A lot of the criticism Im reading is legit and should be rectified. My biggest annoyance is the lack of folks on the registers and the long lines, which dont seem to make any sense. I dont love that the manager with the Island accent cards me for beer every time I am in her line even though she has seen me literally hundreds of times. I'm in my early forties, and nobody could mistake me as under 21. The prices are high, and the sales are misleading. With this said, the gentleman and the ladies covering the deli case are super helpful and friendly. They have left the case on slower days to help me find a cheese or other product on the new gondolas with grace and kindness. I regret that I don't remember their names. The young people that cover the registers and stock the shelves have literally been kind, friendly and helpful every single time I have been there. Managers Angela, Brianna and (I think her name is spelled) Aliyaa have likewise been friendly and helpful. They are also patient when I try to be funny, which is a plus for me. Max in the produce department and my 7 year old have struck up a friendship based on a mutual appreciation for apples. Good guy. Acme used to give gift cards for employees who got a shot out from customers, and my wife and I put in a good word for employees on two occasions. I dont think they do this any longer, but if they did I would send in the little surveys for literally a dozen checkout folks and people who stock the shelves. So yeah, you take the good with the bad here, but the location is convenient and there are a lot of good people who work here. I'll most likely stop by tomorrow to pick up something I forgot today. read more

Do not order produce delivered from Acme on Instacart. Their produce is bad, and the customer service is lacking. At least half of their selection is rotten or expired. Upon receiving very rotten dill, scallions and an incorrect package of a houseware good, we drove to Acme within a half hour of the sale to exchange, with receipt in hand. I was told I would have to take it up with Instacart, I was not able to return or make any exchange, not even the household item, which was shelf-stable and definitely eligible for a return/exchange with my receipt. It is understandable that the Instacart shopper bears some responsibility, but the produce selection should never have been that spoiled in the first place. The head customer service agent was unnecessarily curt and unhelpful. Two weeks ago, I ran in to pick up chicken. Right before I checked out, I noticed that the package was expired for over a week. I think this store has made some nice changes over the past year however today I'm in the seafood department and there are dead lobsters floating in the tank and upside down on the bottom! How could the person working the department not notice? Doesn't give me much confidence in the seafood?!! I have been familiar with the ACME brand since the 1980s, when I attended school in Philadelphia where Acme markets are prevalent. I had high hopes that when they replaced A & P that this would be a better grocery experience. It isn't. Simply put, it is clear from management to the counter workers that they give ZERO FUCKS about anyone being satisfied buying food there. ZERO. Today, against my better judgement, I went to buy the ingredients for a Sunday beef stew. Beef stew. Not some exotic culinary ambition. Stew. Here's what you get: 1. Shitty stock. Empty meat shelves at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. 2. Staff that shrugs their shoulders when you ask them anything. They. Don't. Care. 3. A nice long wait to check out because there is clearly some policy that you cannot have more than 2-3 registers open at the same time out of 7. 4. On a rainy day, firewood getting soaked, 3 feet from where it would be dry if someone moved it to, you know, KEEP THE FUCKING WOOD DRY. I HATE THIS PLACE. I thought running in to buy 6-7 items would be no big deal, but when you suck at being a grocery store, even the simplest trip is frustrating. I cannot wait for Wegmans to come to Westchester and eat this miserable store's lunch. read more

I've never shopped at a worse super market until i went to ACME. The produce sucks, the seafood dept sucks, the deli meats and Cheese suck, and the prices are threw the roof and they never have anything on sale, or if it is on sale, it still sucks. Idk how a place like this can stay in business? If i could give this place a 0 Star, i would. Absolutely the worst place to shop, and alot of their items are either expired, from Mexico or China, and you can barely read it. The seafood i got sick on, and the Ribeye steak was absolutely the worst steak i ever had, about half was all fat and gristle. It definitely was not a Ribeye steak, I've had better sirlion steaks. Took me about 20 minutes just to cut it up cause it was like cutting shoe leather. read more

Terrible grocery store. The staff is always so unhappy and can't tell you where anything is located. The only pleasant employee is the guy that rounds up the carts. Unless you're looking for beer, they probably don't have what you're looking for. read more

Awful in almost everything. Produce is sad. Poultry and meats are expired and they are left out to spoil. Twice the smell was sickening when we brought them home and opened them. Dairy especially ice cream is left out and refreezes. There are refrigerator problems. Even the few nice people that used to work there have left. Don't take a chance shopping there. You cannot find everything you are looking for. They do not stock their shelves on regular basis. Now, during the pandemic no hygiene, no disinfectant. No employee at meat counter. If you ring the bell an employee comes out but they refuse to accommodate your request. read more

