    Chili Cheese Fries
    Jenn H.

Mama's Kitchen might be a small kitchen, in the cut, inside of a liquor store, but let me tell you...it is sooo dang good! My husband & I have tried everything on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of it. The chicken is always crispy crunchy but so moist and juicy on the inside, the fish is just as good. Don't sleep on the chili cheese fries either. Their portions are huge, but priced just right! Only got a pic of the chili cheese fries, because everyone tore up the chicken before I could get a pic.

Half red & green chilaquiles delicious

    Wonton with Szechuan Sauce

First time to Mama's kitchen, small restaurant with usually an hour wait. The restaurant has modern setting with lots nice glass and silver decor. It was just me and my wife and we ordered wonton in Szechuan sauce, tantan noodles, crispy beef and fried rice. The wonton was very tasty with just a dash of spice. Tantan noodles was a little soggy for me and didn't care for it. The crispy beef had a good sweat marination. Overall, the portions aren't very big, but descent meal.

My family and I were in Vegas for my husbands birthday we wanted some soul food.... I googled and found this place. It's 20 minutes from the strip and a small little family owned place and omg we loved it. The cook greeted us as we walked in. The food was fresh and delicious! Make sure you try the "stupid fries" they were bomb asf!!! I didn't get to take a picture because we smashed them as soon as they came out! We also tried the catfish that was yummy. The shrimp and grits were really good. The fried chicken is good and crispy, I love fried chicken. The kids loved the koolaid. The prices were decent. If you're in Vegas definitely try this place out! Only thing I didn't like is we had to wait over an hour for our food because there is only one cook and there was about 7 of us... but hey it was fresh!

The food does take awhile to get to you, it seems they could work on efficiency, but the food is good!

The cheeseburger was sent back twice. Very undercooked. The tuna melt came out cold. Wouldn't come back. Wanted to like this place, nope.

You can bring your drink with you on the side where the food is. It is very easy to order your food on the kiosk. My family & I ordered multiple things and spent about $100. First, I tried the bbq chicken which was delicious , great flavor and the sauce is LIT! The ribs were tender and not fatty at all. Oxtails, I'd give 7/10. As for the sides, the yams were my favorite, they weren't too sweet. The greens were OK, the potato salad was my Least favorite. It had a tangy taste, not how I prefer MY potato salad. The Mac and cheese was disappointing but I did like the texture & the noodles weren't overcooked. Mr Dane hooked us up with the oxtails and cornbread and we greatly appreciated it. The atmosphere was great & it was like we met Dane before. Overall, I would give this place 3.5 stars , I think if the sides improved this place would be even more LIT! Being that Mr Dane had absolutely NO HELP & was still able to provide excellent service, based on that, I will be back.

The service was impeccable!! We came around 1030am, and it wasn't busy, but it was full. We waited a couple mins for a table for 4, which maybe took 10 mins max. We were offered bottled water while we waited, (Vegas was 108 degrees). The waitresses were very sweet. Very knowledgeable as well. Their recommendations were on point cus the food was truly amazing! If you go, it's not called gritz cafe for no reason! Get the grits! I added crushed sausage and cheese to mine and man oh man!! That took it from a 10 to a 20! So good! I ordered the chicken and waffles and it came with a side of gritz. The chicken was perfectly fried. Crispy on the outside. Juicy and flavorful on the inside. Once the hot sauce was added it was even better! The waffle itself was also amazing. Now i love me a Waffle House and i swear by their waffles, but these got them beat by 100000! I ordered a plain waffle, my brother got the yams waffle. (Yams in the batter.) OMG!! That was beyond delicious! My sister got the peach cobbler waffle which might've slightly been a bit better than the sweet potato, and i got the regular waffle which was still a good 10/10! They serve it with hot syrup. (Careful cuz it comes in a metal container that's also hot). They melted butter into the waffle before it comes to your table. It was everything!! I definitely would've came back if i didn't have other reservations. The ambiance was super cute. They don't sell alcohol, so we ordered lemonades and sweet teas. They had a nice pandora playlist playing in the background and by the time we left, there was a line out the door. They close at 2pm so get there early if you can to beat the rush, but this is a highly recommended 10/10!! If and when i come back to Vegas I'm coming back. Maybe 2x lol. See pics below

