I unfortunately was not super impressed with Mama Rosa, after having been recommended it by a few traveling friends. It was pretty busy inside so the only seating was outside in the "patio" area (in the cold, at night). There were outdoor heaters out there but they weren't doing too much to keep the cold away. Because we sat outside in the cold, I couldn't tell you what the ambiance is like inside. Our server seemed almost annoyed at us when we were asking g a few questions about menu items, so I felt pressured to just pick something fast. My quick order decision for food was the Risotto with Lobster. It was not cooked very well and had little green bits to the lobster meat. I barely ate any of it after seeing that. The risotto was fine so I ate that part at least. And Mama Rosa was not a cheap place to eat, either, for leaving mostly hungry and having a bad experience with the seating, service, and cook on the food. If anyone asked me if I'd recommend they go to Mama Rosa, I would unfortunately have to direct them somewhere else. read more

I found this restaurant while walking about Stroget. Oddly, It is an Italian/Mexican restaurant. I had Italian both nights. The carpaccio was pretty good and the service was friendly and reliable. For those who don't speak Danish, no worries: they spoke very good English as in most Copenhagen establishments. The food is good, but the atmosphere is very cozy and on a hot humid summer night, it's fun to sit outside with the rest of Copenhagen. It's dimly lit and the Danish beer (if you're a beer drinker) was superb. Favorite Dish: For the appetizer, I really enjoyed the Carpaccio. If you don't like raw beef, this may not suit you. In that case, the individual pizza dishes are very good too. On a Friday night at around 8pm, reservations were not needed. The service is slow by American standards, but prompt by European standards. Besides, what's the rush? Although the food is not spectacular, it did the job after a long day of walking. read more

This place stinks. I only give it two stars because it wasn't absolutely abysmal. Worst calzone I've ever had by a country mile. I'm not going to even articulate it. My wife said her fajitas had pretty much had no meat. Those might have been an all time low for her too. They didn't look good either from my direction. The restrooms are dirty. Paper towels all over the floor. Just not clean. Service was just okay. Took a while to get a table. The beer is the best part, which is hard to screw up. The guy who runs the place, a wannabe Gene Simmons who is about obnoxious as it gets. Sat at table across from us and was loud AF on the phone the entire time. If he spent that time off the phone and actually running the restaurant maybe it might be descent. It's insulting to Americans there is even any Americana attached to it and embarrassing to Danes that it exists on a relatively high profile parcel of land. Should've known that a place named Mama Rosa's "Pizza" with part of the neon sign out, which has everything on the menu was a red flag. Stay way from it. Or as the kids say "F around and find out how" bad it really is. You don't need to take my word for but plenty of other reviewers agree with a similar sentiment. The service was very very very slow and the food was not good at all. It took forever for our waitress to take our order and the food took a long time to come. She also had an attitude and not friendly. I ordered the lunch size spaghetti with meat sauce and it was just a tad warm when I got it. But at that point I didn't want to tell my waitress because god knows how long it would take for me to get my food again. Also the portion was very small, more like a kids size dish. My 8 yr old son ordered a lunch size fish and chips from the regular menu and the portion was just right for him. They don't have tap water so you have to purchase by the bottle. Me and my company were very hungry after a long day in Copenhagen. Maybe too hungry and too lost in the wind to take our time that evening to find a good spot to have dinner. We were showed down in a little cozy basement of theirs and then we ordered our food. He ordered pasta and I ordered fries with chicken and some sweet chili sauce type of a thing. First of all, we had to wait for a good 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The waitress was cute and kind and all but she seemed to get stressed by a rude man who seemed to be the boss. We also heard other people around us talking about leaving because of the bad food. When we got our food, it was a big disappointment. My sweet potato fries were so few and in the bottom of the little serving tray I found a few "normal" fries (you know those you can buy frozen and fry at home). The chicken was of really bad quality. Dry and chewy. My company's pasta was not homemade but cheap and didn't taste anything. All in all: Low quality, high price and not worth it. read more

