bad service, (fyi i walked in and the seats had crumbs alll over them) lady had an RBF the whole time, didn't include extra charges while we ordered, Had an unwelcoming attitude and didn't introduce herself. minimal communication and honesty uncomforting. Food was really good and good portions with reasonable pricing but the staff are somthing else. i suggest maybe to make the restaurant a little more welcoming, better lights and cleanliness and maybe some music in the back. staff should reflect on themself. read more

Great food and huge portions. We as a couple one order of fish and chips was perfect. Will be back.

Good food and lots of options on the menu. You can get pretty stuffed here ordering the huge home cooked meals. Most are tasty! Mamas loses a star for the Ukrainian Plate they serve. Tried it last time and those cabbage rolls and perogies need some Baba help! Fairly busy on the weekends and around main meal hours. Line ups tell you the food is special! read more

What a delight! As you enter you walk through the waft of home-cooking. Then there's a menu of classic comfort food. I was tempted by the hotdog and frues, the grilled cheese, a tuna sandwish, and more....I had an open Denver. It was perfectly done, just a little browned on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My dining companion had a one piece fish and chips that was an enormous serving. It's cozy and roomy, the walls are.covered in signs and decorations, there's so many things to see with lots of parking outside. read more

If you have ever travelled in the States, you know the portion size they serve. You get exactly that at Mama's. The food is always very good, the service is the very best, friendly, professional and very efficient. The prices are quite reasonable for what you get. The old wooden floors really. give you down home feeling. I highly recommend Mama's, not only for the food and service, but also what they give back to the community. Love this place read more

rude ass waitresses! especially over the phone. ate steak and omelette here once the eggs were uncooked and the steak tasted stale. yuck

Good food and very friendly service. The server was happy to modify both the content and prices of dishes to meet dietary needs of a guest. The atmosphere is very down home local eatery with tables for two or four and the ability to set up for larger groups to share a table. read more

Drove about 45 minutes out of Edmonton to get here. Be prepared for line-ups around 11 for lunch. Eases off about 12:30. Wonderful experience in a quaint and cozy, very eclectic diner. Huge number of menu options. Very large servings. Chef salad large enough for two. Burger with bacon and mushrooms was outstanding. So tasty. Note: If going for fish and chips, a little later in day might be helpful. All the fish was still frozen on our visit. We will go again at a later time to have their famous fish and chips. The staff is bar none EXCELLENT! Friendly and efficient, and almost intuitive as to their customers' needs. A special shout out to our server, Crystal. If any waitress ever deserved a tip, she did. Thank you! Parking area is fairly large and there is an inside bench to wait on should anyone with leg issues need a spot to rest. Overall, well worth the trip from Edmonton. PS The coffee is awesome, too. read more

the food looked amazing- wish i got to try it . sadly, i forced my 2,5,8 year old to walk 14 minutes to this restaurant. Once we got here the first person was nice the restaurant though dark. We got a table then never saw anyone for about 15 minutes even though there was only probably 5 tables full in the restaurant. Finally a server came to us and i had a few questions about the menu as some of the kids names for food are ambiguous. The server left and said i'll be back leaving my questions unaswwred one of the questions I had was "are the nemo and friends fish or chicken" she replied with "what else would they be?" So when the server came back I said you know my questions weren't answered do you have time now for my questions - she replied i have better things to do than stand here and wait while your kids answer if they want chicken or fish. So i replied okay I have better places to spend my money.... horrible service - rude and not a way to treat a single mom who was with three kids. Ww then went to jeddys patio where we had outstanding service and they were so accommodating and even answered my questions! - mind blown read more

If you are going to The Beautiful Alberta beach you must eat here! We were warmly regarding as we walked in, the restaurant itself is decorated in the Alberta Beach artifacts and pictures and wonderful and funny wooden works of art that kept you entertained throughout your meal. The menu has such a great variety, my sister and I took to the reviews and ordered the fish and chips, and we were for surely happy we did! Such crispy batter and tender fish, the sides of tarter sauce and coleslaw were so tasty as well, nice crispy fries and I definitely suggest their gravy on the side. Every dish that passed us looked soo delicious. I am looking forward to visiting again for sure. Service was excellent and welcoming. read more

Ordered fish and chips tonight. Told 1 hour. We left. Deep fried. Really? Been there before. But 1 hour? Crazy!

You might think 5 stars is too high but you've got to see this place and try the food for yourself. To begin with, this place is off-the-beaten-track. Secondly, your going to get fresh made to order food. Lastly, the big guy is a kick. We were traveling down the freeway and decided to see what our dining options were when I found this place on Yelp. It was about 15 minutes off our route but what the heck, we were ready for a new adventure. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips based on other reviews. We had three options: one, two or three pieces of fish. We both chose 2. Big mistake. Should have ordered 1. The portions are big. It's served with yummy cole slaw and a huge portion of french fries - with or without gravy. Hubby got the gravy which was yummy. We have traveled around the world and have had fish-n-chips many times, but these were one of the best. read more

Food was delicious and portion sizes are humungous. Well worth the drive to go for dinner.