When we…read morefirst arrived around 1:30pm we were told the inside was closed and only to-go orders were being taken. After standing in line for about 10 minutes to place a to-go order, we were suddenly told we could sit inside after all. We put our name on the waitlist for a table, but it ended up getting given to another party -- seems like there was some miscommunication among the staff. Thankfully, we were able to place our order while waiting, so the food came out shortly after we finally got seated. The space was small and pretty crowded, especially with other conference attendees also stopping in. I ordered the Big Gritz Breakfast -- 2 wings, 2 catfish, eggs, and a waffle -- and it was excellent. So good and filling I needed a nap afterward. The staff were genuinely apologetic about the mix-ups and even gave us free waters on our way out, which was a nice gesture. Between the food and that effort, I'd still swing by again if I'm back in Vegas -- just hoping for a smoother start next time.

Still, the popcorn photo means a lot, and I'll tell you why. Up by the register many local artisans are featured. I met the owner of the popcorn company when we sat side-by-side at a farmer's market in Henderson. He was talking about getting stores to carry his product. I recommended Mario's. And here he is. I love this so much. Plus my husband loves his half and half Chicago style popcorn. They were out of that, but I grabbed churro because that sounds yummy. But back to the deli- I made a bee line to the back of the store. I could smell the delicious flavors before I got halfway back. There is always a line. Embrace the line. That means it's good, and it is. I ducked down the pork rind aisle and found my place in line. I chatted with the other people in line while we waited. The fella behind me was getting catfish steaks, and they put out a beautiful new pan just as he stepped up. I was nervous. I didn't see any ribs. Mario's ribs are special. They are tender, juicy, fragrant, tangy and they just fall off the bone. I asked if they had any. They had about a pound left. I got that and a chicken quarter. They put them in a styrofoam box and before I knew it I was on my way. If I didn't just go to lunch with Gwyneth, I would have gotten the swai. Just a heads up- if you're not getting catfish steaks, you're getting swai. I love their swai, and mac and cheese, and greens, and cabbage, and yams, and banana pudding, and peach cobbler, but today I was going simple. Deli staff were super friendly and efficient. The cashier up front was kind when I was tapping my card to no avail. She tapped for me and I was out the door. If you are looking for some excellent comfort food, visit Mario's. The sweet potato casserole was a no it absolutely like it had been there all day uncovered, and it was just dried out and really brown and not appealing looking. The macaroni and cheese the same. It looked like I had literally been there for hours and it just wasn't very appealing looking. The sweet potatoes... I did sample one when I was in there, but it was actually undercooked. The flavor probably isn't bad if they had enough time to cook. The greens were OK however there was no meat or anything. It was definitely just greens and they do include the stems. we took a family meal and for the sides we did the dirty rice and the greens. We did wait for fresh fish to come up, but overall it wasn't as good as it used to be. The service was as you would expect. Not rude, but definitely not super friendly. With the Family mail you got a tray of fish the cornbread as they call it... Two sides and a 2 L that you pick up on your way out. If you shop the grocery store, there are definitely sauces and things that you may not be able to locate elsewhere! So, that portion of the store is very useful. But the food selection definitely is not what it used to be. The ambience was as you would expect... There was an older gentleman working the meat counter, and he was kind. There were about three brothers in the back at the deli counter and the service was decent overall. In the front though they were all very playful and laughing with each other so you can tell that they definitely have their regulars and they have already built that rapport. For me on the deli... I wouldn't return. But for the story itself and maybe even a grab some produce absolutely. Now, if you're a shopper, some of the things in the store are priced a bit high but if you didn't have anything closer, you know it is available in walking distance so I get it.
