurs who only shop here. read more

This market is perfect for the community living within walking distance. They really should try to expand their customer base. No one working there speaks English except the manager. I mean NO english. You can't ask anyone for help. They have a nice selection of flowers so I asked them if they had fresh sunflowers in the back because the ones up front were a little old, and the clerk spent a good amount of time looking for sunflower seeds!!! read more

Sad story with this place. I work in Ossining and stopped in C town almost every single day for lunch because of its location next to Dunkin' Donuts. They have already packaged tuna salad, pasta salad and different cold food that I would buy just as a quick grab and go. I never had any problems with the cold food so I started to try the hot food. It turns out the hot food was tasty as well. Until one day I had lunch from there and must've had an uncooked egg or rotten egg in my lunch. About two hours after eating the food from C town I've vomited at my job . When I got home I've vomited again after only drinking water and ginger ale. I figured since I don't live in Ossining, I would stop by the next day and let them know in case it happened to anybody else. Friday morning I was vomiting again before finally deciding to call out of work. The weekend passes, and on Monday I returned to Ctown to speak with someone about what happened to me. Since they know me from coming in there almost every day, I figured at the very least I would get an apology. Apparently my expectations were wrong and that was anything but the case. I framed it in the nicest way possible, as to not be accusatory or demanding. I was met with defensiveness and hostility from the manager. Despite being acknowledged that I shop there almost every day, not once throughout our interaction was I offered an apology. There was not one attempt to write the situation and keep a loyal customer. Really bad customer service and not good for business!!!!! read more

I live 3 blocks away never have a problem with parking. The only bad thing about C-Town Is that they don't check there expiration dates on the boxes. Id had about 5 items in the past 6 months that where expired. I love there wide variety of fruits and vegetables put anything else you have to check the expiration dates on them. read more

i like this store. while it isnt perfect, as another post stated, " they really try". every-single-time, i havent been able to get an item i wanted, the manager had it the next day! very accommodating! the produce is better than *any* supermarket around. they have ready to eat organic, not hard, unripe. but that selection is limited. i havent eaten fish here, bc the area usually has a fishy-odor that makes my intuition twitch. i find myself here more than anywhere else; theres more unusual things to try, at a lower cost that the a&p up the road. try it ! read more