Well worth the drive from Stony Plain. Price is over and above reasonable. $15 for a basic breakfast. Bacon ham or sausage, two eggs and choice of hash browns. I had bacon and my husband had ham. I received 5 glorious pieces of bacon cooked to perfection and my husband received 5 slices of ham. Over easy eggs cooked properly absolutely no slime anywhere! I highly recommend!!!!!! If I could give more stars I would. This was our first time there, it most certainly won't be the last. read more

Came here after seeing the reviews and what a mistake that was. Definitely not worth the 45 minute wait. Especially in a hot and smoky restaurant. Service was quick and efficient but not enough for us to return. read more

Moved into the area and we take all our company to this hole in the wall for breakfast lunch or supper. Never been disappointed with the service , portions, freshness and taste !! Wonderfully run family business. Note: they are extremely busy at prime times. read more

Take a drive out to Alberta Beach and give this place a try! The decor is nothing fancy, but it oozes cozy charm. Mamas offers down home comfort food, generous portions & friendly service at a great price. Hubby had a bacon cheeseburger & fries which he said was awesome! The hamburger patty was fresh, homemade and very large, topped with real cheddar cheese, several delicious slices of bacon and all snuggled inside a pillowy soft bun with side of crispy fries. I had the days special which was 2 Yorkshire puddings topped with lean & tender roast beef, mashed potatoes and REAL GRAVY!!! Mind blown folks. It was delicious, and I ended up taking half home. It would have been a 5 star meal except that the side of frozen mixed veggies was very ho hum. I would have rather had a side salad or pretty much any other fresh/steamed veggie. My meal also included a dessert square, so I chose the butter tart square. This baby also came home with me and I enjoyed it the next day as a snack on our road trip. It was sweet & delicious with a shortbread cookie-like crust on the bottom. It was perfect. This place is close to home, so I'll definitely be back soon. Thanks Mama! read more

Good food, huge portions and great service. Very busy at times for a good reason. Quaint venue with great food.

We did a memorial motorcycle ride for a friend on the weekend. One of his favourite spots was Mamas In The Kitchen. We called ahead. They had extra staff on and a long table set up for our group of 20. The service was amazing, so quick and friendly!!! Our orders were taken right away and the food was delivered in record time. The food was awesome, very well prepared. The portions were huge!! Had we not been socializing we could have been in and out easily in less than an hour. What a terrific dining experience. If you are ever in Alberta Beach be sure to stop in!! You won't be dissappointed!! RK44 Stony Plain read more

Decided to stop here for snacks after exploring the backroads of Alberta Beach. I am glad I did. The owner was friendly and made suggestions when we were perusing the menu. At first glance the prices seem a touch on the higher side but don't let that fool you, the portion size makes up for it. We ordered the deep fried shrimp with cocktail sauce, mozza sticks with marinara and fries with gravy. The shrimp was a generous portion and was perfectly fried crispy and not greasy. The mozza sticks are definitely some of the best I've tried, I'm not a huge fan of mozza sticks but my partner is and he loved them. They have a nice coating that is thick enough to stay together until the cheese on the inside is actually melted (unlike most places) and gooey while the outside is crispy. The fries were good and I really enjoyed the gravy, thick and savory. The set up is nice and there is a picnic table outside if you want, we ate on the hood of our car and enjoyed the sunshine. The food cake out quickly and with a smile, I will be back. Definitely recommend! read more

First time at this recently opened diner in Alberta Beach. The place was clean despite being busy. Ordered breakfast which they serve all day long. Shredded hashbrowns were browned perfectly, eggs done right...the only thing I didn't like was the beef sausage which was a little dry. Serves me right for eating meat after swearing it off months ago. Most importantly, the service was quick, friendly and genuine. Simply decorated with lots of tables, it's a good place to stop for a bite to eat when visiting Alberta Beach. read more

Camping nearby and read on YELP about Mama's. The Fish and Chips was awesome. Substituted onion rings for fries and they were perfect....just like the fish. Both were crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Being from "the states", we were extremely impressed with everything including the very friendly service. Cheryle and her cohorts could not have been nicer or more efficient. Go here... read more

Do not understand how everyone raves about this place. The half dozen times I've been in there, I have left thoroughly disappointed. The service was lacking, tables always dirty and sticky, front of house staff always look confused and unorganized. Have had to help myself for drinks on more than one occasion, and the food was nothing to rave about. I have worked in the industry, and can point out what is actually made in-house, or is bought premade/frozen. Good portion of the dishes served here, are all compliments of Sysco. You'd be better off going to your local fast food restaurant if you want premade meals. read more

Excellent food and service at this restaurant. The food is homemade and the portions are big. Prices are very decent, especially considering the serving sizes. The food was tasty, and the atmosphere had the western out back feel down to a T. Unfortunately the dining experience was ruined by the lack of service, and welcoming feel that I was hoping to get on my date. Two groups came in after us they got both more service and their food well before we did. We weren't asked how we were doing till after our food came out, and drink refills weren't offered till after they were asked for. When other customers came they were welcomed with "how are you doing today?", and a smile, well outside what we were given making us feel like complete outsiders. I'm not sure if it's because we don't appear of Canadian decent, but we both felt out of place in a place that was recommended by the suite. The dining experience should be the full package of great food, service, atmosphere, and should most defiantly make everyone feel welcomed. read more

I love this restaurant. Both times I've been there the food and service were excellent. Excellent place to go to enjoy a meal. Thanks :-)

First time. Food was okay except vegetables. Invest in some decent vegetables not the mush that was served

Thick, juicy, tastiest hamburger in Northern Alberta. Family run, the service can't be beat and fun, entertaining, kibitzing server. Our evening dinner was an awesome experience. We rode motorcycles out to Alberta Beach and though this isn't the 'destination' that most everybody will ride to in this town, it absolutely ought to be! Very good food, very good portions, all drink selections, all very well priced and all very likable staff. "Mama's in the Kitchen" restaurant is MY new destination in Alberta Beach. read more
