My husband has fond memories of Mama's Pizza from his college days and we were looking for a place to eat in the area. It didn't disappoint. $15 for the pizza buffet, salad bar, and a drink is a good deal these days! The salad bar was impressive - fresh ingredients and I'm not sure if the dressing are homemade but they taste like it. I had the ranch. They had a variety of salad toppings to choose from including hard boiled eggs. The pizza varied was great. Thick and thin crust. I was a fan of the pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and. Jalapeños one and the meat and veggies pizza. The staff is really nice and said that if we wanted something different, to let them know. The only complaint is that we are die hard Coke fans and they serve Pepsi BUT they offer Dr. pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper, which was a great alternative for us. lol. I'm sure the place gets packed and there are lots of tables to choose from. The dining area is clean too. Lastly, they have some arcade games to play in the back area. Fantastic pizza. We had the buffet and it was great! Seemed like every pizza came with extra cheese without having to order extra cheese. The crust was fantastic with some garlic butter or whatever they put on it. The selection was random but awesome. The only negative was my son fell down while dancing on the seat to the music they were playing inside. I ordered a plain cheese 20-inch "Mama's size" pizza, which is $20+tax. Toppings are very reasonably priced at $1 per topping. They have a coupon on their web page that took an additional $4 off. The prices are very reasonable, especially with the coupon. They also have a lunch buffet, but I preferred to get the Mama's pizza so I could have leftovers for later. Mama's is a Fort Worth institution, and the pizza did not disappoint, as it was very good as usual. The crust was very good, as it is very buttery. The sauce is also very flavorful, and it comes with lots of cheese. The pizza tastes the same as when I was a child, so it is very nostalgic. The only knock on it is that the pizza is very greasy, but the other pros outweigh this one shortcoming. The restaurant is also very old-looking, as it seems like time has stopped in the 1970s here, but that is part of its charm, especially with the old Galaga and Ms. Pacman video games. The wait staff was very nice and the food was ready when I arrived. I highly recommend Mama's and will definitely return. Tip - they have coupons on their web page that take $4 off the 20" Mama's size, $3 off the 16" large, and $2 off the 13" medium pizza. After taking care of some late night shopping in the area, my wife and I were hungry for a little late night snack. Mama's Pizza was close by and it fit "the bill" perfectly. Neither one of us had been to Mama's in AGES! For decades Mama's has served one of our all time favorite pizzas. The outer crust is absolutely incredible, there is nothing like it. The crust is beautifully browned and the pizza is all sorts of cheesy goodness. There's none equal to Mama's Pizza in the Ft. Worth area. Made an order for take out, I got there and went to pay and that's when I realized the cashier had made a mistake with my order. They let the manager know and the way that Colden (not sure if spelled right) handled the situation was one of the best customer services I've had this whole year You can tell he cares about the experience the client has and makes sure to provide the best pizza he can. He gave me a whole new pizza (mamas size) just for the one extra topping they had added on top mistakenly, even though I was honestly ok with the extra topping. Their pizza sucks so bad. We've given them a chance about 3x and each pizza sucks more than the last. Last night what we really wanted was Mellow Mushroom. Their pizza is sooo good, but they were closed. Unfortunately, once pizza is on the brain, nothing else will do, so against our better judgment we ordered from Mama's. It's so damn soggy. Like, how do you even get your pizza that soggy? Is that on purpose? If you ever find yourself having to order subpar pizza from this place, hold up a slice. The crust stays in your hand and the rest drops in a vertical line. It can't hold itself up it's so damn soggy. Gross. Now, the flavor would have to be unbelievably good to make up for the wet, soggy mess, but unsurprisingly that sucks too. Sorry mama's, I think it's time for a new recipe. If I were to rate this restaurant on its own I would give it three stars. I had the lunch buffet. The pizza was lukewarm and the selection was minimal. The salad bar was slightly above average. There was no desert. But I gave this place four stars because I am comparing to other similar establishments such as Cicis and Pizza Inn. The quality of the food is a mountaintop higher than Cicis. Place is very nostalgic. Lots of TCU memorabilia on the walls. Campus is across the street. Most of the time, I pick up pizzas and take them home. Today I was here for lunch. Chose the buffet option and they did not disappoint. Food was excellent and fresh. Most people will call the interior dated. However it brings back historical times at TCU & Fort Worth, so that is fine. Definitely need to repair or get new seating in the booths and new chairs. The pizza buffet was $10 each and comes with a drink and salad bar. The same delicious pizza I remember from my childhood. Kind of a garlic knot type of chewy crust and bright tomato sauce, it's really unique and delicious. If you're into dipping, the crust is everything dipped into their creamy Italian dressing. I went to Mamas today for lunch. I kind of dreaded it like when you have to go to a friends house that's messy. I hoped it was better than the last time. But people go here because they've always gone here. I used to like it. It feels dirty and old. It's just a dinosaur that needs to lay it's head down. The pizza is just pizza. I was pretty disappointed. We arrived just before the lunch crowd but there was no cheese pizza. I was there with my 3 year old and both of us eat cheese only. They had 4 versions of hamburger and 1 pepperoni. Kept bringing out more hamburger. We waited 20 minutes before they brought out one sad cheese pizza. It was so odd. The pizza was good though. Nice chewy crust. Salad bar was basic but fine. Right at kid height which meant lots of kids walking up and serving themselves. Probably not the cleanest salad bar due to that ETA after reading the owner's response, I did request cheese pizza and kept inquiring as to the status. Answer was always that they will bring one out in a few minutes. And then they kept bringing out hamburger pizza. Also, my comment about the kid height salad bar has to do with the fact that there was a kid there while we were waiting that had a horrible cough and kept going up to the buffet to serve herself.
