This record store is my favorite local spot; it's got a huge selection of new & used records, all at prices that feel reasonable. They always have a record spinning, along with a large stage area. The staff are always really kind & helpful, welcoming everyone as they come in. We try to do all of our record shopping here & can't recommend it enough! read more

Barely Bros Records - Vinyl Records Near Me - Saint Paul, Minnesota

I have my iTunes and stream things via the web. Sure it's nice but there is just something about real about spinning vinyl. If you have done it, you know what I'm talking about. Slowly pulling pulling the album out of it's protective sleeve. Giving it that between the palms spin and then slowly putting it on the turntable. Your anticipation goes up as you move the needle over to the first track and then slowly lower it on to the album. Maybe you get the first crackle through the speakers but then they are filled with a sound that will let you escape until you need to flip it over. It's magical. Barely Bros. recently opened off of Raymond and University (By Foxy Falafal) and they have an amazing selection of both new and used albums covering all genre's. Boxes upon boxes of 45's and if you've been thinking of getting a turntable, they even have some old school retro versions available that probably came out of our local schools. If you spin, you probably already know this is here. If you don't, it is definitely worth checking out. read more

Records and live music. This business is a celebration and a collaboration of the communities of music in and near Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Top rated record shop in MSP read more

I had a great time searching for records at Barely Bros Records. Their inventory isn't completely overwhelming and the records are organized alphabetically by genre, with some bigger artists labeled individually throughout. The albums were pretty reasonably priced. I walked away with 5 records, great Bee Gees, Chicago, and an ABBA find, and paid around $20. The staff was very friendly as well! read more

Record stores in St Paul off the Green Line? Say it isn't so! Barely Brothers is located in a little hip corner off University Avenue near Key's Cafe, with a few vintage shops in between, and another record store around the corner. What do all of them have in common? Slightly overpriced. What do they also have in common? The selection warrants it, and the service is legit. The quality of records available here is going to be hard to beat, and I know I will be visiting this store often. It seemed almost serendipitous that I found a record I had no idea I would ever find in a store, much less in St. Paul. Noone I know has ever heard of Catherine Wheel, but they were a great rock band in the middle 90s over in England...and made a short break into the Indie Rock scene here in America briefly at the same time. Their album "Chrome" is a very rare record, and was never sold in the States. Apparently someone brought in a collection not that long ago from their time living in the UK in the 90s. The record was not cheap, priced at $125, but I did get the 10% discount for spending over $100. I simply could not pass it up, and it only added to the allure of this store for me. Despite the higher than normal pricing scheme, I'll come back for the chance to score more rare records, and keep it local. This shop is worth a visit. Other details you may be interested in: -They have old stereo equipment for sale, and the pricing seemed on par with the condition of the items they had on hand. If you're looking for a turntable, this might not be a bad place to shop. -They have a WALL of 45s, all alphabetized. That's impressive. -There is a stage in the back that looks like there is live music here on occasion. read more

Barely Bros Records - Vinyl Records Near Me - Saint Paul, Minnesota

This place comes highly recommended by several people, so I tried it out....no idea why it's so highly recommended. Used records were in terrible shape....scratchy mcscratcherton! Down in the Valley and Know Name have this place beat by a long shot. Won't ever come back. read more

This place is great! It would be easy to miss if it weren't for the awning that says "records" outside. The shop is small, but jam-packed with some incredible records. Right now, there's some pretty obnoxious construction going on across the street. That coupled with the pandemic means I'm sure this place isn't getting the attention they deserve right now - please go check them out! You won't be disappointed :) read more

Been here a few times with my guy. He spins records here sometimes so we end up hanging out. The guys that run the place are nice and fun to talk to. They have a big assortment of new and old records. Pricing is pretty good too. I love to check the sales bins. Got one of my all time fave 80's singles for $3 the other day. It's cool that they have a little stage in the back for bands and record dj's. They get some surprise pop-ins with performances so check there often to see who is coming in to perform. A fairly small place so if it's busy, be prepared to weave through people. They have a large barn style sliding door in the back if you want to step outside and have a smoke. The problem is that it lets a lot of cold air in so you might not want to be standing by the stage when people are going in and out. They have beer on tap some days (and it's free). Cool place to just hang out if you are into vinyl. There is a record player and headphones there to sample stuff from the used bins. Cool that you can listen before you buy. read more

I liked this store and the staff were helpful. I did not find the selection for my musical interest large enough to make this my first destination when looking for a particular item but if you are out and about and searching for vinyl it is located near other record shops so why not? You just may find a treasure. read more

I love this record store. It's always super orderly and it's easy to find what you are looking for. Great selection and the staff is always chill and kind. Their t-shirt logo is awesome and their prices are some of the most affordable in the Cities. read more

I can't believe I didn't know this place existed until now! Super cool place, great selection, and really decent prices. I'll definitely be stopping back again sometime soon. Parking + location are pretty great. There's an abundance of street parking all around the street, and it's also located right off the Green Line. There's a few nifty little shops and restaurants within walking distance. Not a bad place to spend an hour or two in the afternoon. read more

While i have heard many say this store is over priced I did find 2 records I had been looking for for a long time. One came in ~20% lower than eBay and the other over 50% cheaper. Plus if you spend over $100 you get 10% off, over $200 20% off which is nice. There was one record I bought there that was so badly warped the first track on either side couldn't play so now I always test play everything I buy there as their QC may not be that great. But you have to be careful test playing because the cueing damping on the LP120 is broken so the needle drops and bounces on the record! The staff has always been very helpful. Their used bins have been full of treasures lately. read more

Good selection. Better selection of hip hop singles. No issues. Sale bins manageable to look through.

Wow!! What an incredible selection! Not to mention the awesome staff and totally relaxed atmosphere. How a real record store should be. I can't wait for after-brunch-warm-weather-Sunday-record shopping with the family! read more

Smaller shop, but tons of vinyl in stock of every genre. And these guys have been in the business for a long time (I used to go to Northern Lights, too, when some of these guys worked there), and their level of knowledge is apparent. And they have in-store performances once in a while showcasing some great local music! read more

I had high hopes for this record shop after my first visit there. Good vibe and decent selection, but their prices are out of control. New records are often several dollars more than other local shops. Used records are priced according to the eBay/discogs model, and while I can't entirely fault them for this, I have a hard time believing many folks are going to walk in and pay $150 plus for Frampton Comes Alive! MFSL, or $100 for a Bonnie Raitt DCC. I frequent shops that price below the idealist, sky-high online prices, so this will not be one of them. A bargain can be found here, but it's not likely. I'm all for paying a fair price and prices here aren't quite there. read more

The best kept secret in the Twin Cities for record buffs! If you want CD's - don't bother - this place is strictly for vinyl geeks! Huge selection, super friendly & geeky owner that really knows his stuff! Daily used bins are like a treasure hunt, very organized - I get over there as often as I can. read more

Cool store, and very fair in terms of payment for vinyl. Will be back.

Great selection, Great prices, Knowledgeable staff and killer in store appearances by some really good bands. What more could you want?

This place is super dope. The employees here are HELPFUL. FUNNY. SUPER NICE. The record selection is a plethora of classics with some local artists represented again; super dope. Check it out read more

This is a great used record shop for looking through a great selection of hard to find record at reasonable prices. I love this record store!! I have found some real treasures here that have been very reasonably priced, such as Madness One Step Beyond 12 inch single on the original Stiff Label for $8. This is a very relaxed store where I have even been offered birthday cake that was brought in not once, but twice. It's one of those happy places that make one's life all that much richer!
