I had the day off and we decided to venture out looking for some Christmas gifts. Really cute place. Old and nostalgic and they carry a lot of things. There are about 18 different vendors. If you want Vinyl, this is the place to go. I am not a vinyl person, but our friend is and this trip out here was to him. Found some great albums and took a stroll down memory lane with a lot of the old items on display. The two women working there are lovely and so helpful. There is an entire room full of vinyl. I think it's called the fault and then there are also records through out. Great store and a great find!! Be sure to stop in.

I went home with a vintage heart locket that was worth the price and my new staple piece I wear every day! I usually find that vintage stores can really increase pricing just for the allure of vintage items but I found most things to be reasonably priced. They have such a wide variety of items that I could spend hours looking around. It's really a hidden gem. One thing to note is that there is a large collection of racist caricatures/black face dolls and figurines. It's pretty uncomfortable to look at. After another reviewer pointed it out, it reminded me to include that in my review. I don't think they should be included in the selection, regardless of its appeal for "collectors."

The other stores seem over-priced and stuffy, but The Loft is much more down-to-earth, and has a more eclectic aesthetic. The guy who owns the store salvaged an old Midwestern barn, and the whole store has been renovated with the materials, giving it a rustic, homey atmosphere, and a TOTALLY different vibe than the other stores around town. We recently bought a quaint ice-cream-parlor set for our front porch, and felt like we walked away with an awesome deal. The set was in great shape, and we were able to negotiate down about 10%, which made us not only love our furniture even more, it made us love the people at The Loft even more. What they lack in attitude and pretention they make up for in style. The basement is the real gem, with rooms filled with everything from old dishes + knick-knacks to dining sets + beautiful old wood furniture. I'd say the best part about this store is the people who work there, who aren't afraid to smile and chat and answer questions patiently (we can be sllooowww decision-makers!). The assorment of styles here is impressive, and is fairly evenly dispersed across the last 10-15 decades. There are some precious old children's books + dressers alongside bright + bold vinyl couches, like Scarlett O'Hara falling through the rabbit hole and ending up in Austin Powers' apartment - it would make you a basket case in your own home, but, in the store, it somehow makes perfect sense. This is one place I feel simply lovely about patronizing. It isn't an overwhelmingly large + cluttered space, and, if nothing else, you'll get to wander around in the remains of an old barn right in the middle of our little Minneapolis-town.

Don't let the small size from the outside fool you. This may not be the biggest antique store but they know how to pack some value in a smaller place. If a high end antique store on Royal St. in New Orleans or Village Saint Paul in Paris had a baby with the best thrift store in Brooklyn, Antiques White Bear would be it. Great finds with just enough digging, reasonable prices, and workers who care enough to help out, but smart enough to let you get lost in their treasures.

I went on a road trip with my dad from Wisconsin to Minnesota. Stopped off in downtown Hopkins to hit a few antique malls- The first was Hopkins Antique Mall. Overall the store was pretty good with a decent selection of many items. I eventually found a record I wanted to buy and proceeded to the checkout area up front. I was met with an elderly woman with a cocky attitude. The record I wanted to buy did not have a traditional tag with a price on it, the seller had written the price with pencil on the label of the record which was fine. I proceeded to show and explain to this elderly woman about the written price but she grabs the record from me and pulls the vinyl out of its jacket with no care at all and lays it down on the counter claiming "I know what I am doing, I do this a lot". The vinyl was still hanging out of its jacket as she's saying this and it was just waiting to get scratched. I am pretty sure her name is Lynda or Linda - very pushy ,demanding. If you want to deal with a know it all elderly woman when you check out ,then this is your place to shop.