This place is not good. Despite all the other negative reviews a waiter picked up our order in 5 minutes, and delivered it in 15 minutes. My spaghetti and meatballs was terrible. The tomato sauce tasted like it was conserved spaghetti sauce, and my meatballs tasted frozen, so I assume they were. However my family seemed to be OK with their meals, and my sister's pizza was actually quite good. Our waiter was super nice though, and he was really helpful with choosing our drinks. I really don't understand why this place only has two stars. My family and I happened upon Mama Rosa while wandering around central Copenhagen. It looked busy and the prices looked decent so we decided to try it out. We shared two pizzas (a Margarita and a Hawaiian) and a bolognese pasta dish. All were pretty good and left us feeling full/satisfied! Also, sharing the dishes made the total price very reasonable. My only complaints are that they need more people working! Our waiter was very good at checking in on us regularly, but I felt so bad for him!! He was running all over the second floor trying to keep everyone happy. Poor guy. The salmon salad small. The spaghetti was dry. Worse than the food was the service. It took 20 minutes to get the order in. Make sure you order drinks and food at the same time or you'll be longer than 20. Then we didn't see a server again until our food was ready which was 35 minutes. This was 3pm. My first restaurant experience in Copenhagen, and couldn't have picked a worse place. Well, I am exaggerating a bit... but this place is in the center of Strøget is a tourist trap. If you are visiting Copenhagen, be smart and search some other places on the side streets and avoid eating along this famous shopping street. The service was horrible, we were seated upstairs alone in our group and the staff would rarely come up and check on us, and the food took forever to come. We ordered shrimp, pizza, and pasta. None of it was memorable enough, plus it was extremely overpriced and extremely salty. The food made me very thirsty, but like many places in the city, you have to pay around 40kr for water... so I put down 5 extra kroner or so for a well drink. Hard to believe that a place doing this level of business has zero reviews, but here goes. I was originally skeptical of this place. It's combination Mexican/Italian? Two genres that really don't share much, if you ask me. And the menu is enormous. Cheesecake Factory might be able to pull this off, making seemingly everything under the sun decently. But can a random spot in Copenhagen? I dunno. In the end, a table full of people devouring pizza called to me - and I grabbed a table outside. I was shown to my seat, by the way, by a classic old guy, dressed in a tux and speaking four or five languages to the various tables. He was most apologetic when he mistook an Estonian couple for Finnish. For shame. Anyway, I went with a pizza and was pleasantly satisfied. It's a big helping, nice chewy crust, good tangy sauce, and mine had (scant) mushrooms, spicy Italian salami, and rocket salad. Enormous menu and Mexican tie-in be damned, this was A-OK. Add to that the fact that it was only 99 DKK, I feel like this becomes a relative deal in a quite expensive Copenhagen. Not a terrible place to eat but definitely not the best. This restaurant has a good and convenient location and a great atmosphere, which is why I originally was drawn to it. The food that we ordered was good though nothing outstanding. My rating is not so much about food but about two things that bothered me - one a small matter, and the other a bit more. The wait times were abysmal even for draft beer. But even that's ok. What appalled me was, as well heeled South Asians who dressed decently and in keeping with any reasonable measure of sartorial elegance, we were treated as second class citizens. We were given our check as the food arrived and the waiter (who was actually quite nice) told us apologetically that his boss wanted to ensure we got the bill. We were a bit perplexed as EVERY other table had a bill presented to them after they completed their meal and after they were given a dessert menu. Not wanting a confrontation we simply ate our food quietly, paid the bill in cash, and swore we would always take the higher road when dealing with Neanderthals in life. It rankled me especially since our 12 year old is old enough to see this discrimination first hand. Never again to this place for us!!! read more

Found this restaurant too on a nice walk down Stroget. The restaurant seem a bit touristy (plastic menus, hundreds of items, not a locals hangout). I set my expectations lower, but was pleasantly suprised by the food which was a pretty good quality at an average Copenhagen price. My Calzone had a very fresh taste, compared to the processed Calzones I expect in US. Service was perfectly fine. This restaurant is attached to another restaurant next to it and I think it's confusing people and maybe that's why it has 2 stars. When we went there the first day, everything was great. We sat outside. The food was nice. Our server was super nice, I wish I could remember his name. He was a European guy somewhere from Slovakia if I'm not mistaking. He was so nice, he found fresh ginger root and mint for my tea, and he was very friendly, helpful, talkative. We enjoyed our dinner at Mama Rosa. Since we liked it so much, the next day we went there again for lunch but actually it was the restaurant right next to it. They are attached and it looks like it's the same restaurant but it's not. So the lunch experience was not nice at all, the food and the service was not good. Unfortunately we were at the wrong side of the restaurant. Hopefully they will change something so people can separate those two restaurants because Mama Rosa is really a nice restaurant and the servers are a lot nicer at Mama Rosa. read more

Never again! Very uncomfortable seating. We ordered the nachos (totopos for my friend and beef for me) and the buffalo wings. The tortilla chips were oddly thin and a good amount of them were burnt. EVERY topping was dumped on top (except for the "salsa" which was under everything) so the nachos very quickly became soggy. The menu said ground beef but the nachos came with beef strips/carne asada but hey, it was tender. The "buffalo" wings were described as "Buffalo chicken wings in a spicy barbecue sauce. Served with carrots, selleri and garlic dressing." I was in shock when they arrived. The chicken wings were smothered in an asian sweet chili sauce and in no way, shape or form resembled buffalo wings other than the chicken wing. I like asian sweet chili sauce but definitely not when I order buffalo wings and not more sauce than chicken. Couldn't finish either dish. And the 49 kr strawberry smoothie...not worth 49 kr!!! read more

First of all, the place looks like its only halfway ready to receive customers. There is no clean table. restaurant staff looks very busy and very rude. when she served our dishes, her thumb was dipped right into the sauce. she didn't even know what she was serving us and called out the wrong dish name. Then as we were done and plates had been cleared, she tried to serve us plated again. we told her it was for the table next to us, we had already eaten (there were 3 busy tables at the restaurant FYI). she gives us the wrong bill and the original bill was charge lot that we didn't order alcohol. everything was mashup. all little things that are just indications that they are not ready to be open. And you know what all these things are ok if the food is delicious, but it's not. another one thing surprises me that the restaurant staff took food while we order food. we had 2 pizza and salad and meat stack and its was not cook properly also in the pizza no cheese.
