We tried several dishes the lumpia, beef caldereta, beef steak, and chicken adobo etc and each one was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The caldereta had that rich, savory comfort-food taste, and the beef steak with onions was spot on. The chicken adobo had that classic savory flavor we love. Mama's Kitchen... and you may ask yourself why its I still gave them 5 stars? It's a bit on the salty side and if they can bring it down a bit and it would have been perfect. I'm still leaving a 5 stars because improvements can still be done but it could be something more like my taste preference so who know I might have a strong taste buds to taste more salt then usual so again it could be just a preference on my end. Lechon Kawali (pork) is a hit and miss and this one was not to miss when you like pork dishes... I would try this dish only if the other are not available. 3. The Beef Kalderta (Beff Stew) well this one is also a way you have to make it otherwise it won't taste well and Mama's landed a good style of flavors to add with rice and man this hits the spot! I yet to try the Short Ribs , Beef Steak, Lumpia and Sopao. For the soup your get the Bulalo. The location is a bit tricky on how it looks on maps because it's saying it's inside the Market and yes its inside! Small place and looks empty at times (morning more but the benefit was we got our food fresh and we kinda had our own chef cook for us!) Was not a fan of this place:( They didn't have 2 out of the 3 menu items that we wanted, the chicken adobo was made with mini wings and legs (which looked nothing like their picture), the rice was crunchy in certain areas, and the bistek was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't taste like bistek either. The ribs were good, though. All in all, it was not worth the price:/ (Added a star because service was friendly.) read more

Hands down the best Lechon Kawali I had. It has the perfect crunch and flavor. We also ordered the Bistek, Beef Caldereta and Pork Bbq. They're all delicious. I grew up in the Bay Area where Filipino food was easily accessible and a lot of it! Moving to Utah, it's been hard finding places to fulfill my cravings of home. I can make some of my favorite dishes - but sometimes you just don't want to cook, you know? When it comes to Filipino food in Utah, I've tried 3 other restaurants & Mama's is superior. I actually CRAVE it. She doesn't have an extensive menu, but what she does have on the menu she does well. My go to is a plate with lechon kawaii + chicken adobo. But, we've tried everything else at least once and everything has been great. Her prices are SO reasonable - $10 for a HUGE plate of food. Mama does NOT skimp on the portion size. One plate usually lasts me two (sometimes 3) meals. The only downside is that sometimes you have to wait a while for your food. She can get pretty busy and it's often just her running the register and cooking. But, her location is perfect when there is a long wait. Usually I'll just order when I first walk in then do some grocery shopping while I'm there. She also treats all her customers more like friends or family. She is such a sweetheart! read more

I don't mind the wait time, because there's lots to see in Market, and usually Mama is working by herself in the kitchen. When we were there, everyone wanted to order food from this place. She still had a upbeat attitude. We got the lechon kawaili, bbq ribs, chicken adobo, and halo halo. All was so yummy. The food I ordered is actually authentic. I ordered the steam rice with barbecue pork and lechon kawali. My food was served hot and deliciously savory. However, It takes a long time to be served, approximately 20-30 minutes using my timer. The only way to kill time is to stroll around Ocean Mart. There are a lot of Asian goods so take your time and have someone wait for your meal. There are times the food I want on the menu is not available so it can be a disappointment since I live within the Salt Lake City area. The owner's service and hospitality is excellent and she treated me like family by checking upon me and such, but food service can be improved. We bought Lechon (Roast pig) for a party from this location. Lechon was moist, taste was great, and packaging was good. This is probably the best Filipino Lechon in the state of Utah. I can't stand the Filipino style Lechon that is offered by most of the Vietnamese stores since all it is flavored with is salt and pepper. The Lechon from this place has all sorts of aromatics stuffed in the belly. The only drawback to this place is that it is so far away. Not at all impressed. Ordered a shrimp/veggie dish and there was absolutely NO shrimp and 1 piece of cabbage in it! I was literally given a dish with a scoop of rice and ramen noodles.
