Wow, just wow!! So glad my sister found this place and we all got to enjoy it together. We tried a bunch of items, from snails, to noodles, to clams, chicken feet, and conch. Everything was so flavorful and each dish had its own distinct flavor. My favorite was a coconut swirly snails. Least favorite would be the mango conch salad. Although I love onions, there was just way too many and overpowered the dish. To the chef, I recommend adding more herbs and cutting back some onions. Service was fast. Food came out pretty quick. Fast order at the counter, food comes to your table once you settle down with your number. It's really small but had some seating outside on the sidewalk too. They also own the other Mama's a store or two over which you can bring the snack items and eat here. If you could only get one dish here, let it be the Hu Tieu Nam Vuong 5/5. Small and delicious authentic Vietnamese dishes and street food! They run out of things all the time so if you want something specific make sure you go early. My favorite dish to get there is the bun rieu. But I also had the Bo kho with egg noodles and it's also very good! For street food I had the crispy tofu, snails, and even balut! They have inside seating but it doesn't feel great inside. If the weather is nice that have small kid size tables and chairs you can use that adds to the experience and makes eating fun. The service is fairly fast and you can tell the they are always working hard. The plaza is very busy so you might have to park a few rows away but it's worth it! read more

One of my fellow Yelp Elites was aghast at the notion that I had spent two of my precious vacation meals at the same business. But I had thoroughly enjoyed our first meal here after landing at Fort Lauderdale Airport, so when my travel companion asked if I'd be up for a revisit for lunch but two days after, I was agreeable. MaMa Tofu is actually no longer, as they have renamed themselves MaMa Street Food. But still, we ordered their lemongrass fried tofu both visits - it was worth burning your mouth good, with a satisfying texture accompanying the pleasant flavor. While both the congee we had were yummy, their seafood congee was definitely yummier than the clam. We sat outside our first time there and unexpectedly had our individual bowls and utensils blown off the table by the wind, but with the wind and rain due to hit any moment, we gladly took an empty table inside our next visit. Fabulous!!! Been eyeing this place for a while it's always packed everytime we walked by but on this Tuesday evening was nice and quiet. They have the things you can't get at any other restaurant in the area. The lemongrass coconut snails were a hit. The Vietnamese wings were super crispy and flavors are on point. The conch mango salad was overpowered by onions but would've been 5 out of 5 if they balanced out the mango to onion ratio but plenty of conch and prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I've been here twice and gotten different things but my most recent visit was inspired by a friend telling me about Bo Kho, which is a Vietnamese beef stew. I've been told that this dish doesn't always come with noodles but here, the business refers to this dish as beef ramen. It comes in a big bowl with a good amount of beef and noodles. The flavor was really good and it was more than enough to satisfy our group, since most of us got our own bowls. They also have other popular dishes like seafood and snails. Any time we visit Ft Lauderdale, we get to try Mama Tofu Street Food. As always, the food was great, and the services were beyond expectations. We tried several appetizers with clams, spotted babylon snails ([ốc hương) and wool snails in coconut sauce (ốc len xào dừa). We also had Hu Tiu, the southern noodle soup; Bun Rieu; and a Porridge. I can't believe I've never reviewed Mama Tofu before. I've been several times whenever I hit up 545 Banh Mi Cafe and Mama YaTai Donut. You can't miss this place because they have the cute little tables and chairs, just like they have in Vietnam! The scooters out front are for show. Hehe. This spot is a legit Asian street food spot. So my Asian friends always talk about Mama Tofu and the authenticity of the dishes. They talk about the snails and lemongrass tofu all the time. Went to a party where someone brought the lemongrass tofu and let me just tell you...it's damn good!!! The tofu is extra crispy and the fresh grated ginger with that sauce is perfection. No joke, I come here specifically for the lemongrass tofu and it never disappoints. If you can, eat it immediately because it's the absolute best when it's fresh and hot. I've also gotten the Bun Rieu, which is a difficult Vietnamese dish to find almost anywhere. Very rare. Kind of like Mi Quang which is another one of my faves. The Bun Rieu is one of their most popular dishes here and my first bite reminded me of my parent's cooking. They use to make Bun Rieu all the time and this was very nostalgic for me. My family comes here often for the bun rieu! It is the best that we can find around us so it is worth the 30min drive. I also like the pho and wintermelon tea. The workers are so nice, they speak English and Vietnamese which is convenient, and the service is pretty quick. The inside is well-decorated