There are quite a number of Kobe Bryant murals all over Los Angeles but this seems to be one of the most popular. It's in an alley on Lebanon Street and Cameron Lane by a dispensary not too far from Crypto (FKA Staples Center) and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The colors are vivid with a nice contrast of dark and bright colors. Do know that there's a lot of homeless people in this area. I came here early in the morning by myself and I was fine. Also, Google Maps will take you to the wrong place. I almost gave up looking for this mural and I stopped looking for it is when I found it!

Kobe Bryant. As one of the youngest members of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe stayed with his team for two decades, helping them obtain five NBA championships. He was recognized many times for his accomplishments - including being a member of the USA Olympic Basketball Team and winning two Gold Medals - proving that hard work pays off! Kobe also was an author and movie maker - he even won an Oscar for his film, "Dear Basketball"! This mural by Jonas Never was created in 2015 before the tragic helicopter crash (1-26-20) which left no survivors. Kobe, sadly, was one of the victims. The world is missing this sports legend. We would watch him play on the TV in the past. We parked on the street right across from the mural, and it was all meter parking. Seeing the mural definitely made me feel sentimental. The artist did a beautiful job at painting them. :)

But I am an NBA fan and losing Kobe so suddenly will shake anybody's spirit. So, on my recent visit to L.A., I made it a point to visit a few murals such as this by Sloe Motions. It's Kobe and his daughter, Gianna as angels. There are several murals scattered all over Los Angeles. I've seen 3 (I wasn't impressed enough to take a picture of the one close to Philippe - the roast beef place). But this one is good. A must-see for anyone visiting the area whether you're a fan of Kobe's or not. It's located at Hardcore Fitness on Pico and Grand.

After covid, the event made a powerful comeback with over 75 stores joining in on the celebration that stretched 8 blocks and 3 parking lots! Magnolia Blvd was shut down from Hollywood Way to Florence St in Magnolia Park which allowed residents and visitors to fully enjoy the festivities. There was a ferris wheel, vintage car show, kids fun zone, live music, a holiday boutique, craft & art fair, and photo opportunities with Santa & Characters and more! There were also several other photobooth opportunities. Restaurants and other businesses in Magnolia Park remained open late until the end of the event. There were also several food trucks along the boulevard. Exhibitors and artists had their own booths to showcase their merchandise. Overall a fun event to look forward to each year.

There are live music/bands at several locations. Many kids activities area. A few business offer free popcorn. Lovely Porto's offer free cookies & coffee/hot chocolate. One church offers free donuts. Being a huge Dodger fan my whole life, I am trying to view all the public murals of my boys in blue in the LA area. The artist Robert Vargas completed this mural and it was unveiled on 3/27/2024. It is such a perfect depiction of one of my favorite players. Easy to find on the side of the Miyako Hotel in the Little Tokyo neighborhood in Los Angeles. So happy Shohei joined our team and helped us clinch another World Series Championship! If you find yourself in the area, be sure to stop and take a look.
