The food is phenomenal.The service is beyond horrible. Quite possibly the best Italian takeout I have ever tasted. Everything I have tried has been delicious and you can taste the quality. I have ordered from here multiple times and had raved about the food to my coworkers. One night at work several of us placed orders. My coworkers that went to pick it up said that the woman behind the counter was not rude, but very standoffish. My coworker asked if all the salads were there and the woman assured her that she did not need to check as the woman stated she packed the orders herself. Unfortunately, one salad was missing, but also the salads received were packaged with the hot food which caused the salads to be warm. Someone also ordered a cannoli and that was also packaged with the hot food so it was a melted mess. My coworker called about the missing salad and the woman kept insisting she packed it. I had ten people in the immediate area watching sealed bags be opened to only two salads not three salads. A resolution was reached that my coworker could go back another day and pick up a salad. The woman on the phone never took down my coworkers name, but instead hung up on her three different times. My coworker thought the first hang up was maybe accidental or a disconnected line but not when it kept happening. Although the hang ups were comical, it was very unprofessional. Sadly, I can no longer justify supporting this business by ordering from them. If it was just the missing item and melted cannoli, we could overlook that. No one is perfect all the time, but I won't deal with the poor service and the phone hangups.I've noticed that the owner often responds to negative reviews by stating that they are only charging $9.99 when the pizza is actually worth double or more. Placed a pickup order, before being hounded for a tip. I intentionally avoided delivery for this exact reason. Very rude and unprofessional.

I wanted this place to be the neighborhood Italian restaurant--comfortable and affordable with good quality--that I want to return to every couple of weeks. We've had them before in Largo, but I didn't know of one now. Unfortunately, Mama Rose isn't it. Mama Rose, after whom the restaurant is named, works behind the counter taking orders and thanking customers. It's personal and homey, which I like. Nevertheless, the atmosphere feels like a gloomy pub. On the upside, the food is very good and the prices are reasonable! I had a very nice Caesar salad followed by a large serving of spaghetti with a Bolognese sauce and a couple of large meatballs. It all came with two very good garlic bread knots. There was plenty for leftovers. The non-pizza menu is short. To be a good neighborhood Italian restaurant that I would want to return to regularly, the menu needs to be broader and the atmosphere better. OK, let me start off that we have been to this place two times now. The food is good love that it's just down the street from where I live., And my son really loves this place. But I'm not sure if we will go back only saying this because I took my daughter with me and my son and she said it took everything in her power not to Trump across the counter at the owner. I had my back turned to the counter she was watching the counter and the customers coming in. She said at one point and older gentleman probably in his 80s came in and the owner was on the phone taking a phone order. She said that the owner grabbed the man by the arm. Just make it unnecessary comments to the person on the phone about the customer that was in front of her which I agree that was unnecessary and if I was a customer, I would've turned around and walked out. When our food was brought out, we ordered three different pizzas. She brought my sons out first which was great because I can go ahead and get him fed. Then she asked if we wanted the other two pizzas boxed up because " this is a lot of food to be brought out. Do you want us to put it in boxes? One piece should be sufficient" I said no because we each ordered our own pizza and we all have different toppings. She said OK with a nasty attitude so that was a second thing that pissed my daughter off. I don't know who the gentleman was behind the counter making the food but he kind of snapped at her. I don't know if it was her son or he was, but he was standing up for the customers. And then to top it all off when we were ordering our food my daughter want a Sicilian style pizza? It only comes in a 16 inch. She was fine with that. I was fine with that to pay the price for a 16 inch. So my daughter said I want the barbecue chicken pizza. She proceeded to tell me that on a barbecue chicken pizza I had to pay three dollars per topping mind you this is a specialty pizza so it's one price I had to pay three dollars per topping just because it was on a Sicilian crust so my daughter's like no forget it. I don't want it me I will. I would've paid for it I mean it's no big deal so then she turns to the guy that was cooking making all the pizza and stuff like that and said is there anyway we can make a 10 inch Cecilia Sicilian pizza and here's where it gets interesting she said out of her own mouth because they think it's too much money they don't wanna pay the charge for Sicilian pizza and I come unglued. I said the price is not a problem. I don't care to pay the price in this. The gentleman said well I can double the dough make it a little thicker. It won't be exactly Sicilian but it's close. My daughter said that's fine. I'll take the 10 inch.... My thing is as a restaurant owner. This lady has no filter and maybe she met her match when me and my daughter came in because we have no filter either but neither one of us wanna get in trouble because we do have professional jobs but with that being said, the owner has no business being behind the counter unless she can clean up her mouth, her attitude towards customers because you are not gonna get the customers in there with that kind of attitude. People will tell other people and you'll be closed and I heard her say we've been open a year, baby. I don't know how because the first day we went in excellent excellent excellent customer service from young lady who was she was an angel. But the owner honestly has no business being behind the counter, talking to customers and treating customers the way she did, especially when she grabbed the older gentleman by the arm and he he never said a word never said a word the entire time he was in there except for thank you and for her to put her hands on him, baby that's a lawsuit. Keep your hands to yourself. Keep your mouth closed if you have an opinion, walk away to the back and get your frustration out there, but do not do it on the phone. If I could give a place a 0, I would. I read the Google reviews beforehand and saw the good and bad and decided I would prefer to give a locally owned business a chance for the first time. Let me say, what a nightmare. One of the warning signs on the reviews was the owners tendency to attack anyone who gave a negative review and was very condescending and hateful. Let me tell you that that's exactly how she is And I am speaking from personal experience. I placed an order tonight through the slice app. I placed my order at 6:44 PM and the app indicated that I would have my food at 7:19 PM. Using the tracking Feature on the app, it indicated that my food was out for delivery at approximately 7 PM. Great ! Well, it got to be about 7:40 PM and I did not have my food yet and so I contacted the slice app chat people and spoke to Ryan, who proceeded to call the store and was told that my order was out for delivery and would be there in about five minutes. Once again, great. Five minutes came and went, 10 minutes came and went and then 15 minutes came and went, and I contacted the app again. And notified them that my food was still not here. In the meantime, The delivery driver called me and stated that she was about 15 minutes out from my delivery. So then the store called me and the owner Rose, is a complete and utter fucking bitch and asshole. I don't use language like that in my reviews normally but she deserves every bit of it. She was blaming me for their delay And how I have no right to cancel my order after they spent 45 minutes making my order, etc., etc. I told her that I was told the pizza would be here on a timely basis and gave her the same timeline I mentioned above and she said that was complete untrue. So she then stated if you want me to cancel the order then I will call the driver and tell her to cancel the order and I will refund your money. So that's what we agreed on and we hung up the phone. So I called and contacted the slice app again to make sure I get a refund and notify them of all the issues I've had with the store and they told me that she said the pizza is still on the way and they're not going to refund my money. Which is completely opposite of what she told me on the phone. So the delivery driver shows up about five minutes ago, which is now an hour and 45 minutes after I placed my order initially and an hour and a half after it said, my pizza was out for delivery. The delivery driver was very nice, but she said the owner told her after she got back to the store to go ahead and redeliver my food after She had been to the store. So now my food has shown up and it is fucking cold. Never. Never. Never. Never do business with this place. If you do so it's at your own risk. And I'm sure the owner is going to reply to this email with some sort of nastiness and bullshit because that's what she always does. read more