and has a comforting/warm feeling to it. We came here 3 times during the 3 days/2nights stay in Miami (and it took 45 minutes with traffic to get there from Miami). That to say how much I love this place!! Being a street food lover, before getting to Miami, this is a MUST visit place for me!! The hours need to be updated! They now open on Thursday as well!! I always saw a diverse group of people who come here, although the food is very authentic! I has always been cautious with Vietnamese restaurants that are not catered to Vietnamese clients. I would say this place a unique exception. First of all the food, with my many visits, I got to try the following - Oc huong - Chao Long - Hu tieu - Sua bap (corn milk) - Bun rieu - Ngheu hap sa - Tra bi dao I love everything we tried but if I have to pick my top 3 absolute favorite, that would be chao long, oc huong and corn milk! Being Vietnamese I know it is not easy to make this rice soup without a weird smell lol! That could only happen with skill (of course) and fresh pork intestine!! Oc huong (snail) I know it has a fancy name that I don't remember! The snail is really good and really really fresh! The corn milk and tra bi dao were also amazing! They came in cute little containers with the handles The food here reminds me so much of my childhood!! And there are many dishes that you cannot find easily at different parts of the country. I would also love trying trung ga non (young chicken eggs) but my tummy said no! No more room hahaha! I am excited for the next time I come back to Miami! Since my review years ago, Mama Tofu has evolved itself into Sugar Mama Tofu. Their menu has expanded a tri-fold! Some menu items were crossed off though when looking at the menu and I'm not sure if it's because they sold out or discontinued the item. I am 90 % sure it's the first option because this is the place to experience what a street food vibe is about. I think my favorite part about this restaurant is that they have the outdoor seating like they would in the Vietnam. Since I never been, I get to at least feel a little bit in my roots. Although, the tables and chairs were cute they did take a toll on my back hurting LOL. But it's all good because the experience made up for it. Found this place by accident but seems that many of my cousins have been here before and never thought about telling me about it. How rude. First impression, Vietnam vibes! All I see is a bunch of people sitting outside on stools just eating away like the streets of Vietnam. I've never been but I seen enough videos. We tried getting takeout but the wait was an hour. They are so busy! Phone calls going off. We ended up getting takeout the next day. Didn't get to eat it fresh but I'm sure it would've been soooo good fresh because it was pretty darn good reheated. Hi all this was great if you like authentic Vietnamese food. I like the oysters they were huge and came with two sauces my favorite was the green one. The Pho Mi Bo Kho was absolutely delicious. The restaurant isn't huge but you can sit outside if you like. I was unable to try there crab as it was so popular and already sold out when I got there. I will definitely be back. Place is pretty small with limited in door tables, but they also have out door seating that makes you feel like you are in Vietnam with tiny tables and a small stool. We ordered a few items of snails with different combination of seasoning. One was Thai coconut and the other was a Vietnamese style seasoning. I just wanted to acknowledge that the service that was given was amazing and as somebody that goes to places to try the fact that it felt so wholesome so peaceful was amazing. Awesome. The atmosphere the service the food. MaMa Tofu is the cutest little spot. The concise menu consists of Vietnamese dishes I have not seen too much in this area. On a Sunday afternoon, they were sold out of the Soy Milk and Tofu Pudding I had heard so much about and wanted to try. So we settled for the Corn Milk which was so sweet it was like dessert in a glass. We also ordered the Ramen Beef Stew. This soup overall was solid. It was more flavorful than many pho's but less flavorful than most of the ramens I have tried. The beef was tender and the noodles tasted fresh and not chewy. We also shared Lemongrass Tofu. The tofu was perfectly crisp and it paired perfectly with the house lemongrass sauce. Both dishes were large portions and we had lots left over. Many customers walked in to buy to go items from the fridge. Our server was friendly and our food arrived promptly. Super popular spot among the Vietnamese community, so popular that even my nail lady here in Seattle knows about it. It's about 30-40 minutes away from Miami depending on traffic and what part you are staying at, but it was worth it. Mama Tofu serves Vietnamese street food; oysters, snails, pork organ congee, etc. During night time, there's occasionally karaoke. Although it looks less appealing with everything being presented in a to go container instead of a proper ceramic plate, it did make it easier to just close the lid and take it home if there's leftovers. Earlier during the day, we went to a pretty fancy restaurant with white table cloth and spent $150 for 4 people. It's interesting how we also manage to spend $150 for