    Cheesesteak with that SWIZZLE
    Connor B.

I visited Mama's on a road trip to go see Mt. Rushmore and I am here to say that every one of you visiting South Dakota may as well stop and get ya a Philly. If you are going to Rushmore, stop by Mama's first, or second, or both it all works. Yes, I am aware that Mt. Rushmore is literally on the opposite side of the state but LISTEN TO ME! Take ya a bonus day, drive that 80Mph speed limit interstate highway, count the roughly 28-billion billboards promoting "Wall Drug" and get to Sioux Falls. Once you get there, saunter in like you own the place, (in like a nice way, not like a jerk boss way) find yourself a stool, (Bar stool preferably) and order a Philly Cheesesteak with the swizzle. The swizzle is a combo of Swiss and CHEESE WIZZ. NO I AM NOT KIDDING AND MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK.... Okay that's better, where was I? Right the cheesesteak, Wow, just wow. I literally can't even describe it, but I must try. The steak itself is as if heaven decided that one particular cow would be the tastiest in all the land and gave it to Mamma's Phried and Phillies... You may be sad that now this special cow is gone, but fret not my friends, it seems to me that the special cow had babies and now Mama's will have an eternal run of...dare I say...Heavenly good beef... You watch them cook the entire thing right in front of you (The place ain't big) as the master cook, who thought he was just driving through Sioux Falls and ended up staying for, I'm guessing a minimum of 18 years, makes everything fresh as you stare on, in ever growing hunger. Do not miss out on Heaven...and don't miss out on Mama's My wife says the fries sent her on an "Amaze Train"

First choice didn't pan out so found this little joint. The customer service was great. Can't eat inside but they have places outside to eat. Ordered the wings and fries. Crispy and little dry. I wouldn't say they were the worst wings I have eaten but they weren't the best. Wife had the cheesesteak fries and they seem to be really good. Probably the best part. My daughter had the chicken tenders and fries. The fries have loads of pepper on them so beware. It was a nice stop but probably won't try them again.

Didn't expect to find great Philly cheesesteaks in South Dakota. But these guys surprised me. The bread is super soft and just right. The fries are seasoned and just round out a perfect lunch. I came here twice during my visit it was that good. Definitely the beat Dakota cheesesteak you will find.

What a great find! You sit at the counter and get a great Philly Cheesesteak. Nothing fancy or complicated. Just good ribeye, whiz, and Swiss. Got to go back and try the fried chicken. It looked legit.

Mama's Phried and Phillys in Sioux Falls, SD. I recently spent a few days out of town and this was a recommended stop by a friend of a friend. Mama's Phried and Phillys is literally a hole in the wall. The walk-up window is just for presentation as far as I could tell, but maybe it's utilized when the weather is nice. The seating inside is a counter top and about ten stools or so. There were a couple sidewalk tables outside I heard staff tell customers they could use "Just make sure the baskets come back inside!" The staff was fantastic. They were pretty attentive considering at any time you were less than five feet away from one of the them honing their craft. The food. It's exactly what you would expect with the name like the place has. Phillys and anything that would typically come out of mom's chicken fryer pan. The ribeye was good quality and they did something I really hadn't seen before. The onion and peppers were pre-diced and mixed with the meat. Typically it's prepped on the side of the grill and swept into the meat on order. I didn't mind this at all and it was small dice so you didn't get a big hunk of onion or green pepper. It was there to flavor the sandwich and that was what it did. Choices of cheese...cheese whiz or provolone. I didn't see the provolone used at all while we were there. The roll is very close to an authenticate amoroso roll. Firm yet soft. Not tough to bite, but it held together well enough to cradle the meat and cheese without getting soggy. This made me happy. The chef/owner said it took him a long time to find a local hoagie roll he was happy with. The fresh chicken they offered was hand breaded in front of you and dropped into the fryer. I really wanted to try the chicken too, but I was there for the cheesesteak. I thank God this place isn't in Des Moines or I'd be eating there every day. My gf didn't exactly feel the same way, but I think that's because she stuck out like a sore thumb. The place has a boys' club feel to it. Like when a woman walks into an old school barber shop and everyone gets really quiet... Was it an authentic Philadelphia cheesesteak? My time in Philadelphia tells me not exactly...but for a Midwest facsimile it was damn near on point. The two sandwiches, sides (fries and jalapeno cheese balls), and drinks ran $24 and change before tip if I recall correctly. Everything was served right off the grill or out of the fryer to a basket directly in front of you. Fresh and hot. I'd go back again and again. Date of actual visit: 06/08/2017

Best cheese steaks in town. Lived on the east coast as a kid and these are exactly how I remember them!

Best chicken and best Philly in town, hands down. Heads up, the chicken takes close to 15 minutes, but it's worth it.

I'm new in Sioux Falls and I haven't had a good cheesesteak in years, so I stopped in for lunch on Thursday.