This is the WORST Acme/supermarket!! There are expired groceries in the shelf. Be careful when you shop here!! Most recently, I purchased cranberry juice, yogurt and French onion dip that were expired. I try to check expiration dates as I shop but seriously, why are they even on the shelf! Secondly, I had a return today and customer service said it was ACME policy to not do returns until 9:00am. It was 8:49am. I asked why, and she said this is just the way it is. It makes no sense. If the store is open, it should be open for every service. When I proceeded to wait at the counter, the lady at customer service sighed and said she would do the return just this once but next time know that returns cannot be done until 9:00am. ACME you need to re-examine your policies!! This was it--I am not spending a single cent more at this terrible grocery store. I was going for convenience but there are many others I can choose to spend my money at than this terrible place! Goodbye ACME! read more

I see almost no difference between this place and its predecessor, A&P. Its prices and selection are no better, its produce is still "hit or miss", and the staff is strange and morose. Somehow, no matter how empty the store is, there's always a line at checkout. I hate Slop & Shop in Ossining as much as the next (lower middle class) guy, but this place is only marginally better. read more

I am disabled. It is difficult for me, to get around, therefore, I don't drive. I'm obliged to use taxi cabs. I was in the store at 8:10am, this morning. I had two items to exchange for credit. After waiting for five minutes, to be recognized, the clerk, came out, and in a very surly tone of voice said, 'Courtesy counter opens at 9am.' She could, clearly, see that I was disabled, it would not hurt her, to take care of me. It would've taken all of three or four minutes. I had to find a place, outside, and wait. That clerk must have felt quite proud of herself, for treating me, in such a manner. This is not the first time, that I've been the subject of rude behavior by these clerks at the courtesy counter. read more

It is an awful service. The worst I have ever experienced. The cashiers are "not" allowed to bag groceries because they are trying to prevent the spread of COVID. This is ineffectual because the Cashiers have already touched the purchases. This is preventing nothing except the customer being given good service. I've never returned meat before but have returned meat here twice! Every Time I've gotten meat here it's putrid. This place should be bulldozed. A friend of mine who works in the fish department has urged me and all his loved ones never to buy his own products sad sad story. The butcher department also looks grimy. read more

It is not just the lack of quality but the management acts like you are bothering them when you talk to them. Attitude for MILES. When a manager (largish woman blond hair) couldn't get someone to answer her page, she slammed down a book in front of waiting customers, said, "I'm over it!" and stormed off...leaving us all standing there. She NEVER came back. Some of the cashiers are very nice so I won't complain about them and the store clerks are somewhat nicer than Ossining Stop & Shop, but the management makes it very clear that customers are an irritant. read more

The selection is pretty good and I can usually find what I need in a pinch. My problem with this location is there is no fast checkout for people with just s few items and there is no self check out. I'm usually on the go so it's tough when there's only two lanes open and I need to get back to work. If they can resolve this issue I think this operation would be a neighborhood gem. read more

Although this super market is generally overpriced (produce is literally double prices of other super markets in the area) I would drop by since it is on the way home or take advantage of weekly deals. ACME in Briarcliff is generally the last place I choose to shop. After my encounter this morning I am reaffirmed in my decision. Last night I purchased a rib roast and cans of soda using coupons. I noticed later that the coupons were actually not scanned or applied and I ended up paying $60 more than expected. This is a simple mistake and I am not blaming the cashier since it appears that what was supposed to ring up as a roast actually rings up as rib eye steaks (problem is with the label on the roast). When I came in to ACME with the receipt this morning the supervisor helping me was incredibly rude and unprofessional. When I had to explain the situation for the second time I got comments like "I can see it on the receipt thanks" with as much attitude and disdain as she could muster. Other times she spoke to me like I was a child or made underhanded comments meant to insult me. I'm telling you this place is not only overpriced but staff are downright unprofessional, incompetent and rude. I will never shop at this ACME again! read more

I wish I could give less than one star, to be honest. The prices really aren't good (mark ups are usually 2-3$ more than other grocery stores), not nearly enough cashiers, and incredibly long lines. Every time I've stopped by during "peak" hours, between 6 and 8pm during the week, there have been two registers open AT MOST, and lines 8+ people deep with no signs of budging. I've tried to purchase groceries there twice and have left both times. Not bad otherwise, they just really really need to do something about the lines/lack of cashiers. read more