just 3 people here at a no frills type of atmosphere, but I guess all the exotic stuff are hard to come by. The tofu was perhaps the crispiest tofu I've had, whatever sauce that came with it was so yummy! I saw this place all over social media and it looked amazing so. I thought I would give it a try. My sister and I showed up on a Saturday afternoon, thankfully it wasn't too busy. She had the beef noodle soup, I had the oysters and the lobster special they have. I guess it's a lobster, pork, crab seafood soup? We shared everything and I loved her beef soup. It was probably one of the best I've ever had. The oysters were really really good too. The sauce complemented the oysters well. They were West Coast oysters, which I'm not used, but still very good. The thing that lost me was the lobster soup. It was bland. The lobster with cooked down so much that it was rubbery and barely had any taste. It was almost hard to eat. Stopped by here on the way to visit the grocery store next door, and out of the places I usually frequent, this was one that I have not. The place inside seats around 14-16 people so if you're with a large group, this will not be a good option. 3/5 I ordered the Ramen Beef Stew $10.95 and it was good all around. I think the beef portion was a little skimpy and could have been better since it was only beef end cuts, carrots and ramen. I know you don't get that much for $11 bucks over all, but next door you'll get more. The overall seasoning was good and not too overpowering. Was trying to find a place to take my family to eat in Davie area and found this little gem. A hole in a wall that serves Vietnamese street food. We mainly came here because we saw they served snails, which I loved eating when I was a kid. First off, the ambience of the restaurant felt like you were in the homeland. They had scooters outside of their restaurant, which you would see all over the streets of Vietnam. They have outdoor seatings with mini tables and chairs. Don't recommend if you're a tall guy like me. You go inside and the walls are decorated like small neighborhoods in Vietnam. We had one of the employees to take a picture of me and my family and she made sure to get the whole wall to show off the decorations. The service was amazing. The lady at the register was incredibly nice, super friendly, and very helpful. We spoke to each other in Vietnamese but she is also fluent in English. She went through the menu with us, showed us pictures of what the food looked like, and gave us recommendations. They don't have many drinks but she encourages you to go to the business in the same plazas to buy drinks and drink it at the restaurant with your meal. It's great to see them supporting their neighbors. She also kept checking to see if we were ok and gets excited when she sees us enjoy the food. It shows how much she loves her job and is proud of the food she serves. The food was amazing. We tried a variety of dishes but my absolute favorite was the snails with spicy lemongrass. Very flavorful. Their lemongrass fried tofu was amazing as well. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. I am definitely going back to try other dishes we missed. If you would have told me that I'd like drinking soy milk I'd have told you you're crazy. But here I sit, sipping the most delicious soy milk I've ever tasted - and loving every drop. We bought a corn milk and soy milk - we prefer the soy. It has a delicate, sweet flavor. I looked up the recipe and found that there's likely pandan leaves in the blend - these Asian screwpine leaves are said to relieve "... chest pains, cramps, spasms, headaches or even lower blood pressure...". Beyond potential health benefit, the soy milk is tasty and creamy. We loved it! We got a freshly made hot tofu pudding and a cold one from the cooler. OMG - the warm tofu pudding was ethereal, silky clouds of creaminess in a sweet ginger syrup with julienned, crunchy fresh ginger. Yes. This barely sweet dish was lovely, sophisticated and clean-tasting - no muddied flavors or overworked ingredients. It is like nothing I've had before. But the honey pork dish (Banh Hoi Nem Nuong) was freaken killer. I don't know what they did to make the pork taste so good but I'm sold. We didn't even heat it up - we tasted it room temp and went in for more. The noodles are fresh and I'm guessing once we heat the dish up, will take on the flavor of the meat but even as is, it was good. We also loved the pork stuffed tofu (Dau Hu Njoi Thit). Hey, I'd work there for eats if it meant more of this and the other pork dish. We ate it room temp too - to taste it before putting it away (we planned on eating it for dinner but weren't hungry enough to eat a whole meal so it's today's lunch and I'm counting down the hours! Ok truth be told, my husband is plating our morning oatmeal right now and he's going to stick a slice of pork in each bowl because we can't wait for lunch!) We'll heat up the fried tofu to give it a chance to impress - room temp didn't do much to represent the dish. We're looking forward to trying the sticky rice cake (Banh It La Gai) later too. I know - we ordered a lot. But everything looked so good. They have fresh chili paste and marinated veggies in the refrigerated cases too - we'll likely get that next time.
